How does your game meet GBJam's theme
We interpreted OLD GOLD literally. Old electronics—CRT televisions, circuit boards, cassette players, telephones, and game hardware—contain small amounts of real gold in their components. In our game, these discarded machines become an urban mine. The player digs through old technology, recovers the gold hidden inside, and uses it to produce new game cartridges. So for us, old technology is old gold: something obsolete and forgotten still contains real value waiting to be recovered.

Loved this, easily one of the most fun games of the jam for me.

Gameplay took a bit to get the hang of but the frantic scanning of the board, deciding where to mine, and racing to beat the clock with the biggest haul was exciting. Some controls felt like they didn't work but I saw in the other comments you know about the issues with turbo. I also experienced something where A and B kept changing places in the controls. Like the game would be telling me to press A, I'd press Z and nothing happened. I pressed Z again, nothing happened. I pressed X and the game acted as if A was pressed but X is B. This swap happened to me a few times, seemed to only happen on the blocks where I had to alternate between A and B to mine.

Graphics were incredible, such fantastic art. The palette is perfection. I love the purple.

Soundtrack is full of bangers. I hung out on the title screen for a good long while just to bop along. I also really liked the crunchy voice fx.

Gameboy soul? Heck yes.

Quirkiness? Heeeeck yes.

Secondary theme interpretation: There is gold, it is old. Interpretation is on point in a creative way.

Great job, y'all!

This is a lot of fun. There is so much personality in that little bot, I like controlling him. The art and palette are gorgeous! I had a little trouble figuring out what some of the power-ups did... but I still wasted all my gold on them anyway $$$$

Very fun, but also very hard. Enjoyed this one a bit.

I had a fun time with this one, sometimes it was a little tough to understand what was going on, but the aesthetics were top notch! On the last day I was surrounded by stones and couldn't get to any of the gold XD I was robbed. Great game overall!

This would have been a hit in the early 90's, I initially thought this was a gameboy ROM it has that much authenticity.

Love the art, music and color palette

Such a fun game! This definitely feels the most GameBoy authentic of the ones I have played. I really enjoyed it - great work!

I enjoyed learning that different piles had their own consistent little microgame and the game went from thinking the actions were random and relying on reaction time to be faster, to instead memorizing them and it becoming a seek and destroy mission for the ABAB gold mines!

On my playthrough it felt like upgrades were taking all of my money, so I didn't have very much leftover after 7 days of hard work. Either I didn't fully understand the turbo upgrades or perhaps they weren't working for me?

Love the art and palette.

Cool and fun game. Great work, keep at it!

Also, sometimes the universe is cruel...

Thank you for playing. As you mentioned, the turbo button isn’t working properly. There are also several other bugs, and our programmer is working hard to fix them. Still, I’m glad you were able to experience the core fun of the game.

As for “Total Gold,” which affects the ending, it’s the cumulative total of gold earned throughout the game, so it’s okay if you don’t have much money on Day 7.

Just wait a little longer, and I’ll rescue you from this cruel universe :D

I liked the game's art and design. I ran into a couple of issues where the pre-level interface (where you buy upgrades) overlapped with other textures—though this was fixed after adjusting the resolution and browser size—and it personally took me a little while to grasp the "pattern" mechanic for breaking the rocks. It was a short, fun game.

Thank you for playing!

I originally wanted to shape the ores into A, B, and C shapes, but I’ve come to think it would be more intuitive to simply make the silhouettes and appearances very different from one another.

Thank you for your feedback. We’ll be back with an even better game!

Quite simple gameplay with great presentation on both graphics and sounds, the second theme interpretation is great and the gameplay is quite original on it's approach, all in all, it's a pretty nice entry!
