Awesome work!! An extremely funny premise with some surprisingly addicting upgrade mechanics. It was a cool challenge balancing attacking with laying out your defenses. Way to go diving into Blender, I just started learning too so I definitely know how challenging that can be! Kudos to both of you guys ^^
Apologies for the late review! Glad I got to play and rate this.
good. liked it
Thanks!
I'm not big on tower defense but this has dinosaurs so that's a plus in my book. Nice job with the models / animations.
I am happy you complemented the models and animations as that was my personal main learning focus during this jam (and I evolved from "well, I have no clue how to do anything in blender" to "i know some basic stuff and am aware of some more complex topics which I will explore later"). Thank you for playing it and for your feedback!
Nice work, I feel like the rocket and turrets need cat ears XD
Thank you! OMG, you are right, I feel stupid now for not thinking about that earlier... I guess I was so invested to model something looking like a turret/cannon/rocket/tower that I forgot I could go really crazy with the design. Maybe I'll play with the models a bit after the jam and try to add it if time allows before the next GWJ edition, I have a vision now...
Good work making this within the jam time frame.
Thanks for playing and kind words! We had a hard time as we were both learning and trying something new, and maybe a little bit overscoped here and there while cutting corners too much in other places, but we gained a lot of experience on the way :)
Enjoyable! Got to round 4 before i realised there was 2 sneaky lil' dinos' hiding behind my ship! Feedback would be primarily the same as others here; some camera rotation would be nice! :)
Nice job both!
Thank you for playing and feedback! The lack of rotation was due to cutting a few corners and trying to scope small, the workaround is to move camera so that the central tower/rocket is near the left or right edge of the screen, but I think we'll add camera rotation after the jam, as a coding exercise :) Thanks for playing and your feedback!
I wish you could rotate, had a dino almost perfectly behind my ship and I couldn't figure out how to stop him cus he got so close I couldn't see him
We both agree, the devlopment was a bit chaotic as we were cooperating both for the first time and both learning (me to model in blender and have some sort of "asset pipeline" to export it and import in godot, and FujiG to code in Godot), so we had to cut a lot of corners. The temporary workaround is to move the camera to the left and/or right - if you don't see the dino behind the tower when it is more or less in the center of the screen, if you move the screen so it is near the right or left edge, it will be visible. Thank you for playing and feedback!
The first time I started really zoomed in somehow and was mega confused until I read the directions below the game. I think if I could move the camera around that would be good and holding left mouse button would save my finger a bit! Cool game guys!
Moving camera around might be a good idea, we considered it and discussed it but went with some simplifications for the jam (as @FujiG is learning programming in Godot and I wanted to mainly learn how to model, texture and and rig stuff in Blender), we will probably add that post-jam as an exercise in trigonometry calculations for camera movement :) I wonder why it started zoom in however, as it should start zoomed out... Maybe adding a control to show zoom level (maybe even a minimap on higher zoom levels) would make it more readable... Maybe we'll experiment with it a bit post-jam. As well ass with holding the LMB for constant shooting from the main tower/rocket (that started as an idea that was supposed to be just an addon to strategy element of placing and configuring towers, yet ended up being the core of gameplay loop). Thanks for your feedback!
Cool tower defense! I might be biased cause I like this genre.
Very nice soundfx and music.
For any nitpicks, idk if that would complicate much, or if it is against the design, but holding LPM for continous fire would be cool.
Thanks for playing and for feedback! It is good idea, I was not thinking about it, but @FujiG was considering it actually and we might add it in post-jam update, glad to hear some constructive feedback :)
Fun time! But why does it not rotate? Why does SPACE not fire my laser!? NOOO! Mah leff mouse buddon!!
Did you maybe forget to update the how to play screen?
Thanks for playing it! Yep, as you can see I submitted it 8 seconds before deadline, and it is not exactly the build I wanted to submit (I notice like 1 minute before the deadline that it's almost end of time, this one lacks armature in models so they're not animated, and some gui changes did not get uploaded - including the unfortunate "how to play" and partially "credits" screens)... I'll try to open a ticket on discord after work today to see if they allow me to update at least this screen so it wouldn't confuse people
I think we’ve all been there sweating the deadline on one game or another.
