The art here is so striking and unique! Great colours and bug designs. I am not a fan of bugs, but these bugs were pretty darn cute.

How does your game tie into the extra theme (optional)
Fall is here, and a bunch of beetles need to stock up on juice for the coming winter! Will you help them make their way through a dense forest filled with delicious roots? But be careful, there are other hungry creatures lurking in the shadows, waiting for a tasty snack to wander by.

Okay this has to be the cutest thing I have ever played. It blends the colony management with exportation really good. Great idea and really great execution with a lot of care and attention to details.
The one thing that bugged -pun not intended- me is that sometimes when I want to move a Stag to defend a line, it combines with a Grub and they all die together. Maybe an extra key for combining (like shift+drag) could’ve helped?
Congratulations to the team. I’d like to see the full game if further developed.
The bugs are so cute and so well made for a 3 day jam! For me it felt like I didn't want to promote grubs at all because they are my primary workers. Because even if an enemy attacks, I can micro manage drag the grubs away and throw my 2 rusts in. Even if I lose 1-2 grub, it is still more efficent than giving up 4 grubs up-front. but then the micro management became overwhelming. I wished promoting grubs to soldiers didn't feel like sacrificing workers because I love maximum efficiency.... but then again if soldiers are free from grubs what is the blocker of not making 10000 soldiers?? I micromanaged the fun away :)
That aside the music, sfx and art is wonderful. game feels well polished overall, great work!
that was a lovely exsperince, so uwu and pretty. I felt so cool when i turned to catterpillar into a friend but a lil disapointed i could make the trantulas friends. damn that good art
That's a really fun game! And looks awesome. One comment is that I'd rather not have transparency on objects but make bugs move around them. Because other than that the game is quite beautiful.
Hey, great that you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback.
I guess you are referring to the Den and Shelter. We had to implement the transparency because otherwise you would not be able to interact with anything that walks or spawns behind them. And blocking everything behind it did not feel right either, it felt to disconnected from the rest of the map. Might look into other solutions though.
Hi, we are so happy you had fun. We tried to keep the tutorial as short as possible to encourage the player to just test out different combinations. Maybe we will add some checklist or achievement list in the future so you can track your progress and see what else there is to do (eg. showing that you found x/7 critters)
Really addictive gameplay loop ended up clearing out the whole map! Some small additions for QoL would be a little indicator where your guys are being attacked and being able to scroll the map while grabbing something. Super polished game and really fun!
Oh yes, this is very necessary for the game! We had the same thoughts while testing and tried to think of solutions, but didn't manage to add any of them in time.
But other than that, really glad to hear you enjoyed it so much and kept playing so long! :D
It's so hard to know if a game is fun while making it, especially without time to playtest with other people.
It's so clean! The controls are easy to understand, and combining it is really smooth too. After realising the merging can branch into different variants, I really got into it. The art is so cute too!
It would be nice if there were some kind of warning before combining your last grub. Losing progress to that was a little painful >.<
Probably my favourite game so far!
That's actually such a good suggestion, I don't know why we didn't think of it. We tested the game as much as we could while making it and this happened to us too, but for some reason it never occurred to me to add another popup for this exact case. Definitely something we're going to change after the jam.
Thanks for the feedback and all the kind words!
