a very fun game!
i really like how the sfx from the attacks fit really well, also a lot of reference from the actual odyssey!
one thing that bothers me was how slow odysseus was, other than that seems like a really good game

WOAH, ODYSSEUS REALLY HAS TO GO THROUGH HELL TO GET HOME! 🏛️⚔️🌊
I really like how directly you connected the theme to the classic Odyssey story. Turning that legendary journey into a fast-paced top-down action game works surprisingly well, and the variety of abilities, enemies, and upgrades keeps the combat interesting. The different skills also give you some nice choices in how you approach each fight, while the art style and sound create a really fitting mythological atmosphere.
One thing I’d improve is the combat feedback. Stronger hit effects, clearer attack animations, camera shake, or punchier SFX could make every hit feel much more impactful. The movement speed could also be slightly faster from the beginning, since the quicker movement feels much better once upgraded. But considering this was a 50–60 hour jam project, there’s a lot of content and polish here!
REALLY SOLID ODYSSEY-INSPIRED JAM ENTRY! ⚔️🏠🔥 The theme, progression, combat, and mythological setting all come together nicely. Great work, and good luck with the jam! 🎮✨
The Oddysey bakes the premise in.
But beneath that is some fun combat with multiple methods of attack and a solid controller for the playstyle.
Visually I wouldn’t mind a slight upgrade, but the audio was pretty on point in my opinion. The battles feel very true to what we expect of the time and style.
This is a really solid submission. I had a lot of fun playing!
Really beautiful game! I really like the fact that it takes inspiration from Odysseus’ journey. Such a cool idea, great job! :)
Very good game, a really love to complete this one,the theme take it with time and distance, amazing.
Good mechanics and work with the differents weapons, nice enemies and IAs.
A very good game and solid entry, good job.
Really polished gameplay although is a generic idea its fun to play
Good Game , nice upgrade that make the gameplay vary enough, good sound and graphic very polishe!
Very good job !
Going STRIGHT for the classics! Great! I heard people say that Odyssey is best experienced when you hear it sung by a greek guy, but I guess your game is a close second :D
Jokes aside- there's a lot to like about your game. The graphics are stylish and characters are animated and designed well (nitpick time! The sirens in Odyssey had bird's body). The art style gives off early 2000s flash game style, which I personally love!
The sound is great- nice variety of sound effects, and the music fits the atmosphere too!
Gameplay was on point. Having so many skills in a jam game might result in spreading yourself too thin, but I think you mostly pulled it off. I'm still not certain where the firebolt is aimed and lightnings are not too useful, when your tactic is holding enemies at a distance, but the basic act of lining up enemies so that multiple are hit with one arrow- really satisfying!
The theme? Going for the classics was a great idea! No notes here!
Over all- really enjoyable experience that feels old school in more ways than one! Keep it up!
Good game! Pulling an interesting top down shooter in a game jam isn't easy task but you nailed it.
The upgrades made sense, the gameplay is clear and crisp, the enemies varied. Overall great work.
Gameplay / Fun / Engagement: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Art Style / Visuals: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Theme: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ — low 4 for me
Sound design/Audio: ⭐⭐⭐ — somewhere between 3 and 4
This was really fun. I liked the art style a lot and visually the game looks VERY cool.
My main issue was the lack of animations during combat. When I hit an enemy or when an enemy hit me I didnt really feel the impact. Some attack animations and hurt animations would make a huge difference because sometimes I wasnt even fully sure if the hit connected.
Gameplay is still a 4/5 for me though. Without that issue I could easily see it being a 5 because the actual idea and gameplay were really cool.
Music and sound were decent too. Probably a high 3 or low 4 for me. Theme is around a low 4 as well.
Really fun game and I enjoyed it a lot :)
If you have some time please check out my game too! Id really appreciate a rating and some feedback :)
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback, glad you had fun! I kinda agree with you on the juice when the player character is hit, im missing a few feedbacks like camera shake and the SFX is a bit weak and low volume. There are actually hurt animations for all, but i guess they are quite subtle, so not very noticeable.. things to keep in mind for the next time :)
Fun game! I enjoyed the variety and progression of the enemies. The firebolt was fun, I didn’t have as much success with the ice or lightning spells. I liked the art, Odysseus has a great expression.
My biggest complaint would be moving too slow. The +40% move speed felt much better.
Thanks for checking it out! Ya the movement speed does feel slow, i agree with you there.. The ice and lightning spells when used in combo are OP! Especially if you use the space bar to charge up both :D Ill upload a run of mine where i only use freeze haha. For the art i have to thank Craftpix, they had some great variety in monster characters and backgrounds!
