Hi all,
I'm Charlie (they/them), the solo dev behind The Library of Unsent Letters, a short, cozy interactive fiction about twelve letters that were never sent and what you decide to do with them. About 9-15 minutes playtime, plays in the browser, built in Twine.

The game is being translated, and I'm looking for more languages. Español (España), Español (Latinoamérica), and Italiano are likely covered. Everything else is open, Français included.
What the work is
About ~14,000 words in total: roughly 12,600 words of story (the twelve letters and everything around them) plus about 800 words of short interface text (buttons, settings, popups, screen-reader descriptions). The itch page description is another 550. I've built a spreadsheet that holds every single line with context notes, so nothing gets missed and nothing breaks. You translate in your column, I run a script I wrote, and the game switches languages from its Settings menu. You'll get a test build to play in your language before it goes live.
The honest part: it's a little tricky
The narrator is a Library that speaks to the player in second person, gently. The player is never given a gender, and several of the letters are careful not to gender the person they're written to. In languages where adjectives and past tenses carry gender, that takes real craft, and I'd rather talk through options with you than have you guess. The voice is quiet and warm; the theme is queer, cozy melancholy with hopeful endings. We can decide together how to best move forward when there are bumps against gender and pronouns.
What I can offer
This is a free game and I can't pay, so I'm being upfront: this is for credit, not money. You'll be credited by name (or handle) in the game itself and on the itch page with a link, if applicable. If you're a translation student or in a program that needs a portfolio piece or documented hours, I'm happy to write whatever confirmation you need, and this is a real shipped game with real players to point to. If you're starting this as a paid service and need to build a portfolio, I'd be happy to offer an honest testimonial about what it was like to work with you. Since it's a shorter game, it gives you a quicker win, and helps me reach more folks since so many people have been asking me for it to be translated.
If you're interested
Reply here or message me with your email, Discord, or website, and the language(s) you'd want to do. Tell me which regional variant you write in if that applies, and don't worry if you have questions before committing. I'd rather answer them.
Thank you in advance. 💜
Update as of Oct 27th, 2026 - I believe I have lost contact with the person interested in doing German translation. If there is a language you'd like to help with translating or to help with the proofreading and playtesting when it's done, I'd welcome that! You'll get credit, of course :)
