Fantastic entry and very impressive. I really loved how the game world feels genuinely lived in with the variety of NPCs wandering around. It's clear a lot of effort has gone into this one, I really enjoyed it
Definite contender for overall winner here. High production values, coherent graphic style, story based, lots of sound. Excellent. I did find myself getting hopelessly lost and found the map quite confusing but that's on me rather than the developers. Will be playing this again for sure.
Thank you so much!
That place can easily turn into a maze! Even after spending two solid weeks inside it, I often found myself getting turned around. I think if we did it again, we would make the hallway colors more distinct. Currently, the colors on the floor represent different departments of the ship. The green halls lead to the science labs, for example, but we never explain that to the player. The map also shows the second floor rooms over the first floor, which adds to the confusion.
Not much to add that hasn't been said already. A couple areas had framerate dips, particularly around the stairs, but nothing that hurt the experience. I did end up skipping a bunch of the dialog but enjoyed the main plot you had going.
Only thing I would've wished for is a little more variety in the repair tasks. Otherwise this is one of the most complete experiences I've seen in this jam (and a lot of other jams.)
Loved the Jern cameo
Thank you for playing and for the kind words!
Feels like a proper game, the synty set makes for a nice coherent style and environment. There is a lot to do and a lot to explore. All the game mechanics work really well. I can see a lot of time went into making this feel well produced. The front end is very nicely done as well. Impressive.
Thank you Sir. It was a fun project and yes MANY hours went into it lol. Thank you for playing.
Great job with the voice over and putting this together. I was sad at the ending, but surprised :-). Also, i really appreciated the guidance markers, without them I would have been soooooo lost!
Thanks for playing! Haha, yeah we were constantly getting turned around ourselves. We put in the hallway colors and the map to help and it wasn't quite enough so we added in the arrows to help move players along.
That's nice game. At the end I wanted to do more robot tasks :) Most of game felt too easy. Great sounds and voice acting.
Thank you for playing! I was really worried about how long the game play was already, we couldn't really cut any more from the story without having to re-record voice lines so the mini-games ended up quick and easy in order to keep players moving along.
I couldn't find how to make it fullscreen, if there was a way. It's too big for my laptop and mouse wheel is broken so I couldn't scroll up/down to find UI elements to exit the options menu. I won't rate because it'd be unfair.
It is the blue square in the bottom right of the screen. On my screen it is halfway covered up on the Itch page, not sure how to fix that. You should be able to use your arrow keys to scroll up and down.
I got it working. Clicking there didn't do anything last time but somehow it eventually worked. I enjoyed the minigames even though they seemed to end really quick. Voice acting was top notch and funny
Fantastic entry! My only complaint was the mouse sensitivity for looking around, as I would be wildly flung in completely the opposite direction with just the tiniest mouse movement. The ending to the story threw me for a loop to, and I felt like it took away from the unlikely hero (a lowly maintenance bot) that you were building up the whole time.Nice surprise to throw the player off from predicting it, but I personally thought it detracted from the theme.
Thank you for playing!
Our mouse sensitivity is definitely a little high. It’s because it’s also tied to the controller, and we ran out of time to tune everything properly.
As far as the theme goes, we feel like it hits the theme a little deeper. On the surface, you’re a lowly maintenance bot trying to become the unlikely hero. But the main player not actually being the hero is, in itself, unlikely. Just trying to be creative with a difficult theme.
Really nice entry! Amazing VO.Especially Jern’s voice :D Also damn what a giant map and ship!! Almost felt like I was walking ona deathstar! vVery glad there were arrows! And nice little twist at the end!
Thank you for playing and the kind words!
What an amazing entry! Perfect use of the assets and I felt like I was actually in space. The outside scene was nice to stare at for a bit. I do feel like the tasks could have been a little more involved. Great polish for such a short amount of time. VO was a great addition :)
Thank you for playing! I’m glad you liked it! I agree that the tasks could have been a little more involved, but we felt like the gameplay was already on the long side for a jam. We wanted to keep people moving along without taking too much away from the story.
The ending ties the whole story into the theme, so we’re hoping most people make it to the end and don’t get too bored before then.
The size of the ship alone made it fun to explore. I liked the little easter eggs in there with the dialogs and different characters. This feels like it could be a full game!
OMG the voice acting that sounds like Balint?!?! Bwahahahaaha.. for the love of tardigrades and their tiny feetsies! A great unexpected hero - VERY WELL DONE!
Thanks Mell! Happy you liked it!
Nice VO cool idea but the Hand :O why the Hand whyyy :D Like the ship and all the side comments of the crew!
Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
Great work with all the VO, I had a good chuckle with all the references and accents. I also appreciated the guiding markers for getting around the ship to the various task locations. Will be playing through again to explore more make sure I didn't miss any lines.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, we quickly realized we needed something to point you along in the right direction. The different floor colors, the map and the arrows helped a ton. Many of the random NPC lines are on randomizers, many unique to each character. For example, the guy in the med bay has 3 unique lines and the story never even brings you over there.
This is awesome for how much time you had to put this together. The way it all comes together is wicked!
Thank you!
Pretty insane amount of stuff you managed to put in this! How do you make this whole ship with a ton of details and lots of characters and quest system and puzzles and dialogue system and writing the dialogue and recording all of it etc. I actually don't get how you finished all the writing in time to then record all the voice lines and put them in the game and all that, genuinely crazy that you pulled all of this off!
Anyway, I enjoyed the story (I read it as both a story with a twist and also a commentary on how an AI following instructions can be misled by others to do harm). The voice acting was surprisingly good, I especially liked the random comments in the corridors. Again just crazy that everything came together in this short time, I'd love to learn how!
Step 1: Have a team and outline your roles before you start so you don't trip over each other in the short window you have.
Step 2: Give up sleeping, you can do that when your dead!
Step 3: Be retired and spend all available hours on it.
Step 4: Use asset packs and lots of prefabs!
It was a really fun project and I think our team produced a pretty great product. We have already discussed going back after the jam and fixing up some of the bugs that are present and overall just clean it up with some extra time and care. Thank you for taking the time to play, comment and hopefully vote. Feel free to find me on discord ;)
Thank you for playing and thank you for the kind words!
Working with a team made this possible. At least 3 of us spent an unhealthy amount of time on the game. For the last week there was at least 1 person working on it at all times, our discord voice channel was live for 76 hours straight by the time we finished the final build.
It took us 2 full days of writing. We used a story board and pre-named all the files on the story board. We had little to no scope creep, we actually had to cut a few rooms from the story to finish in time and not have it drag on too long. One person managed the in game story, one person managed all the audio, one person managed level design/player control and one person managed the mini-games. It took a week to get all the voice lines recorded and balanced to sound equal. Getting them implemented was quick because it was pre planned out with the story board.
Well well well that was a fun story loved the ending. very well planned out and nice visually. Audo bites were also great was well enjoyed, your team could do some great work with more time im sure.
Thank you! Looking forward to playing your game, had I fun time watching you guys work on it!
Really great entry! felt like a proper game!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!
