It really did feel like a lived in world that I was stepping into. I also got the audiobook vibe that others mentioned, mostly because the narration/voices/sfx flowed so smoothly. Interesting character designs and very detailed ui/presentation. Great demo and I look forward to keeping up with the updates!

It means a lot to hear that, Doodle. I’m glad the game came across as enjoyable, rather than a long wall of text. :)

This demo was really enjoyable, and I think I'd agree with the other comment that it feels like a high quality audiobook. I really REALLY want to see this piece be successful so this comment will contain quite a bit of unsolicited advice (sorry).

What I really liked:

  • UI design, art, and presentation: This VN is stunning and I mean it. The layout of things, the accessibility of things and the overall design is amazing and highly polished.
  • Voice acting and sfx: The voice acting really brought this experience to life. The variety in accents is great, and the background noises really put me in that space
  • 90 day fiancé is still a thing in this universe

What I think would add to the experience:

  • More showing and less telling: I think why this reminded me more of an audiobook than a typical visual novel is because the narrator genuinely is doing so much of the heavy lifting. I don't mind his smooth voice but it does lean heavier into the novel than the visual. Like when it was describing what Avorad was handing to Ilona, I don't mind having the narrator tell me about it, but I'd also like to see a visual of it! I'm pretty sure this is limited due to time constraints of the jam but I hope this is something you'd consider for the full game
  • Maybe a shorter intro/reshuffling of events: This is completely a personal preference thing but I found the intro at the cafeteria a bit too long. I think it's important for world building and to show people more of MC's backstory but I don't think I was "deep enough" into the experience yet to pay attention to all the details given at that point. Again you might want other people's opinion on this!

Great job nonetheless, looking forward to the full game!

  1. Oh yeah, absolutely. Some of the content (such as the player being able to pick items what they are packing) was cut mostly due either a) me not having the time to figure out how to make it accessible across different inputs or b) me not having time to assemble it. I’m fortunate in the regard that majority of VAs and artists agreed to continue working on the project, so there should be an update (or a couple) in the future.

  2. Hm, I see what you mean. Do you think it would be more palpable if I gave player more agency (ability to engage in conversations, skip some parts altogether)?

I feel as though my comments would be starkly different if I'd played this game muted. As it stands, the quality of the audio and in particular, the narrator, has pushed all other thoughts aside for me. This game is like listening to a high quality audiobook with choices, great prose, and wonderful delivery. It's very different from all the games I've played so far. It's really made quite the impression on me. Well done guys.
