I love what you’ve done with the UI, the dithering effect, the visuals - all of it! The wrench was a little confusing (as its not exactly mentioned how many times or how to operate it) but other than that… great job!

I have not expected to be bullied into paying a blood tithe to a vampire, but I’ve quite enjoyed the experience. Not a very spooky entry, but certainly a funny one. Great job!

Ohmygosh this was such a cute game eeeeeeeeep!!! I look forward to see the full release, the bug-team seems so fun!

Your game is unplayable to me, at least the browser build (I don’t see a downloadable one). I cannot properly read the text, the clicking works which is nice and– yes. It would be wonderful if you could fix the resolution (either make it scalable or add a full-screen option, ideally both) so I could play what you’ve created. :)

I’m not sure what to think about this game, the prose wasn’t too bad but the protagonist’s choices felt rather nonsensical to me. I am likewise not sure if the missing backgrounds were an error or intentional and… yeah. It was certainly an experience.

I love that game, both CS1 and CS2! I’m quite amazed you identified one of the key inspirations for our submission. ^^

Oh, when you put it like that it makes sense. Got’cha.

  1. The introductory paragraph to Nicasio is ambiguous (but I’ve already spoken to you about it)
  2. Game over does not… lead to a game over? It restarts from the last paragraph.
  3. The background art is lovely, reminds me of old cartoons. It’s a shame there is not more consistency, since half of the backgrounds are photo-bashed (or so I assume) and the other are hand-drawn.
  4. It would be nice if there was more movement with the sprites. (Which is to say there is some, just took a while to reach it as a player.)
  5. Bonus points for dyslectic font!
  6. You spelled “Gardner” instead of “Gardener”(or was that intentional?)
  7. I cannot claim to understand why the game ended in the manner it did, but, the ending CGs was sweet. Overall, my experience with the game was a positive one.

I played the desktop version on Windows, here are a couple of things in no-particular order.

  1. The characters are very detailed, yet so far away you can barely see their facial expressions. It is a bit of a shame we only see them from across the room, so to speak.
  2. I did not expect the plot twist. Then again, I should have seen it coming given the screenshots provided for the game. Good job on surprising me!
  3. I really, earnestly do not like the way UI clashes with the story. The clash of style between the background and UI on the foreground pulls me out of any semblance of immersion I could get. Also, nice job with the side-menu. It would be nice if we could turn off the ginormous UI in the same manner as we can hide it.
  4. When I opened the game, the default settings had music louder than the voice-overs.
  5. There is something so uncanny about the character’s faces. Which might be intentional, given that I know the story now, but.. yeah. Like the facial expressions and the characters themselves were made by a different person kind of a vibe.
  6. The game’s logo is so pretty! PRAISE BE, EVANGELINE!
  1. I enjoyed the premise of the game, the execution not-so-much. It would be nice to have been offered (inconsequential) ways to express the character’s mannerism. To have some agency other than 2 (-ish) choices in total. It’s a chatting app, let me send dumb emojis, say which dress I like or just make me believe that I am more than a fly that just happened to sit on MC’s shoulders, metaphorically speaking
  2. Adorable art and cute UI.
  3. Absent father as a nickname is so hilarious

TLDR; Cute, short game, could do with a bit more ways for players to interact with the environment/the rest of the characters

  1. You have an interesting manner of storytelling, quite different from the other VN I have played from this jam so far. It’s refreshing. On that note, I am aware it is Twine but PLEASE find a js for autoplay. Having to click to get 1 short sentence gets tiresome given the scope of the work overall.
  2. I am not sure if I comprehend what stats mechanics are supposed to do, other that they narrow the options I can choose as a player and depending on the value-ratio they influence the chances of the character passing a trait check. Personally I would be more lenient with stats, so it takes a couple choices for it to change as opposed to 1 choice = immediate change.
  3. Clicking to reveal clues is so neat, bonus point for having a “highlight” option in the settings. That is a neat mechanic, definitely utilize it more.
  4. I did not try multiple endings as I do not feel like clicking so much again to find parts I have not yet read.
  5. I’m not sure if my player agency mattered. The character did what I wanted him to do, whether it has any effect is difficult to say as its a demo. Given the contextual clues, I’d say you are expanding the game both vertically and horizontally very well.

TLDR; if you fix the auto-play, I will play the game’s future updates should there be any (and I sincerely hope there will be)

  1. It would be nice if I could as a player see where I can click (highlight, an arrow, anything).
  2. If there is a menu, I cannot get to it on the browser version. The text is going wayyyy too quickly for me to read.
  3. Is there a random sfx of a stone being moved (like stone coffin being opened) every now and then? I am not sure what is it supposed to represent.
  4. I get the graphic is meant to be simplistic, but it would be nice to have a few more things to look at. Especially on the computer.

Such a clever way of using movie-style subtitles for character dialogue! I quite enjoyed the style and overall aesthetics of the game. Shame it isn’t longer (which is to say I look forward to when/if you release any other games in the future).

The emoji affecting the scene were a nice touch! The only thing I’d point out is that there is not much happening on the screen (movement/effects~) wise and it made it a bit more difficult for me to keep attention.

I quite enjoyed the story and its pacing, the only thing I would point out is that the “auto” button does not change when its on/off. It made me go “did I press it?” too many times.

I quite enjoyed the story, too bad it isn’t a bit longer (which again makes sense as the story is more horizontal than vertical) as I’d love to see the kind of shenanigans the MC could get themselves into. I saw your game on YT and all over the social media, go you!

  1. The intro was so funny!
  2. Oh my gosh Dorothy cartwheeling all over the place is making me feel dizzy.
  3. I can’t comment on the story for obvious reasons.
  4. LeeRoy still remains my most favorite character of them all.

Congratulations, you’ve made me sob over a not-ICQ. Jokes aside, I love the aesthetic of the game. Brings the nostalgia out.

Such an adorable submission!

Looking forward to it! :)

I would be delighted to have you as part of the team! If you are still willing, hit me up on discord. Or alternatively let me know your preferred form of communication. :)

Oh my, that is unfortunate. No worries, we have a whole month to work so a day or two won’t delay much. :)

Sent, please let me know if you received it. :)

Hi Xin, what platform is that? I do not recognize the handle! c:

Hi Frangus! I would be delighted to have you as part of the team (yay co-writer!!!), let’s chat! c:

Of course! Just shoot me a message on Discord and we can do some VN shenanigans.

Howdy, fellow creative enthusiasts and VN enjoyers!

As you can discern from the title, I am looking for an internet buddy (or a multiple) to complete this jam with. Someone to hold me accountable for staying true to deadlines, and a sacrificial lamb for proof-reading my narrative scripts before I commit to fleshing them out into hundreds of lines. You can be a 2D artist, sound designer, 3D artist, narrative writer, or a newbie trying it all. If you are also a curious traveler wanting to venture out of their comfort zone and temporarily trade solo-working for co-working, let’s boogie!

Given you do not know me, let me preface with my professional background. I have a masters degree in (the fine art of) videogames (code for for: I enjoy reading long, cryptic texts that explain at length why some mechanics work and others do not) and I have worked as a volunteer on a couple of titles. I am a 3D artist-generalist and I have likewise participated in a multitude of game jams both online and offline.

My go-to software are Blender for 3D and Clip Paint Studio for 2D. At game jams, I am usually deferred to the jack-of-all trades position, supplying whichever role is missing. One thing I cannot do on my own however, is music and sound VFX. I lack the patience to sit down and memorize the various composition rules… yeah, I would much rather bury my head in the sand than to have to compose a single more music loop.

Singular requirement is being an ADULT (note: being good at being an adult is not part of the requirement). The game itself is not going to be profane, it is just for my own peace of mind.

If I could be as bold as to have preferences, it would be lovely to have another co-writer or a co-artist. I am quite enthusiastic about space (SPAAAAAACE!!!), therefore the game I am wanting to create this month is a space-exploration meets horror. When it comes to assets and materials I have made so far other than the ovearching idea, I have the story split into individual beats, two characters (one of them being the player, got to be mindful of the scope), couple of locations and a few (barely working) scripts in RenPy for a circular dialogue UI. My current development plan involves modelling stylized 3D assets, making renders and drawing over them if needed.

Interested? You can hit me up at @sair_ath on Discord. Or you can leave your contact information below and I can reach you on whichever platform you find more appropriate.

Thank you for reading and I hope we shall both have splendid time during this jam!
