How does your game meet GBJam's theme
Well, Old Gold is implemented as you'll find a past memory causing to change your objective and fulfill the old gold requirement(you'll understand in-game, can't spoil much)

Really charming game! The fishing part is especially well done. The screen communicates everything clearly, and the fish sprites are really well made.

The character movement and animations felt a bit rougher to me, though. On the boat, sometimes the character moved up and down and sometimes stayed still, and I couldn’t really tell if that was intentional or a bug.

Still, you can really tell a lot of care went into the fishing itself!

Thank you for the feedback. I'll might look at the animations to see how they were rough since I was doing the human character pixel art and did animations in Aseprite as well. Also, for the boat, it was more in the gameplay problems on the boat that will might get fixed later on. It is clearly a bug.

Neat entry! The amount of fish/content in this game is amazing!

This is a very relaxing game, if this was fleshed out into a full release I (and my wife too) would have bought and played it on a Switch, even if this was the only core game loop.

Some aspects like audio and visual effects take a bit of Gameboy soul, but it balances out with the movement and the Pokemon-like graphics and gameplay.

Keep it up!

Oh! Thanks for the reply, it truly made my day! But sadly mostly we wont try and make this into a full release though, if you can, you can support our youtube and join the discord server to see the games we make in the future

I like the fish sprites/ fishdex!

The chiptunes could've been more gameboy-ish and I couldn't experience the secondary theme at all. I only could see one of those cutscenes in my playtime and then got tired of playing.

Even though this "chill" game style isn't my type of game, the idea is nice, improving the shop and adjusting the game to be more like gameboy would be amazing.

Makes sense on why you didn't get the theme as you've only played for a short time, but thanks for the review

There is so much content in your game ! 108 fish types, I couldn't catch them all.

The art was very nice. Good music and SFX.

You don't get any information when your inventory is full so I didn't know why fishes stopped appearing, that confused me. There is also a bug : looks like the upgrade prices reset each time you leave the shop. I think there are many possible little QoL improvements, but it doesn't affect the fun a lot.

One visual thing very easy to fix was the font border. Instead of only copying the text one time with the border color with x+1 & y+1 offset, you should also do it a second time with x+1 & y+0 and a third time with x+0 & y+1. That will avoid the little weird-looking edges on the text.

But apart of these minor problems, the game was really enjoyable, even if it was way too long for a jam.

HOW DID YOU GUYS MAKE SO MANY FISHES IN SUCH LITTLE TIME

Some visual bugs but nothing that messes with the game, and the theme interpretation is so cute and wholesome! I could play this for a long time!!! Lovely entry!

We have about around 6 artists in the team. So we got like one major artist worked on the fish art assets. while most of us worked on the other fishes. Thank you for the feedback

Gotta join the control scheme, it felt a bit weird, but to each their own. The fishing minigame was fun, there variety and upgrades plenty!

There are some graphical glitches here and there, and the cobble stoning is a bit jarring, but nothing a search and fix cannot really solve.

sfx and mx were nice, only problem there was, is the volume, stuff it too loud.

Otherwise, cool game, well done!

This has an incredible amount of content! I was wondering what would have happened if I just continued going to the ocean, but the international waters seem to be oil contaminated and inaccessible. Jokes aside, you made a pretty solid game.  I did find the choice of controls to be a bit odd, as usually with WASD, retro games map A & B to J & K, but it was fine.

I did find this strange bug, where after I restarted the game by refreshing the page, this happened:

But overall, a great experience. Had a great time!

Thanks! A Question, can you share your stats? and how much time you played?
