This is so funny and cool, I love Pete and the bench sitters, all the dialogue is very creative.
although one critique I have is the player is kind of slow.
Cute art and I like the silliness of the dialogue/story! The graphics and music definitely have that GameBoy vibe, I think I recognize some of the games used as inspiration for the sprites/tilesets.
I played this on stream today (recording here) in case you’re interested in watching someone play through your game. Good job!
I loved the Bench Sitters saga! The SFX were a little rough on my ears, but I enjoyed my time with the game
Amazing game, and super funny story with all the dialogues in place (good you told to read them all). I really would a full game of this with more story more lore!! Love the art and transitions of it.
This had really great gameboy vibes, I loved the transitions! It was a bit of a "walking simulator" but the dialogs were worth it, lol. I especially loved Pete and the bench sitters, hillarious!
The overworld/battle pixel art was very much Gameboy Standard, but the fourth-wall-breaking tone was very much Earthbound. (Also, the constant palette changes were more Super Gameboy than standard Gameboy). The game was a lot shorter than I expected, but that's understandable when you only have 10 days to work on it. Good sound effects and music, and overall an enjoyable experience.
Cool game idea with a sprinkle of 4th wall breaking and inside jokes, well done on that part. The only thing I did not enjoy, was the fact that all the transitions used the same method: transition into the brightest color in the sun with the full screen to flashbang the player. While I undestand that this is a common thing on the gameboy the effect is very different with lit screens, as I’m basically starting down a lightsource. There are many ways to transition a scene, you could with minimal change just do it the other direction, go to the darkest. For me this was the biggest painpoint in an otherswise lovely game idea and execution.
Sprite and tilework looks lovely and almost straight of of a gameboy, could not really pick out anything here (flashes me the same way all the gameboy games do as well :P)
Sfx and musix were well made, liked them throughout the game. The story was fun with many jokes, good writing there.
Overall a really cool entry with lovely gameplay and one thing that could be fixed to elevate it to one of the gems of the jam!
Thanks for all the feedback. Also, watching the vod made me realize I linked the wrong Github repository on the gamepage, so thanks for clicking the link so I could catch that.
Really enjoyed this one! The story and humor are great, and the visuals really capture that Game Boy feel.
The movement and combat could use a little more polish, but the narrative has so much charm that I still had a really good time with it.
i like the goofy ass dialogue. Also the gameplay is quite good. Great job!
I really love that you show the player when a second interaction does something. In almost every other game, I miss this feature because you never know if you're wasting your time trying! Really great game, I had a great time playing it. Keep going!
Her greed sickens me...
I love the sarcasm it got me laughing quite a few times.
The game has a cute vibe and the digging plus eating loop is funny in a charming way. The palette looks nice and the movement feels smooth. Some parts are a bit slow once you upgrade fully, but the character concept carries the whole thing with a lot of personality. (pls play my game)
Loved the goofy atmosphere! The dev room music got me good!
I want more of Pearl deliberating on whether to killthe game was a bit slow at times but it had cute graphics, funny writing, good 8-bit music, and a charming quirkiness that carried me through it. good job!
Man this game screamed gameboy to me. I loved the art style and all of the interactions. Great work!
A really cute game. Has some nice little mechanics.
Was a bit on the slow side for me but overall was decently fun.
