How does your game interpret and use the theme?
Too Drunk to Buy Chicken follows a man who has stayed at a party for far too long. When his wife calls and tells him to come home — and reminds him to bring chicken — what should be a simple task becomes an unexpectedly difficult adventure. Because he is drunk, even walking, keeping his balance, finding the chicken, and making his way through the different levels becomes a challenge.
The theme is reflected both literally and mechanically: home is the final destination, but the player must survive a ridiculous series of obstacles before getting there. His drunken state transforms an ordinary trip into the long way home.

Really cool take on the theme, and fun gameplay :D I liked the level of difficulty especially the crossing bit - was really frustrating at times, but once you got the hang of it was a good challenge! The music fit the vibe really well and the sfx were great! There were a few instances where the flashlight man was near me where i respawned so i kept restarting in a loop and cars kept hittingme while i was fallen so wasnt able to get up for a while! Some way to respawn in a safer position would be good.

Overall great work on this! Its a unique and funny take :)

BRO, THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT CHICKEN RUN EVER! 😂🍗🍻

The idea is absolutely hilarious—being too drunk to simply walk home already sounds like trouble, but having to protect a chicken along the way makes it so much better. The drunk movement and balance mechanic are such a clever way to turn basic movement into an actual challenge, and the different sections keep the journey feeling varied. The construction section especially sounds like a perfect combination of the drunk controls and platforming.

The main thing I'd polish is the difficulty in the car/forest sections. Better respawn positions, a clearer chicken indicator, and a little more forgiveness when enemies surround the player would make the experience less frustrating while keeping the chaos. I'd also love a stronger consequence for completely losing balance it could make the mechanic even more meaningful.

Considering this took 120+ hours and was submitted less than 20 minutes before the deadline, that's a huge effort from the whole team!

ABSOLUTELY CHAOTIC AND HILARIOUS JAM ENTRY! 🍗😂🔥 GOOD LUCK WITH THE JAM! 🎮✨

Most original implementation of frogger in the jam!

This was really fun. And unique. The drunk effect works really well and turning regular movement into a balance minigame was genius.

The audio and visuals looked solid to me. Great work!

I got stuck at the forest level. First time the police got me stuck at the spawn, and the second they swarmed the chicken location.

I think the idea was cool and I liked the gameplay variety. For a game about a drunk guy the gameplay requires surprising focus :)  Having the forest level easier would be cool too- I wonder how the game ends. Like- does the wife mind that the chicken hit the floor numerous times?

On a technical level the game was fine. Using fullscreen option didn't make the game go fullscreen though. I think since the game pages are allowed to be modified during the jam, you can still fix it :)

The take on the theme was cool. I had an idea about getting back home from a party and I'm glad I didn't use it. Getting home from a party is fine, but having to take care of the chicken too is better.

Over all- some polish would make this game better, but the idea was solid. Keep it up!

Guys, we’ve added a new level where the player has to get the chicken from the chicken shop. We plan to include it once the qualifying period ends.

I couldn't play the game in fullscreen mode. What I recommand is in itch, set the viewport dimensions to 1024*626. Don't add the fullscreen button. And in Unity's player settings set the game size to 1024x576.

I gave up in the forest. One of the guys went to my spawn point and spawn killed me (or I guess spawn flashlighted me) so I couldn't do anything. I tried again from the beginning but lost the chicken in the forest and couldn't get it back. It would be nice to have an arrow that guides you to the chicken and maybe make the section easier overal.

But apart from that very fun idea! The silly animations really work well here and the concept is quite unique. I think it would be funny and make the gameplay more interesting if you'd fall and die when you completely lost your balance because here you can just keep the bar fully to the left or right and move by just rotating the camera which is not really the point.

Developer

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! This kind of comment helps us a lot, especially with things we didn't notice during our own testing.

We’ll definitely take a look at the fullscreen resolution, the forest section and the balance mechanic. The spawn issue in the forest is something we also want to improve, and adding some kind of chicken indicator is a really good idea.

Once the rating period is over, we’re planning to go back and make these kinds of changes and improvements.

Thanks again for taking the time to play and write all of this! We’re really glad you enjoyed the idea and the animations.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback; you're right—the balancing mechanic could become very simple if the camera rotates. We felt the same way—that it would be more interesting if the ball stayed completely to the right or left and fell—but we decided against it because we thought it would make the game too difficult for players.

Is an interesting game, funny and challenge

the scenary is good and the 3d too

good audio work

the forest section, good choice with the auto follow when running but can bug the starter if they can follow you there.

good job with this one

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much!! :D I’m really happy you enjoyed the game! It’s great to hear that you liked the scenario, the 3D, and the audio work. I’m also glad the forest section was fun to play.

Thanks for mentioning the auto-follow issue, I’ll definitely check that out and see how I can improve it.

Really appreciate you taking the time to play and leave feedback. Thank you!! 🙌

Thank you very much, Bromelee, for your comment—it's really helpful. I think we'll set a limit or something similar for the start of the forest. Other than that, it's great that you liked the mechanics we implemented.

This was a fun one 😂 The drunk balance mechanic is such a weird idea but it actually works really well. It makes even simple movement feel like you have to pay attention.

The art is easily 5/5 for me. Everything looks really nice and the visual effects sell the whole drunk feeling really well too.

There are some buggy parts here and there though. The road section can get a bit messy and some situations feel more chaotic than they probably should 😭 Still nothing that ruined the game for me.

I also liked how the later areas change things up. The construction part especially fits the movement mechanic really well because suddenly just getting across simple obstacles becomes way harder than it should be lol.

Audio is a good 4/5 for me and same for the theme. Very nice game and definitely a funny take on getting home.

Also since theres a whole team behind this one  if each of you gets some time please check out my game too! Id really appreciate a rating and some feedback from everyone :)

What did I just play hahaha, had a lot of fun. Looks stupid but the mechanic of keeping the stability is really original.

Developer(+1)

Hahaha, we're really glad you liked that mechanic—we think it makes the game more original. You're right.

Really cool game! Love the visual effects and the balance system really strikes a good balance at needing constant attention without being overwhelming or in the way. Would definitely revisit the car section a little as it seems like the intended route is to get demolished 15 times per lane most of the time lol!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it. And yeah we have to tweak those cars, after all, you're drunk and we expected crossing the street to be tricky, but they've been causing some trouble lol!

Honestly, it's been really funny, I really like the portrayal of Colombian culture and the chicken reminded me of mass evacuation. Maybe I would have adjusted the position of the canvases a bit, but other than that, super good.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! and yeah, that canvas at the end messed us up a bit,  but all of that will be fixed and released once the voting ends!

Nice Game !

The game was very fun with the drunk controls !

The level was fun only the respawn in the car area i was stuck everytime i respawn i get did get hit. the rest was good !

Got lost a little bit in the forest but was fun to escape the light

The construction site was very FUN! best part of the game ! could see this be a Friendslop Game !

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun with the drunk controls and especially the construction section. That was definitely one of our favorite parts of the game.

And yeah, getting respawned right in the car area can be pretty rough. We’ll definitely keep that in mind. As for the forest, getting a little lost is kind of the point haha, we wanted it to feel a bit confusing while trying to avoid the light.

Really appreciate the feedback, and the idea of a co-op version is actually really interesting. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

The concept of the game is really fun! At first, I didn't realize I could run, so I got hit by a car about 20 times... The forest part was a bit tricky because I tried hiding off the paths, but the enemies nearby found me easily. The construction section was definitely the best—simple parkour, but with the added challenge of the drunk movement. Great job!

Developer

Yeah, the sprint button is there, but I think we definitely made it a little too easy to miss. Getting hit by the car 20 times is still pretty brutal though haha.

I'm really glad you liked the construction section! That was one of our favorite parts to work on, especially combining the drunk movement with the parkour.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! It’s really helpful to see how people experience the game without us explaining it beforehand.
