very fun game. I had assume more people would have done this type of game given the theme, but you were the first i played with this style of game. I would have liked the goal up front, and more explanation what each upgrade did. I will say the quickest way i found to get gold was to dig down then boost up (which i assume was on purpose). My only major complaint was that the word "core" broke the 4 color rule (not that it really changes the game).

How does your game meet GBJam's theme
You dig through dirt to find gold !

A short but sweet game. With solid graphics and music that feel right at home on Game Boy. Digging dirt and using the jetpack was fun too (using the jetpack underground digs above you, which is handy). I always thought that the dirt you dig up was converted into gold but your interpretation is pretty good.
Though, I feel the upgrades were pretty standard and I would've liked a secondary goal like finding machine parts to be used alongside gold to fix the ship. What we have is good but a its loop feels a bit repetitive. Also an in-game explanation on how to change tools would be appreciated.
Overwise, good game. I'll miss the moles, too.
You can play my forgetful goldfish game, if you like.
Loved the vibes. The main gameplay music got a bit repetitive, but all the audio and graphics were really cool anyway. Especially the narrative art! Good palette choice too.
The gameplay and theme interpretation are also good. Nice game size for a jam.
Great work! :)
Cute, quick game! I really loved all the visuals--everything was very readable with the white character outlines and reticule. The music was fun, too! The upgrades didn't feel particularly meaningful and it surprised me a bit that there wasn't anything to find in the dirt (or, if there was, I didn't find it!), but the game was so short and sweet it didn't get boring. Great work! :)
Very cute! I really appreciate the attention to detail across the board, and the power scaling of the upgrades felt great. I think the one thing I wanted would've been some added complexity to the dirt fields themselves like them being harder to reach, and them being more organically shaped or having non-diggable terrain floating inside.
A cutscene in this economy?!? Amazing. I am usually not into these collect & upgrade games, but here I think that you nailed the pacing! The last shovel upgrade is absurdly fast and that was also very funny 😆 I really loved it!
Very small nitpick: fonts throughout the game do not look uniform (odd shadows in menus & 5th color black core text not on the pixel grid in the main scene). It is still a 5/5 for graphics don’t worry :)
Really great game, loved leveling up my character, loved the aesthetic, loved the music, the planet was very charming and the addition of moles made it feel alive, the way you convert dirt into gold inside your ship is so rewarding, and the satisfaction to have full upgrades and just dig at high speed was amazing.
Thanks for making this game, it was a quick and satisfying experience. Great job!
Absolutely amazing, all 5 stars from me. Fun, fast progress, it took me 5 minutes to exit the planet and i felt every upgrade influence. Game design is the best. Flawless!
The graphics look very nice , i really like your choice of palette, i didnt finish it but i think its an interesting story
Loved this game! It really brought back the Motherlode nostalgia for me! Amazing art and intro cutscene. The music is chill, fits the vibe. As someone has already mentioned, the font in the store and the "core" in the bottom left corner have subpixel shadows, so it would not be possible on an actual GameBoy display. Otherwise, great job!
The art compliments mean a lot coming from you, thank you !
And yeah I spotted and fixed so many little things that did not want to stay in the display resolution (like the particle shader, oh god the particle shader...) but somehow the font ended up 1 px too small and with a weird half-pixel offset. Oh well.
I don't really like the gameplay, but graphics and sounds are awesome. Also, your font isn't scaling to 160x144p
