I enjoyed the premise of the game mostly taking place during a single, time-sensitive interview. You did a really good job of presenting quite a lot of worldbuilding info in the case files, without it being overwhelming. This felt like an interesting companion to the ace attorney sort of genre, so good job!

Your writing/characterization is engaging as is, but I think I would've felt even more suspenseful if, instead of having many of the question options all available at the beginning, it were even more tricky and you had to do more to unlock new things to talk about. It might even be fun to include some more details in the case file, so that you could catch him in a lie if you're paying attention! (If there is already a moment like that, I didn't get it in my playthroughs haha).

Thank you! The worldbuilding I think is my best aspect here, but pleasantly surprised/ happy that people like my character writing!

and that's fair, I did have some feedback of potentially being more detailed, but I wanted to scope down since it's a jam game, but definitely, like adding more details to the documents and having more contradictions to catch on.Fun fact, the document folder itself was way more detailed at one point, like witnesses had names, but it lead to the player trying to commit the names and such to memory when they didn't really impact the interview yet, so I decided to take them out for now

I really enjoyed this! The documents were a fun touch, as was the clock (which did build tension lol, def kept my eye on it!) - and I loved that we got the choice to either blazenly flirt with the hot demon or be a little more chill about it. Really fun entry, great job!!

Developer

thanks! I'm glad you liked the different mechanics as well as the choice variations!

Delightfully good fun! I loved the sharp back and forth dialogue, Rue's changing expressions, and the simple--but effective!--atmospheric hum of florescent lighting and relentless ticking of the clock. Fantastic work, especially running solo!

Developer

thank you very much!

it's an honor, your guys' game looks amazing too

this was very fun to play! i really liked rue, the dialogue options to expand on his personality really added to the replayability. great job!

Developer

thank you!

happy to hear you liked the replayability!

Fun game I liked the idea of doing an interview while the clock is ticking away in the corner. I thought Rue was an interesting character, this was fun to play, good job :)

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked it, the clock was a last minute idea and addition, and I'm happy with the results, feels like it made the ambience better

This game was fun to explore! Arudeccan and Laurae's banter was playful and written cleverly, the main dialogue/interactions were somehow tonally consistent whether you flirt with him or not. Some tense and quiet music would really enhance the shifting moods between mysterious and dangerous, and Rue would benefit greatly from voice over, but the humming of the lights in the room and the occasional other SFX helped set the scene!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

I agree, I think a good voice for Rue could be pretty impactful, and some music for the other endings beside #6 to sell the differences

I still dont know how to get the ending 3. I got 1 to 6 except for 3 and 2.5,5.5. How can I get more?

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing!

Spoilers for everyone else:
ending 3 involves him knowing you name, Laurae finding him hot, while also having a low rapport with him, then letting him leave or him disappearing

ending 2.5 is from ending 2, but you flirted with him a lot

ending 5.5 is knowing the truth but letting him leave instead of pursuing the case together or banishing him

are there other endings?

Developer

Beyond those, I think you've gotten all of them

Submitted(+1)

He is also kinda hot.

I enjoyed flirting with the demon. I was impressed that you had a whole case file thing, that must have taken some work. The different expressions the demon had looked great. The sound effects worked great.

The characters names where the same color, I think that could be improved so they are easier to differentiate.

I got the Pact of Silent Truth ending. Felt like the good ending. I had fun.

Thank you for making this game.

Developer

glad you think so LOL

that's a very fair point on character names, I'll definitely change the color up

thank you, glad you liked the documents too, I'm thinking of cleaning up the code and then posting both the docs and the menu as free to use assets later on

This was really cool. I ended up getting Ending 2 where you bind with Rue. I loved all the options you had when talking with him, and the time system puts so much pressure on things. It's a subtle kind of horror that I really love. That moment when Rue leaned into me genuinely made me jump in a way that wasn't cheap and was fully natural. It was great. Great visuals too, simple but very effective, especially when paired with the cinematography.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that scene was effective to that extent,

Also glad to hear about the subtle horror, was a bit worried, but I think mostly because I wrote him so much that his threat and tension has become less apparent to me lol

I just played through ending 6 of this (planning on playing more when I have the time) and it was really enjoyable! I'm not the best at putting my thoughts into proper sentences so I hope you don't mind that I'm making a list of things I liked! :)

  • The dialogue is really engaging, I like the way the way Rue and the MC interact!
  • I could get a feel for the world and how it's structured through the way they spoke and reacted
  • The way you went about keeping assets to a minimum while still using them very effectively
  • The silence at that pivotal moment before the music shifts really had the impact I assume you were going for (being vague to avoid spoilers)
  • The sound effect of the clock ticking and the electrical(?) buzz really added a lot to the atmosphere

I'm sure there's way more that I liked, but those are some of the things that immediately stood out to me! This is very well made, excited to play more!! :)

Developer(+1)

super happy you liked it, and glad about your third point, yeah I was definitely going for higher impact using silence and music at that point!

Submitted(+1)

I love the way that silence can be used for impact so the moment it happened, I knew I had to mention it! :)

Developer(+1)

right? and I like that it's pretty high impact without needing a lot more assets if used cleverly!
