I like how my opinion on this game changed over time. The first time I met a character with a different style I thought that having more consistent assets would be cool. In the end I appreciated all the different styles of characters. I guess I took a long way of my own :)
Gameplay wise... well I'd prefer the puzzles to be harder. In "HomeSick" they are more of a narrative device than actual puzzles to solve. I get that's a design decision, but I think the game would be even more engaging if I needed to figure out some solutions on the way.
Over all- I really enjoyed your take on the theme, as well as quirky art style. Keep up the good work!
Really cute relaxing puzzle game which is not too challenging, but has some interesting worldbuilding and characters which kept me engaged till the end. I love the backgrounds, maps and characters which i came across and spoke with. The UI was a bit wonky for me as there were overlaps in the text for dialogues - it may have something to do with screen scaling. Liked the color palette used - indicated a chilled out game and went well with the audio.
Gameplay wise i liked the onboarding and how you slowly expanded the puzzle elements without overwhelming the player. However, i was looking forward to actually using some of the mechanics on my own for something a bit more non-obvious. I understand that you were going more for the story element, but i guess a little harder puzzles would have made the experience much more interesting. I like the audio selection and the sound effects were great!
All in all well done on this, it was the perfect amount of scope for a jam game and a very pleasant experience from start to end :)
THIS IS SUCH A CLEVER WAY TO MAKE THE DETOUR THE ACTUAL PUZZLE! 🏠🧩🗺️
I really like how HomeSick takes the jam theme and turns it directly into the core gameplay. The shortest route home being blocked forces you to explore the map and figure out another path, so the idea of “taking the long way” isn't just part of the story it's the challenge itself! The puzzle mechanics, simple presentation, and sound all work nicely together. ✨🎶
I think there's a strong foundation here for a bigger puzzle game. With more time, polishing the visuals and performance and adding more complex routes or puzzles could make the experience even more satisfying. I especially like the potential for puzzles where the player has to plan several steps ahead instead of simply finding the next available path.
A SIMPLE IDEA WITH A REALLY GOOD PUZZLE CORE! 🧠🏆 Making this in only three days is impressive, and I can definitely see this concept growing into something much bigger. Great work, ryatou, and best of luck with the jam! 👏✨
thanks for the insightful feedback.
and yes, will work on future updates with more creative puzzles 🧩
Good puzzle ! the art direction is good and the sound its nice to!
Nice work !
Nice puzzle mechanics. I think it's more user-friendly than in our game ^_^''
A bit unpolished visuals and performance, but that's a game jam, so it's understandable.
Great game, love this kind of puzzles.
the art was cool and the sound are well implemented, good music and sounds.
the dificult is really good, nicelly done.
well done with this entry.
ty ✨✨
Cute idea! I liked the light narrative and seeing where the story would go. I think the strong signposting of mechanics hurt the puzzle feel. Maybe layering in more routes, or have an ordering you can fail – e.g. have to hit the lever before going down a one-way would deepen the experience.
I also got a bit frustrated at the ‘you can’t rotate the tile you are standing on’. Better to not let me enter that tile.
Cool idea and great cast of characters! Was fun to talk to them all.
thank you. glad you liked it ✨✨
Interesting idea, this is original and with clever use of those few mechanics.
It does seem a bit rough indeed, the art is all over the shop and it cheapens the experience a bit.
There's a good nugget of a game in there, keep up the good work!
I like the core idea here, especially the way the blocked roads and detours tie directly into the theme. There’s definitely potential in the concept.
The overall experience felt pretty rough around the edges.
I think the underlying idea is stronger than the finished execution suggests.
With more time to develop the puzzles, tighten the presentation, and polish the audio/visual side, I could see this becoming something pretty interesting.
A beautiful puzzle! I could definitely see this working as a full game with a more polished art style. I also really appreciated the references, like Anya, for example. If you don’t mind, feel free to check out my game too and see if you might like it! :)
