Hi VU students! Please use this thread to offer your feedback on the game:

  • What do you like?
  • What's frustrating?
  • Are there any features you want to see in the future?
  • Who's best girl?

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Venus University is currently in Early Access, so your feedback is invaluable to help me make a better game for everyone.

You can also include bug reports here or create a separate post on the main board for them, up to you. When reporting a bug, please include:

  • Where and when it happened
  • Screenshots if relevant
  • What provider/model you are using
  • Log file if you're comfortable sharing. You can grab a log file from the "Report a bug" button on the pause menu in-game or from Feedback on the Main Menu

Known Bugs:

  • You may get a SmartScreen warning about "unrecognized app" when downloading the game or opening it on Windows. Getting the game signed is way too expensive just to fix this, so you'll just have to trust that I haven't put a bitcoin miner in.
  • If you are getting "Connection to Gemini API lost" on free-tier Gemini keys, try downgrading the model to 3.5 or 3.6 in the settings.
  • Deepseek, Z.AI, and other APIs that don't support json_schema (expecting json_object instead) might not work with Venus University. If you want to use those models, I recommend accessing their models through OpenRouter instead.

Still loving the game, interesting how quickly some cool mods are popping up but I still wanted to give my thoughts on what features I think would be cool.

1. I think generation of photos would be cool to have integrated into bunny board messages itself like a button in the chat to ask for a photo, also local generation as a choice. I'm not sure if we already can but for local generation if it takes 30-60 seconds to get the photo then it would be nice to be able to at least check messages during other events. If that doesn't work then just have it appear when the time change happens. (I know a mod has attempted this, will try that out when it gets updated to the new version)

2.  more custom outfits slots and outfit classification system similar to the PE, and swimsuits. Maybe in specific BG/rooms it would choice that outfit. cool outfit ideas Formal, outdoor/cold weather, lingerie, and area specific outfits(we could choose ourselves on a menu by checking locations) like roller rink or the club.

3. more CG slots and classification(all the positions in vaginal or anal) in a similar style to the outfits system I mentioned above. If the AI gets it wrong give us a button to change it. (as an ass fan idk if its possible to get an nude/outfit slot that is from behind.)

4. More control of the default characters to redo some of their cg and add custom outfits for people who want more control and customization but don't want to make 12 new characters.

5. Haven't finished testing the character notes completely but some of them might be a little too strong on prompt injection. Could there be a lighter sillytavern like lorebook system where only if the words that are tagged are used it sends to the prompt injector? This would be great for things like secret desires or subconscious stuff and growth for the character. To give an example I used a character note on my custom character Taylor that she secretly want to wear a dress and be more feminine but it kinda changed her personality completely instead of just when flustered or in a situation where it would be relevant  like I kinda wanted. This maybe on the scenes I personally saw so this could use further testing.

Developer

Hi Bobgone! Now that we have the photo feature ingame, heavily looking into integrating it into bunnyboard and text messages. Instructions to the LLM for outfits will be added in the next update, and custom NSFW CG is high priority as well. A lorebook system is also probably a good idea and I've added it to the dev plan.

For the character notes, if it's coming on too strong it's probably best to word it more vaguely or explicitly instruct the LLM on when you want it to be used

You can duplicate a default character to edit them or edit them directly by opening your settings.json and adding:
"editPregens": true

Hey just wanna point out that the Maestro mods disabled the auto update feature (understandably). Uninstalling the mods and reopening the game works perfectly for the auto update.

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for the update!!

As someone who is more used to Invoke Ai, curious if/how Loras can work with this comfyui/Venus genning process? Especially now that photos are likely going to become more prevalent—since with tachis/standing sprites I only need to get it close once and the character is fine, but with cgs likely there will be many more. Tried making ZZZ characters and the release date of illustrious makes it very clear at which character release it's data training ended at haha. (Spoiler seems like Jane Doe is a lot harder to make.)

1. I know we have a 'fix fingers' prompt, but wonder if we can get one for ears? Especially since AI tends to read 'piercing' as 'Turn ears into pincushions'.
2. While I can use the character info for this, wondering if there's a more creative solution to: Characters being aware what other characters are in the same class. Often I'll have a character remark on a memory like: 'The reader did dumb thing in Cult Cinema Class' which when they bring up I respond mentioning how another character also in the class reacted. In every instance where I try this, the character seems to always respond in surprise; in a 'how do you know X?' Which is strange when they were present when they not only are in the class, but were in the scene/act when it happened. Maybe it's one of those things though that can't really be fixed without bloating context?  Curious if anyone's found an elegant solution to this.

3. One thing I think that would be kind of 'cute' as an add would be: After deadlines to change schedules, if you have a character who likes/crushes on you but you only share 1 class or none, that they would change classes to be with you. Or maybe vice versa if they hate you.

And, if I could be 'that guy' again, would love maybe some Venus Uni-themed stickers to use in chats/bunnyboard. Think Chibi stickers or something to use in chat.

Also, so far favorite character is Isabelle, followed by Rosalie.

Thank you for the feedback supahslm! I'm aware of some of these issues and they're on the loooong dev plan. Like, there are many things that don't trigger data retrieval yet like mentioning classes, leading to poor memory for some characters. Working on this for a future update

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks as always!
Also, just a random thought, but realizing as I'm taking mid-terms for like the third time now that; while some of the info may not be true; we're actually learning a wild amount of random factoids through this game lol.

(+2)

Couple of suggestions:

  1. Would be great to have more advanced settings for things like General LLM vs NSFW LLM. Gemini is great for your prompts for classes and general dialog, but has too many refusals
  2. Better UI for your stats (e.g. how many points do you  need for good, godly, etc.). Could probably use a dialog menu when clicking on the stats
  3. Better UI/tracking for project/showcase status
  4. I think better prompting/memory is needed for project status. Sometimes you finish the project but your partner still wants to work on it. I also think that working on a project should also prompt if you want to work with your partner, instead of just doing it by yourself or randomly going to the library.
  5. Character behavior is a bit repetitive. For example, Isabelle always has her finger on her lower lip in every scene.
Developer(+1)

Thanks for the suggestions Potatoman! Will work on these for the future. For now, what I can tell you are stat tiers are 0/15/35/60/100. Also, we don't classify whether a project is a group project or not so the game doesn't actually know. You can work on a project with someone by declaring an action via freetext like "Work on chemistry project with Sara".

(1 edit) (+2)

I keep starting over so I'm not sure if I'll ever finish the game to the end lol.

One thing I notice is if I click anywhere outside the chat box, it clears my current unfinished input. Can be empty space, or even the logs button that I regularly click to review what was said and cater my responses. I have to remember to copy my draft before reviewing the logs. Is it possible for it to not clear when we click off?

Developer(+1)

Hi Megumint! I added this last patch to test it out but I found it a little annoying and other players have complained about it too. Will remove for the next patch

(+1)

I believe there was an intentional reason for this change but yes it bugs me a lot. losing what I typed because I want to click another tab, check the log or save the game is annoying.

(+2)

It took me a while to get 12 characters created because I was being picky with the sprites and personalities matching my existing character cards while having to cut down the tokens from the original descriptions heavily, but I finally got a good amount of playtime in and made it about a month in, just after Valentines. I very quickly realized the flaw of porting over a bunch of characters I had already made, which is that it's very hard to pick one to pursue because I'm already somewhat invested in all of them. Also a lot of them are horribly dysfunctional and I feel bad leaving them alone.

Despite that, I had quite a lot of fun so far. It might be just because it's something new and refreshing, but this is one of the best experiences I've gotten out of AI RP in a good while at least. Having a schedule and not spending 100% of your time with the same character makes it a lot better for slow burn relationships than the usual 1 on 1 chatbot formats. I do have some concerns that things might get repetitive now that I've hit the lovers stage, but I'll have to keep playing to find out for sure. I can always start a new playthrough and go for the other girls if I get bored.

I was also able to pull off FemPOV surprisingly well just by adding the line "The reader is actually female, all text that states or implies otherwise is a mistake." to my character bio. There's a few hardcoded spots, like the menu saying a character likes "guys" with a particular stat, but in the game itself I've not had any issues.

For some specific feedback, suggestions, and questions:

  1. It can be hard to write the character descriptions since you can't test the way characters act without starting a full playthrough and then managing to find that character in game. It would be nice to have a way to trigger a scene with one or more characters from the main menu or manage characters menu. Maybe an option to pick 1-3 characters, set their relationship ranks for the scene, and give a brief description for the LLM to start the scene from?
  2. I would enjoy a better place to put secret info for characters. Right now I have to put it in the personality or backstory sections, but it bugs me a little because that info gets shown in game (Which is a silly complaint because I already wrote the characters, but still). I think having a section labeled as secret info might also work better to prevent other characters from mentioning those things and prevent the characters themselves from bringing them up. It might mess up if characters forget that you've learned a secret though.
  3. More control over character majors and their preferred classes would also be nice to guide the game's schedule generation. You could always put this info into the existing fields, but this should only really be needed at the start of the game, so it would be a bit of a waste of tokens to keep sending it. A section in their definitions that's only used at schedule generation would be great for this. Some more global options for guidance on schedule creation could be nice as well. I sort of managed to do this by adding a few lines to my character bio, but just being able to mark down a few classes you want or rules of what types of classes should be available would be nice. I've had a lot of overly specific classes generated that I could immediately tell were made for one character only, which breaks immersion a little, so a way to cut down on that would be nice.
  4. Tooltips for character Traits would be very helpful. The only one I saw a description of in game was High Standards. While I can take a few guesses about what the others might do, it would be nice to have that info. Unless you want them to be intentionally vague to keep them from being too gamey.
  5. Having the character sprites overlap some of the menus is very stylish, but one of my characters has a very wide sprite and ends up overlapping the menus, which makes some of the text unreadable. Maybe adjusting the size and positioning of the character or adding a cutoff would be a good idea.
  6. The fixed structure of returning to your room between each time slot can be a little awkward at times. For example I said I would spend the whole day with a character for Valentines, and after the sun set and the scene ended, it booted me back to my room and I had to go meet her again. Then after falling asleep together in her room, I woke up alone in my room. In the first case, it would be nice if the scene could continue automatically after transitioning to night, maybe with a confirmation dialogue to avoid accidental misuse by the LLM. In the second case, you wouldn't want to have to spend the whole day together, but being able to have a quick scene before returning to your room in the morning would help.
  7. Are characters at all aware of custom outfits? I added a fancy dress as a custom outfit for one character and hinted that she should dress nice, but she showed up in her normal clothes. I couldn't tell if that was a limitation or just the LLM not choosing to use the outfit. A few of my characters have custom outfits for things like shapeshifting, so them being able to use them on their own and change mid scene or before a scene would help a lot.
  8. It would be nice to have icons on the map even for locations where there aren't any characters. Figuring out what locations are around can take some time since only a few are labeled on the map. Having a list of options could help meet new characters that you don't have contact info for. In my case, it took almost a full month to finally bump into one of my characters, possibly because the locations she frequents aren't ones that any of the characters I was friends with do.
  9. How do friendships between characters work? Are they just randomly assigned, or does the LLM decide who should be friends? I had a character who's described as being very offputting and she ended up having a surprising number of friends (any number was surprising really). I also see she is no longer friends with someone who she became friends with at some point.
  10. Is it possible for 2 characters to become lovers? I tried playing wingman for a little bit, but the characters themselves didn't appreciate it much.
  11. Can characters change their schedule? I see one character posted an update saying she dropped a class, but I don't know if that actually happened or not since I wasn't in the class. It would be fun to convince a character to swap to your classes.

That became quite the wall of text, but I think that's everything for now.

At the very least for point 3, you should be able to input your own character's major and have two classes be added to the schedule.

Great suggestions! I would find #1 especially helpful since I've been experimenting with Female POV and Male NPCs.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback dontcare015! Glad that you're enjoying the game. Some of the features you mentioned are already on the dev plan (Scene creator, empty location pins on the map, class schedule changes for characters). As for your questions, here's some explanations:

3. The LLM is specifically instructed to create an "interest" class for each character that only that character would take, which does result in very obvious picks sometimes. It's in the game for people who want to take a class with that specific character

4. I do prefer vagueness in the game to avoid too much mechanical optimization. But I don't mind sharing outside of the game if people would like to know.

Mood-swings: Character's mood cycle descriptions are more extreme
Disagreeable/Good-natured: Higher/Lower chance to increase affinity with other NPCs
Materialist: Prefers gifts that cost more than $100 and the last 5 gifts instead of 3 affect disposition
Terminally Online: Posts more on Bunnyboard and the last 5 posts liked instead of 3 affect disposition
Promiscuous: Starts the game with the harem tag (doesn't receive negative disposition from cheating rumors) and receives "down to fuck" status on certain days of mood cycle

5. What menus is this a problem on? And would you mind providing the sprite for me to test?

 6. I actually would love to add this but since a lot of game logic is tied to the beginning of each time slot this is probably a complex add for quite a bit later.

7. Currently, all custom outfits must be set manually. But I've already made it so that you'll be able to write instructions to the LLM in the next update. Stay tuned!

9. Friendships are randomly generated for characters who are upperclassmen, while freshmen start as strangers to everyone. Over the course of the semester, as they meet on-screen and off-screen, their affinity towards each other randomly increases/decreases. Right now they can only be friends, but in the future I want to make it so they can date and breakup.

11. Characters can't change their schedule, except for freshmen who may sometimes pick up a part-time job later in the semester

Glad to know some of those things are already planned, and thanks for the answers!

For the menu overlapping issue, I saw it on the bunnyboard profile and on any pop-ups like for when you get someone's contact info or become friends. Here's the character I was using: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B0uQhEnnXiPqS79DsA_Kza_QJ2_qZX92/view?usp=shari.... It'll be pretty obvious why I was having this issue with her. I was very surprised her image generated without getting cut off on the sides.
