I think this game was nice.

I specifically liked the graphics, gave me the Gameboy feeling.

Here are a few suggestions if you plan on updating the game after the jam :

  • This type of enemies were very annoying, their pattern is too simple, you just have to escape. I think you should add a way of dealing with them (the B key isn't used in the game), and also add others hazards : a moving one (like a spiky ball back-and-forth on his axis).
  • A more varied music would give more ambience.
  • Mabye adding some special powerups instead of gold would make the game even more fun.
  • The minigame can be easily done just by spamming the button, without timing, 95% of the time it was faster than playing normally. I think you can mabye add a cooldown after a press, or even just a limited amount of tries.

Anyway, good luck ! That was fun.

Fun stuff! I played some other entries with digging mechanics and yours is the most fun one so far.  If you're working on a post-jam version, i'd recommend...

  • The enemies are so annoying! Luring them to a corner the map was pretty fun (lol). Maybe some other way to deal with them (+ a reward) would be great?
  • Some treasure variations would be cool (A map that reveals a better 'X' spot with better rewards? A crab power-up that protects you from enemies?)
  • No music was kind of a bummer. Did you check on discord? There's dozens of composers looking to collab every jam. :)

Anyway, congratulations on submitting a cool entry :) Gamedev is plenty hard!
