Pretty addicting, the difficulty in levels varies wildly though. Sometimes youre unstoppable and sometimes its really hard to more horizontally as pawns can only (mostly) move up and you get stuck. But great entry, makes you feel smart when you clear the whole board and escape in one move!

very interesting to play the game; keep making more levels and try to launch this game

Oh your game turned out to be a brilliant tactics, I’m really impressed. With permadeath and limited lives there’s real tension here (and that X-COM-style music maxed out the feeling), sometimes I’d literally chain-hop into the next room with one HP right from the start, hoping and praying a heal would spawn.

In my opinion your game is one of the best games in the jam, congrats!

I bought pretty much every game on Steam that uses chess pieces as the main design element. Starting with "Gambonanza", continuing with "Shotgun King", and ending with "Chessplosion".

It is always nice to see more games like this. 😍

Please do not take this as criticism, just a few ideas on what could be improved:

1. I think it would be great to have a button to reset the current room instead of going all the way back to room №1.

2. Right now, RMB resets the whole chain of actions. It would be awesome if it only undone the last action, while resetting the entire chain was assigned to a different button.

But overall, the game is absolutely excellent! Well done! ❤️

Thanks for the kind feedback, it means a lot coming from a fan of the chess genre.

You also have some great suggestions and I'll consider trying to integrate them if I get back to working on the game.

Game is so cool the concept of combining jam with the chess theme is a genius move

Yooooo I really liked that game! That was a pretty use integration of the chain theme into chess, and it's great to see another board game in the submissions, I made one myself too lmao

Great job on the aesthetics y'all went with as well, I really liked it :)

The retro Game Boy-style dungeon crawl with chess pieces is a really original mashup, and the tutorial dialog explaining left-click/right-click/spacebar was clear and well-presented. I had trouble getting my rook to actually commit to a move after selecting it and the exit tile — I may have been missing a step, but a visual "selected" state that's more distinct from the idle goal-marker pulse would help players confirm their input landed.

Developer

hey thanks for trying the game and for the feedback. It’s a good idea and I’ll make the change.

I’m a bit confused by the rest of the message though, are you saying you were not able to get past step 1 of the tutorial?

Nice puzzler! Reminded me of a less-violent version of Shotgun King!

Developer

Thank you for playing.

I haven't played Shotgun King before but you're the second person now to reference it so maybe I need to check it out!
