Very nice unique concept, a couple words that showed up could have had multiple solutions though but only accepted one, other than that, it was a fun short game. Maybe a lives system could be a good addition if you took it further

Developer

Thanks for playing and thanks for the suggestions!!

Cool game, very well presented, and good music. Maybe a little more peril would be good, but I can see from other comments that you tried it and rolled back, which is very sage. I had to with mine too, or I'd have just got comments of frustration

Developer

Thanks for playing!!
Yes, some decisions have to be made, even if its not a cool one.

This:

"I don't understand", and then

"No time for questions!"

Reminds:

Fun Lois and Peter's dialogs from the Family guy.

I liked you used words which are "undestandable common words" - not like science or dictionary words. Cool game.

There occurred letters for words which could be used for several word combos. I guess there could be an item that being revealed after get Word letters correct, so there could not be "several answers" for the Word/item.

Also font variations would be great expansion for the game; elven instances/books could use elven fonts, dwarven dwarf fonts, undead dark fonts, and so on. Also words/items could be related to according (faction) themes.

I notice that while there is wardom battleground background music and also "no time for questions" in hurry, in actual game there are no "hurry" at all. This concept could work for slow puzzle game or action game - not sure which this is suppose to be, but based to lore should be an action game.

Developer

Thanks for playing!! And thanks for the suggestions!!

I was planning for more intense, rime based game, but when I tested it with time and hearts, it was really hard even on a simple words XD (and for everyone who tested it), so I took the relaxing way to play it.

I will keep your suggestions in mind, as the factions and items (which can help) can look cool too.

I noticed the overlapping words, but couldn't fixed it in time before submitting.

Thanks again!!

Excellent entry, it's a simple game mechanic but it felt fun, the art and music was great, you even had story elements, I did the first 2 difficulties, maybe adding a leaderboard would be nice, that keeps a timer or something.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for Playing and thanks for the feedback!!
I was thinking of the leaderboard, but I choice not to as my submission was late at night.

I wish I could vote for you twice. Such a well done game. Thank you so much for the fun play

I did the easy and medium levels.

What engine or framework did you use. Where did the graphics come from because they are excellent.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank for playing!!
Godot 3 (for web HTML5 export), the graphics were premade from a bundle IDK which, and of course some tweaks to match the Jam)

Interesting idea.   well done with the storytelling interface.

The game seems to expect specific words which makes it a bit frustrating - I thought "LINTE" was "LINT", but apparently it's "LINE".   "PUFSFH" I thought was "PUFF".  "DPRCY" I though was "PRY". etc.

Developer

Yeah! some words can be tricky and can have multiple solutions.
Thank for the feedback and thanks for playing!!

Hey, well done on this, great little jam idea. I really appreciated the different fonts and the intro build up was done really well with the sounds and still images partly animated - nice attention to detail.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing!!

I like the humour in the dialog and love a word game. Art looked cool too. I did have some issue with screen size but it didn't affect game play.
