The Biggest Challenge
One challenge was keeping track of the game's design as AI kept suggesting new features. We sometimes added those suggestions, then later forgot about them because they hadn't come from our own original ideas. This made it harder to keep a clear picture of all the systems in the game.
AI-generated art also required a lot of cleanup. Character poses varied in size between animation frames, so the sprite sheets needed slicing, resizing and alignment. Transparent backgrounds were sometimes imperfect, leaving white edges around the sprites. Generating an image was only the beginning of making it usable in the game.

AI Tools Used
Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GPT image generation, Suno, and ElevenLabs. We also used edge-tts for the opening narration.

Areas Where AI Was Used
Early game design brainstorming and organizing our discussions into a design document; code generation and debugging; character, enemy, boss, weapon and environment art; animation sprite sheets and story panels; background music and sound effects. We also used text-to-speech for the opening narration. Our team made the final design decisions, selected and cleaned assets, playtested the game and tuned the balance.

The cool music, the protagonist who’s both cute and cool, and the intuitive, easy-to-learn controls are all wonderful.

Host

I was totally hooked from the very first story 🎃

The upbeat music and sound effects are both really exciting. I didn't have a chance to take any nice screenshots while playing because my hands were constantly busy, but I absolutely love the voice of this wizard who throws green pumpkins 💕

The pumpkins marked with an "X" and the scarecrows really add to the fun—it's the best!

I had a really fun time ✨

Developer

Thank you so much, michyo! We're really happy the opening story hooked you and that you enjoyed the music and sound effects.  Thanks for playing and for hosting such a fun jam!

OMG, this is amazing, I really enjoined the game!

I like so much the system of rooms, and the inventory with different types of weapons, and it feels so smooth and polished, also i liked so much the art work.

I really like the game, maybe the music can be better, but for 72 hours, it's perfect!

Awesome! Definitely had me wanting for more at the end but crazy that this was made in 72 hours. Love the artwork but everything felt polished. The only thing was the voice at the beginning sounded very artificial and the cinematic could've used for sound. Great game though!

Developer

Yes, we noticed the issues with the voiceover too, but we ran out of time to improve it, so we had to use basic text-to-speech. Thanks for playing our game!

Cute scenes and artwork were top notch! And gameplay fun.

Woah, this was super cool!

The artwork is great—not just in the story cutscenes, but also the smooth animations for the enemy characters, which really brought them to life.

It's amazing that a team of just three people put this together! As you can see in the attached screenshot, I had a blast playing all the way to the end!

Thanks for playing all the way through! So glad you enjoyed the art and animations!

Really enjoyed this one — it's basically Hades, but starring one small brave rutabaga, and I'm fully on board with that 🎃 The sound design and the whole atmosphere work great together, and the art holds up nicely.

IMHO the weapons could use a bit more fine-tuning, and the roll animation feels slightly rushed, but I was having genuine fun regardless.

Also "You've been carved" is a perfect line, but the game over screen itself could use some art to match - the little rutabaga really tried out there, it deserves a proper send-off.  Great work!

Developer

Haha, our little rutabaga does deserve a proper send-off! Thanks for playing and for the helpful feedback!

It was crafted with care and was very entertaining.

The art and background music were both well-made.

The difficulty level was just right, and I really enjoyed it.

I was thrilled when I lined up three swords on the slots and got a powerful sword.

Thank you for the fun game!
