The Biggest Challenge
The challenge was the polish, not the game. The core loop took a couple of hours the last bit of feel took forever, hit-stop, squash-and-stretch chomps, parallax, light pools, colour-blind-safe hazard markers, adaptive audio. Making it feel alive with juice was the hard part vide coding

I don't know—it's not just the sound of eating; it's the combination of all the different sounds and the music that really reminds me of Minecraft, which I absolutely love. Even though they're completely different games. This is really great.
It's a simple game, but it's a lot of fun to play. I also like that you can play it casually using just the mouse.
And yet, it doesn't end up being just a game where you simply pick up items—that's why I keep wanting to play it for a long time.
It was a wonderful gaming experience!! 😆
Thank you so much, michyo! Hearing that the sound design and music gave off those cozy Minecraft vibes means a lot, sound feel was a big focus! Really glad the mouse-only controls felt smooth and that the core loop kept you coming back. Thanks for hosting such a great jam! (AGAIN)
I really liked the movement, is so smooth following the cusor, the sound of eating remembers me a lot of minecraft sound, I liked the style, dark, shadows, purple, the rays on the background looks incredible, maybe an online leader board will be incredible for this game, also I liked the background music, and the VFX of the rutabaga. Good game!
(sorry if my English is not good, I speak Spanish)
Thank you for the awesome feedback! (Your English was perfect!) Really happy you enjoyed the smooth cursor movement, the dark aesthetic, and the rutabaga VFX.
I actually just released an update that adds the global Top 100 leaderboard you suggested, along with UI fixes and crisp fullscreen support! Since it just went live, the top spots are completely open, give it a shot and see if you can claim #1! ¡Gracias
The zombie moves really smoothly, and the whole thing is immediately intuitive — I was playing properly within seconds. Good fun!
My one note: I wanted a bit more speed out of him, especially when food lands on the far side of the screen. Though maybe that's the point — he is a zombie, after all 🧟 Nice work!
Thanks for playing! Really glad you had fun with the gameplay loop. Good news, I just updated the game with some polish fixes and added a global leaderboard! Hope to see your name up in the Top 100!
The core gameplay loop was fun though I wasnt very good at it. I like the effects as well - looked well polished!
Thanks so much! Practice makes perfect, but I'm really glad you liked the visual effects!
Since the main character is a zombie, that explains all the groaning! Though it might be a bit tough for people who aren't into zombies (lol).
The shockwave attack with the rutabaga is super fun and feels really satisfying to hit!
The controls are simple, and the stiff movement actually feels really fitting for a zombie, which I thought was a nice touch.
Just a couple of small things—as you can see in the screenshot, part of the UI display seems a bit misaligned. Also, the BGM loop on the GAME OVER screen felt a bit too short, or maybe the loop transition was slightly unpolished, so refining that might be a good improvement.
Thank you for the detailed feedback and showing off that awesome high score! 🧠🎃 Glad you enjoyed the rutabaga shockwave. Good catch on the UI and BGM loop, I’ll try get round to polish those for the post-jam build!
The sound of the zombies eating vegetables is really satisfying.
The controls feel great, too, as the character follows the mouse movements precisely.
I thought the inclusion of a hunger gauge—in addition to taking damage from hitting lanterns—was a unique touch.
If I had to ask for one more thing, an online ranking system would make it even more fun.
Wow, that's an incredible high score, thanks for sharing the screenshot! 🧟♂️🔥 Really glad you enjoyed the crunching sound effects, controls, and the hunger gauge. An online leaderboard is a fantastic idea, and I'll definitely look into adding it for a post-jam update! If i get round to it lol
Fun game, I just wish the zombie could move faster, he is not fast enough when food drops on the opposite side of the screen, limiting the potential combo that you can get.
