Liked the music and the not looking mechanic (Let those goblins go wild!). Overall a relaxing game, would have loved a way to change settings when playing and maybe the movement not only on the 4 directions.
I like the visuals and the theme a lot. It would be nice to walk a bit faster because while exploring there isn't really much else to do besides walking. Also I went into the tavern building and items reappeared outside but I couldn't pick them up that time again which felt a little weird.
The music makes it relaxing and it was a nice and short experience overall that could be polished with a bit more UX improvements.
Good job!
Great concept and solid visuals! Overall, it's good work. The 'Autumn' theme works perfectly, though the limitation feels missing. For gameplay, adding diagonal movement is a must for a better feel, and it would be great to support left-clicking items or using the mouse scroll to cycle through the hotbar. Briefly displaying the selected item's name would also help players know what they are holding. Additionally, the mission text in the corner is a bit hard to read; ideally, goals could be communicated visually.
Had a bit of a problem with mouse inputs in the web, but other than that a very cool and fun entry once you get used to the movement!
Nice choice of art and music which made for an overall comfy vibe. It was a bit confusing both input-wise (I kept trying to scroll to move through my inventory) and it was hard to know what was in my inventory at any given time. Good work on the game though!
The overall art is cute. Funny how the goblins are getting rowdy in the tavern lol, that definitely feels very like a tavern full of goblins. Both the farming gameplay and music is very cozy! Though I did spent a bit of time trying to find the cellar and figuring out everything in it, personally it might be better if there’s some ways to indicate the intractable objects/locations etc. Also the collision can sometimes be a little confusing. Still overall that’s a pretty impressive game.
My partner and I enjoyed this one - it's a very ambitious project. Well done on implementing so many features!
We ran into a bug where we tried to pick up two types of items at once and the the pickup sound effect looped for eternity, - we had to close the game and restart to get rid of it. We also ran into the bug described in the itch page.
Things we liked:
- The overall concept of the game was well thought out and fit the autumn theme well
- The music and cozy aesthetics
- The goblins fighting and getting up to shenanigans inside the building
- The stardew-like farming system
Things that could be improved:
- The controls. They could be more intuitive - LMB and E actions could probably be combined into one input and we kept trying to scroll through the inventory or click on it with the mouse like in stardew (we realize this is probably harder to implement though in two weeks)
- It would be nice if there was a label shown when hovering over items in the inventory or if it showed a picture of the item you need for quests so you knew what to look for.
Overall this is an awesome entry and a creative idea and we enjoyed playing through it!
Great relaxing game. The soundtrack is awesome, art style as well. The game does have depth which i truly enjoyed. And the use of the limitation was very funny and creative. As others already mentioned, diagonal movement is really necessary. That plus also names for the items you pick up, same as the other guy commenting, I had no idea what was I picking up. But still really nice game :)
Yes the movement choice seems to be the most annoying part for most people. And I did add a legend to the pause menu that shows the player what items are what, but I’m guessing not many people found that. A name above the item you’re holding would have been the play!
Thanks for playing, and the feedback!
I'm afraid I'm one of those people who can't add ingredients, so I couldn't finish the game.
Nevertheless, the concept is good and everything visual seems to be properly implemented. There are some visual artifacts between the tiles when you move, but minor things.
I feel that the autumn theme is good, but the "things change when you look away" is missing. I thought it was something about growing outside screen, but a pumpkin advanced in grow state when I was in the same screen watching it.
Some comments about the gameplay:
Anyways, good work and I hope you, the team, enjoyed developing it :)
Thank you for the detailed feedback and trying out our game! Yes unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to catch some of these annoying and game breaking bugs ahead of time as time got away from us.
Technically the tasks don’t limit the player from progressing through the game if they knew what to do as it acts more as a guide to teach the player.
And I did add a legend for the items in the pause menu however I’m guessing not many people found that without any guidance. Hindsight I would’ve liked to put icons of the items you’re looking for in the task description. Or pop up the name above the item like you suggested!
Thanks again :)
Art was nice, and I liked the settings and the environment. I noticed that you get teleported to the door instead of the cellar entrance when you leave the cellar. I think adding sound variations to footsteps would help as well, like random pitch changes.
Hey thanks for playing and we appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately time was not on our side to do the amount of testing and bug fixing that we would have liked.
Of course! You guys did well despite the time limitations.
Really liked the art style and the music. I only have 2 pieces of feedback. One: I found the movement quite annoying, next time maybe try make it so people can walk diagonally. Two: This might just be my error but i wasn't able to get into the Bar, idk why. Still Great work :)
Hey thanks for playing! The 4 directional movement was a deliberate choice to try and emulate the feel of old Game Boy games but we've had quite a few comments about diagonal movement so in the future I think we with go with normal omnidirectional movement. To get into the bar you need to interact (E) with the front door similar to the brewery and the cellar door.
Loved the art style, the goblins are so cute! I really liked the idea but I couldn't complete the game for various reasons.
So, here's some constructive feedback from me.
The idea is great but I feel that the player needs more direction, It might be helpful to have an indicator of where to go or maybe the instructions have to be clearer. I got stuck at "Collect Keg from brewing kettle" cause I couldn't find it after 30 minutes of searching. A tooltip that tells the player what they have in their inventory might be good as well as I couldn't recognize the items that were in my inventory after picking them up.
There is also an issue with the movement where trying diagonal movement slows down the player instead, so the player movement is limited to 4 directions. The collisions might want to be reworked a little as it was quite tough navigating through the world (there also seems to be a random intractable collision at the brewery stairs?).
But overall it was quite a charming game, keep it up!
Hey thanks for playing! Yes we had a few mystery bugs that showed up in build. The stairs collision one is especially confusing as it shows up at random times and we're not sure where its coming from. Sorry for the keg task you have to finish mixing the beer in the mash tun before it will show up, and we were rushed at the end so our task manager wasn't as clear as we hoped. Thanks for the feedback!
Very cute game! I LOVED the goblins roughhousing in the tavern!
check out my game! Little Library
Hey Thanks for playing! I'll check it out now!
