Has the feature that allows games to appear in the Recently Updated list by updating the game and publishing a major devlog also become bugged?

Back in 2024 and 2025, almost every time I released an update, my game would appear in the Recently Updated list. Over the past year, I haven’t really changed anything about how I do things. I still actively promote my itch.io page on Twitter, and almost every promotional post gets over 1 million views. My game is also indexed again, yet it no longer appears in the Recently Updated list at all.

I’m really confused about why this is happening.

Can you link to one of the major-update devlogs you mean and the exact Recently Updated listing you’re checking?

During 2024 and 2025, whenever I updated my game and published a major devlog, it would usually appear on the first page of this list.

And my game hasn't appeared on the first page of this list even once over the past year. By the way, the game was randomly deindexed in July. Although it has since been reindexed, its daily traffic is still down by 80% compared to before.

Same here, can't get on most recent at all after several major updates / devlogs, and can't get anyone to take a look at the issue either.

Agreed. same as me. I think the feature on Recently Updated is bugged

This update has no effect on how recently updated and devlogs work. That system has different rules for eligibility .

I'd love to have my game show up on the first page of most recent too please. It has been a full month since it was published and it has never gotten this opportunity that so many others seem to get so freely and repeatedly. I released it in its finished and polished final state, and did only one update one day post launch to address player requests and add quality of life features, so I'm not even eligible for the refreshes that others get, because I completed the game before publishing it.

"by no means perfect" sure, but it feels very unfair like this. I imagine it can only mean the actual queue for manual review must be much much larger than those 215,000 that were mentioned to be released because I'm still in it with that month ago project, and another one as well from a couple weeks ago.

Can it be made so that projects that are neglected for so long, upon being indexed, get the refresh?
With the current rate of projects published on itch increasing rapidly due to AI, at this amount of time to be indexed, I will never be anywhere close to the first few pages of most recent even with a couple tags added to the criteria. I'd like to not be punished for launching with a completed game please thanks!
