Pretty simple yet fun gameplay loop! I think while there are some small things that need polishing, there also are small details that I really appreciated. Like the way you prevented the player from spamming gravestones to clean, it feels better and more rewarding to press the button calmly at set intervals, than to just keep mashing it :D About the polish, if I may, I would suggest that check the collision box of the pillar like tall gravestone; maybe add a sound cue before the grim reaper appears; and prevent coins from dropping unreachable areas. Solid work overall, nice game!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I definitely need to work on my collisions! He does make sound when you open the 1st gate and also when hes walking around but I probably should have made it louder! Thanks for playing and for the input!

Despite some problems (text markup, wonky collisions), the game turned out quite interesting. I got hooked on the gameplay loop you created with progression and unlocking a new level. And even once you get used to the game, when the monster appears it becomes genuinely creepy. Excellent work.

Developer

Im glad you thought the monster was creepy! and yeah, I definitely need more practice with godot's UI nodes! Thanks for playing!

Very good!

Thanks so much!

really nice core loop!
I was initially a bit confused about the "night ended" message after the clock passed by just an hour, but that's ok :)
after 11:00, when the ambient light almost entirely goes away, the stuff gets scary quite fast!

Developer(+1)

Oops! I forgot about that! I originally had the idea to make the game go night by night but ultimately ended up going by hours! Thank you for playing and pointing that out!

This is definetely the most enjoyable game that I have played till now in this jam. The gameplay was really fun.
For feedbacks, I wanna mention that colliders are bit messed up specially in the upper area near the first gate, another thing you have have used a pixel text like the pixel text provided in brackeys tutorial(maybe you were about to do it weren't able to because of timing).
Anyway good job : )

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Im glad you enjoyed it! I definitely struggled a bit with collision and sprites overlapping eachother. And I definitely gotta get some more practice with godots ui nodes! Ill watch the brackeys video again!

Thanks for playing!

I love the aesthetics of this game! Core loop is also great and the balancing was also very well done in my opinion!
The appearance of "him" got me pretty good, because it happened so suddenly :')
Awesome job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! i tried hard to make it balanced, it was very unforgiving at first haha

And im glad he got ya haha! Hopefully he didnt feel too much like a cheap trick! I spent a good bit of time on him but had to rush in the end!

Submitted

Nahh, not a cheap trick at all! It was just a skill issue on my end tbh :')

i can see the potential for this to be a very fun vampire survivor like game! well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Thats kind of what I was going for! Im still learning gamedev so I felt something like that would be most manageable!

Submitted(+1)

very solid entry for someone whos still learning, great job my friend!

There's no counter for money I think! I didn't know how that's supposed to work. The art is charming, and the ghosts aren't tough to beat. The game can be built on to introduce different pick-ups. This's nice game entry.

Developer

The counter should be in the top left unless there is a glitch of some sort! Thank you for playing!

Submitted

No I also wan't able to find the money counter bc of pixelation that made the text blurry(also money counter text was a bit smaller)

Good job. Simple but entertaining

Good loop -- kill stuff, clean stuff, collect money, upgrade.

the game feel could use a lot of work, but it's a solid design.

short but sweet game! got quite overwhelming with all the ghosts
