Oh wow.  I really enjoy the 1vAll genres.  reminds me of the Left4Dead LAN parties we used to do.  Plus getting all the multiplayer functions is a big lift.  I've only done single player things on UE5.  how did you decide to approach the online aspect of the game?

Good point!  This is my first jam and was super focused on my game and spiraling in a "what will I do" mindset.  I'm looking forward to seeing what other people think of when the theme is announced.  It reminds me of art classes when I was in school and all of us seeing what we came up with.  Now I'm even more excited.

What type of artist are you looking for?  3D modeler, pixel artist, concept artist?   Specifying now will help both you and the artist align on the jam down the line no matter the theme.

Agreed.  Best is to jump into it without being too critical on yourself.  You don't need to learn the most efficient way to do everything from the start.  Start with small projects (coin flipper, rock-paper-scissors, ect) and you will build knowledge and skills along the way that will improve the next project naturally.  But most importantly, have fun creating.

Absolutely!  2023 I was laid off from my company job and to stay sane between filling out job applications, I dove into game development tutorial hell.  Following tutorials did help me at the beginning to learn UE5 (chose it for the visual scripting cause I'm terrible at coding syntax) but making small and learning skills for them projects helped the most.  Instead of trying to learn everything at once, I learned what I needed for the project and then applied that to the next.  This will be a rest stop on your journey of growth.

What programs are you using to learn to make games?

What type of game is the commercial release?

The biggest hurdle I found when creating a game alone was knowing when to stop.  I kept on coming up with ideas and learning new ways to make things more efficient that I wasn't  making real progress on completing the project.  I had to edit myself and say "I'll write it down and add it later AFTER I get the basic components I planned for complete".

What was it about?

I'm terrible at remembering syntax but the logic for coding has always made sense to me.  I'm currently using the blueprint feature in Unreal Engine to make games.

Just starting my game development journey and I've been looking for a jam to help hone my skills.  I don't have any belief that I will place high in this jam but the journey of learning and challenging myself is what bring me here today.  I've release a game earlier this year just to prove to myself that I can complete the process of creating and releasing a game.  Now my next challenge has brought me here despite my anxieties.  I look forward to reading about the journeys of others and us all working together in the future.

What games genres do you have experience in (playing and/or developing) and what type of theme do you hope this jam has?  If it's your first jam (it's my first jam), what you you looking forward to learning?
