Hey! Thanks a lot for taking the time to check out the update and for the kind words! I really appreciate the offer as well.

For now, I'll keep working through the project's current development and see how my asset needs evolve. If I end up needing a specific asset or environment piece, I definitely won't hesitate to reach out depending on the project's progress and what I need at that point.

Thanks again for the offer, and good luck with your work! :)

v0.0.1

Hey ! I've made a lot of progress on the game recently, and the core systems are finally starting to come together.

WHAT'S NEW ?

  • 🕐 Added a complete in-game time system and day/night cycle.
  • 👹 Added the first monster with patrol, detection, chase, search and attack behaviors.
  • 🧭 Added navigation and monster spawning systems.
  • ❤️ Added player health, damage feedback and Game Over.
  • 🎵 Added dynamic threat music, monster sounds and other audio systems.
  • 🔦 Added the player's lantern.
  • 🎥 Improved first-person camera movement, head bobbing and leaning.
  • 🎬 Added the introduction sequence.
  • 🏠 Continued improving the house, lighting, navigation and environment.
  • ⚙️ Added the foundation for environmental interactions and settings.

A lot of work has also gone into fixing and polishing monster behavior, navigation, audio and the overall atmosphere.

WHAT'S NEXT — CHAPTER 1

I'm now preparing the first playable demo, including the introduction and Chapter 1.

CHAPTER 1 — "the Thing in the drain"

Chapter 1 will introduce the first major story sequence, include the First Boss. I'm also working toward several larger systems that will expand the game beyond the first chapter:

  • 👹 Bosses mechanics — Unique threats tied to each chapter.
  • 🧑 NPC System — Characters that can inhabit and react to the world.
  • 📜 Quest System — NPC-driven objectives and story-related quests.
  • 🗣️ NPC Dialogue — Conversations that help develop the story and characters.
  • 📖 Story & Chapter Structure — Building the game through connected chapters.

I'm currently polishing the story and thinking about how the chapters will connect, with the goal of eventually reaching a logical and satisfying conclusion.

I really hope you'll enjoy Chapter 1 and the direction I'm taking the game. There's still a lot to build, but the first playable demo is getting closer. Thank you for following the development and supporting the project.

Hey everyone!

I’ve just shared the first concept for a game I’ve been working on: Speak No Evil.

The Story

1823. Dwight is a wandering charlatan who makes a living by convincing grieving people that he can communicate with the dead.

He knows it’s a scam. The spirits aren’t real… at least, that’s what he believes.

But when the dead begin to answer, Dwight finds himself trapped between his own lies and something far more sinister. What started as a simple deception quickly turns into a fight for survival against entities that should never have been disturbed.

And the worst part?

The more he pretends to speak with the dead, the more they begin to speak back.

The Game

Speak No Evil is planned as a survival horror game built around two interconnected sides of progression.

🕯️ The Deception You’ll run your fraudulent business, taking on clients and manipulating them through dialogue-based quests. Your reputation, the information you uncover, and the resources you acquire will shape your progression.

👻 The Horror Behind the deception lies something much darker. You’ll eventually have to confront supernatural entities, using the knowledge, tools, and resources you’ve gathered through your “business”.

The two sides are meant to feed into each other: what you do during the day may determine how well you survive what comes after.

The concept is still very much a work in progress. The story and gameplay mechanics will evolve over time based on my own vision, experimentation, and your feedback.

I’ll try to share regular development updates as the project takes shape, and I’m also hoping to release a first playable demo in the future.

Thanks for following the project, and see you soon!
