How does the game fit the theme?
You trust no one in the workplace and must deduce who you can and can't trust in order to successfully evade alerting the boss that you know of his wrong-doings.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Thumbnails of suspects was made by picrew, with assets from Makowka
background music is clup penguin pizza parlor music

Great Concept for the theme! i like that you used a Club Penguin soundtrack!! i love this!
Game feels really clean, and the background music is moving and good. I think this is a really good take on the theme!
Looks like a deduction game where you constantly read emails to figure out the story between them. I also noticed I can place notes and cover the entire wall haha.
Good game, interesting, and it was cool to see all the storylines between characters and such. My only gripe is that it was difficult to understand what the actual objective and mechanics were for a bit, but it fun after I got it. Good job!
I really like the ideas behind this game and its potential. The whole corkboard murder board provides a great tactile feel to things. I understand the concept of what's going on and kind of what I need to do, but it was pretty hard to map out, especially with having to remember all the controls. Having a graphic somewhere of the two examples with the same mail item and what the board would look like in the keep and trash scenarios would have been really helpful. It could be worth editing your game page with updated instructions and this type of example. I also didn't understand the circle asking about the cop piece of things at all, I was expecting some extra information to pop-up about that conversation at the end of the week or something.
Definitely doing a pass on streamlining the interaction mechanics would be helpful post-jam. Like having to click again on the board and fiddle with tab to select suspects was cumbersome. It'd be great to just have clicking be the primary interaction, then have buttons to keep or trash mail, and when you add a new note to the board have it be a choice menu of the suspect you want to add, avoid the whole having to interact with the note. Having a manual advance to next week after the mail has been sorted would be helpful too, as if you don't just put the mail down again after and make a note, then you have to wait a few seconds and have to keep that info in your mind.
Also, what prevents you from just trashing all the mail? It could be handy to have something like 'suspicion' where if everyone hasn't gotten a piece of mail by the end then that's a losing scenario too.
yeah I think we dumbed down the concept of the game a bit too much. We don’t have a good prevention in place to keep people from just dumping everything LOL. We wanted to make sure it wasn’t too too complicated.
A manual advance is a good idea , I had only thought about it post jam submission. And the interaction mechanics do need work. I wanted to touch up on it but we were pushing to finish the project and I didn’t want to break everything. During development I tried keeping all the keybinds on the left side so you didn’t need to take your hands off the house. I may be a bit biased because I use tab as a keybind a lot LOL
This one was really good! It feels quite polished, although at the beginning I was frankly confused over how to play it. Once you get the hang of it, it’s really good! Great work!
It was a really interesting idea! I really enjoyed it, and the visuals are very high quality. Great job!
ohhhhhhhhhh you have to place a note, open the note, then push tab to access the suspects. I spent the first few minutes thinking I was just in some kind of mail sorting phase. Then I wonder what the point of keeping vs trashing the mail is
I wish the track looped, it was smooth. Was that made by the team?
Playing back through again, I’m still not sure how to do what the lose screen suggested. I just keep stringing pictures and sorting mail
I tried pushing a change to loop the music and the game became unplayable somehow so now im afraid of making any fixes. Also the music is club penguin pizza parlor OST LOL
This is entirely on me, you inspect the photo , then left click to choose someone. You want to be choosing someone who has no connection to Isaiah and the boss. The point of sorting the mail, is to create the relationships. So mail from A-> B hasn't been sent yet. IF you trash it, then they dont have a relationship and wont talk. If you don't trash it then a relationship is formed
Sorry thats a bit on us, on the lack of explaining and vagueness of notes
Not gonna lie, I was a little confused. I pinned two things to the bulletin board, but it was just empty photos since that's all that happened when I left clicked it. I sorted through letters and I was not really understanding those at all. I trashed ones that came off as rude and kept ones that seemed ok. I'm not sure if I'm missing the point of the game. Seems like it could be a really well done game!
Sorry I think we did a lack of explaining.
You read the mail, if the mail is sent, A relationship is formed between both parties, thus they talk. If you trash it, their is no relationship.
Your goal is make these understand, and manipulate these relationships. So the news doesn't flow back to the boss / his goon.
Having a corkboard and pinning suspects to it and attaching them with red string is loads of fun. I like the desk setup a lot, though I did have some confusion on my first run figuring out what I was really looking out for. The music does just stop at some point which is a shame, but overall I thought it was fun. I did have fun just putting a bunch of pictures on the board and connecting them with strings lol.
the physical desk sells it, pinning suspect notes to the board and tabbing between them beats a menu every time. keep or trash with left and right click is a good clean verb too. i couldnt tell what made a letter suspicious on my first few, a hint of what to look for early would help me trust my own calls
