This looks really good, it's laid out very well, it has some pretty crunchy mechanics that give the GM a very clear idea of how to run the adventure, all stuff that I love to see. The only things reading through that jump out to me are bits that get a bit brushed over, like at the beginning the party follows the embers for a three hour journey...does anything happen on this journey or do we just fast forward to the end? It might be interesting to add some random encounters or other obstacles that create memorable scenes, or if you just want to fast forward to the adventure that's okay too but the way it's written suggest that maybe the GM should try to stretch that phase out a bit.

Really great job!

This is fantastic, super usable and great little mysterious town!

Art is really well done! And the little corner flourishes really add to the theme. Building trust with the villagers is an excellent way to incorporate some skill checks and alternate resolution.

  • The Mountain Path isn't much of a location. It could be given more character or removed.
  • Location 5 doesn't detail what Lady Fan is doing there if rolled.

This feels like a very clear, concise and usable module! I can envisige this as a town that feels alive and great motivations to juggle both the deadly elements as well as some village building moments.

I'll agree with below - I think the "What needs doing" section is excellent and a great way to have a different resolution than what would normally be expected!

Awesome work

I'm struggling to find anything to actually concrit, you and your collaborators have done an excellent job. I think it's really exciting that this might be a cornerstone FF trifold, establishing solid footing for East Asian fairytale fantasy within FF, to be instep with what is often considered "default" or ""regular"" fairytales from Europe.

I'm curious what you were envisioning for the town's technology and look. Obviously this is the kind of thing a trifold doesn't have room for, but if I were to run this, I think I would probably look into researching Song dynasty villages and rural life, just in order to make 2-3 backup NPCs I could believably rely on for rumors, establishing what life is like for Lady Fan's people, what technology/tools are visibly around, etc.

Is that the era you were going for, medieval imperial, or something else? Just curious!

Presentation is excellent. Themes are well done.  Is well laid out and is clear how to use it. It does feel very dangerous, indeed likely lethal for players.

This has such a sharp, clean look to it. Really enjoy this one.

The design language established by Into The Fog is clear here and I think you also improve on it. This might be the most complete and useable entry I've read so far in that the set up, motivation, and core premise are all clear, concise and provided on page 1. The central tension of Lady Fan and her child circle the loop and from there we have an internally consistent situation! Super nicely done.

The "What Needs Doing" bit of this might be my favorite part. Motivation to help these villagers, hang out, and learn their plight is great and because of the core threat there's some stakes to player's actions.

Great ideas on the game design front such as the reading of dark tomes, although I might make the cost even more punitive ( maybe I'm mean).

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much! I've gotten comments that I should be more punitive and that I should be less so hopefully that means the balance is perfect lmao
