Almost everyone in Russia is reporting that no one cannot access the website without VPN.

Error type ether connection timeout or ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. Can the devs of itch.io confirm that the website is blocked for Russians?

Note: We’ve deployed a second IP address to the server as we attempt to debug the regional access issues. We’ve updated our DNS records to point to this IP. Please report back if you are still having issues accessing site.

The new IP is 45.79.115.66

You can use your system’s ping command to check if your computer is using the new IP address: ping itch.io

how happens with YouTube nonsense like this i mean avatar & icons not loading sometimes it works via WiFi sometimes it doesn't work via mobile Internet it loads almost always

We are not blocking any countries from access to our servers. Yesterday we had an outage due to a networking issue that resulted in our host transferring our primary server to a new IP. The updated DNS settings may take time to propagate.

First you’ll want to verify that your requests are going to the IP ~~45.33.107.166~~ (We updated the IP again, see above) to access itch.io.

~~Next, if you have access to curl you could run something like curl -v to see where the failure might be happening.~~ Thanks we have enough examples

Edit: Thanks for showing the curl output, next if possible, could you share the output of traceroute or similar command like this user has done: /post/10006445. Note that this command may expose your IP address, so feel free to redact it from the output before pasting it into the site.

It was not the site itself that was blocked, but a web game with terrible content, and the site itself fell under distribution

we go to the website "Registry Monitoring" from Roskomsvoboda, we drive it into the search "itch.io ". It becomes clear that the site was blocked because of some kind of game "Manya Lovit Vanyu".

This is perfectly normal, it means that you have established connection with the sever over HTTP and it’s instructing you to connect via HTTPS

It's not rkn. itch.io is not in their blocklist.

I've found out, that one game from the website is in Roskomnadzor blocklist

I've long observed this as their (rkn) standart practive for HTTPS sites: one link is enough to block entire site because "we don't know what page exactly is being requested" (not citation).

As you can see in this independent registry, that game page was blocked back in 2022. May that be that before itch.io update a few days ago they've been able to look though https and block that particular page only and now that it's no longer possible it falls back to blocking the entire website?

Correction: they must be blocking greenky-man.itch.io subdomain which should be possible I guess unlike blocking a particular page under http?

The symptoms (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED instead of ERR_TIMED_OUT) aren't like any other website blockage on my particular ISP as far as I've seen.

It's one game, not full site. It was in blocklist for a long time and there were no problems with other games.

It is also impossible to connect. Only works with VPN. Probably blocked by "Roskomnadzor"? 🤔
