Very smooth, liked the combat, could be neat with an end objective.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!

I had planned to make a boss of sorts to kill as objective; unfortunately the deadline forced me to focus on polishing it rather than adding more levels/enemies. I'll most likely add it after the jam ends.

Thanks for playing!

Understandable. Would be cool if you implented this later on. Looking forward to it

This feels like a complete game ! the graphics are nice, vfx and sfx are great, and the core gameplay is nice. I just wish there was a way to increase player speed, but I think it would have been less stressful so maybe it is better like this. The UI is really nice, and the gamepad integration is bonus points :)

Should have include the title music in the game tho

Good job, solid game you have here !

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Instead of increasing player speed was planning on adding a dodge mechanic for the player, unfortunately I did not have time to add it.

I did not include the specific tracks names, but I included the artists themselves in the credits.
Honestly I wanted to make that screen better and show everything, but due to the tight deadline I decided to just try to fit everything inside that one screen.

The title song is  Minimal Techno Ambient - Drum And Bass Loop by Musinova.

Thanks again!

Wow top notch VFX and the controller support was a really nice touch and felt really good! Fantastic job.

Nice entry, I really enjoyed it. The game got reaaaaally out of hand quickly after I picked up a single power-up and a horde of angry squares started sprinting at me with the speed of light XD

Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Hahah yeah, while the healing items lower the heat and thus the speed of the cubes, it really is missing balancing overall. One of the things I unfortunately didn't have time to do before the deadline.

I'm glad you liked it!

I enjoyed it a lot. The game shines with its polished details and satisfying mechanics. Props to you for the VFX, movement tech and explosion chains. Overall, a blast to play!

I'm glad you liked it, thank you!

Well done, fun to play! I wish there were more control over the heat balancing.

Developer

Thank you! I had more ideas, unfortunately the time constraint forced me to focus more on polishing what i had.

Thanks for playing!

Very pleasing game to play ! It is very well polished and it is a blast (ahah) to shot and move around

The premise of the Heat system is interesting, but it felt to me as just the justification of the game beeing more difficult the more you advance (wich is normal), and I didn't felt it as a "cost"

I don't know if there's a solution for this game to have more agency, like if you don't shoot at ennemies during a certain time the heat reduces, and the act of doing that unlocks other things (I'm in suppositions-territory, I'll let you think of solutions for this if you want to go firther ^^)

Also it was cool that the items served different purpose, there was definitively choices to make before picking up them like waiting for some amount of Heat or having more enemies on screen

Again, it was very cool to play this game, good job !

Developer

Thank you!

The plan was to make the heat constantly rise up but in a more controlled way, otherwise it would get overwhelming pretty quickly, that's why I decided to go for the shots and enemy deaths generate heat, instead of having it constantly go up.
The real "cost" is with the items, which give you health or damage at the cost of making things more difficult as time goes on.

I had a few more ideas to make it more interesting, unfortunately due to the time constraint we had, I decided to simply polish what I had as much as I could instead of adding untested / unbalanced mechanics.

I appreciate the input, and I'm glad you liked it!

I didn't read the tutorial and got super overheated, oops! You've made a nice game, good job!

Thank you!

That was awesome!  I was so surprised and delighted when the fence at the bottom of the screen went invisible just as I thought I was going to lose sight of my orb.   Very high polish level for such a short jam.  Well done very satisfying!

Developer

Thank you very much! adding the transparency was one of the hardest things to add to the game but I'm glad it worked, I tried to make everything as polished as possible.

I'm glad you liked it!

Really satisfying shooting/movement.  I really liked the explosion chaining. It felt super satisfying to pull one off. I also noticed there is some fun movement tech where shooting a wall perpendicular to you gives you a huge speed boost. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I had a ton of fun with it. It would be cool to build the level in a way where that kind of movement was incentivized.

Developer

It wasn't actually, it was an unintended "issue" from Unity physics! But I decided to keep it and develop it because it seemed like a cool little thing to give everything a bit more "chaotic" element to it. Glad you liked it!

Thanks for playing!

I can see that a lot of effort is put to make the UX better for the player. It is chaotic but in a good way. Non stop action and very satisfying to see the enemies explode. I think if the enemies came in waves and you had different upgrades in between the waves, it could be a good mechanic. But maybe you were not going for that vibe. Nevertheless  It is a very polished game and I enjoyed playing it

Developer

Thank you!
Indeed I had that idea, but given the time constraint I decided to try and polish everything as much as I could instead of adding sloppy mechanics that weren't fully tested. If given more time (maybe in the future) waves and upgrades are most likely the way to go.

Thank you for playing!

I’d like to comment more on the game’s details than on the game itself, because those are usually what draw me in.

I really liked details like the walls becoming transparent when they come into view and the quality of the fire VFX. Making it 3D is already extra work, and on top of that, you’ve added detailed scene and menu designs.

Well done.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! Specifically the walls becoming transparent and dealing with the minimap was probably the hardest part, I'm glad to see it paid off!

Thank you for playing!
