This is so fun, and I'm REALLY hoping you don't get disqualified for this T^T

I really hope you didn't get disqualified, but I really loved the game you made!

These cats didn't have a chance with me mwahaha. I like the idea, I think a more guided level design that emphasizes the use of each mechanic would be very useful and more insightful for the player to engage with the game, but that didn't stop the game from feeling satisfaying.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, that's fair. It just never came up in playtesting, people seemed to correctly figure out the controllers almost immediately with just the first room; it wasn't until the game was already published when I started seeing some people struggle to understand them, which is a shame because that's something I would've worked more on, but I became convinced that it was not gonna be a problem. Maybe in a future more polished version! I'm glad you enjoyed:)

I dont really get the second bar other then health but the game is simple yet fun, and I like the room variety! I wasent able to finish it cuz Im not good enough and the roomba pmo but it is quite a fun game!! Great work!

Developer

It's your spin meter!
And spinning makes you invulnerable!
Couldn't let you spin forever since that'd be broken oops haha
And yeah, there roomba can be tough, if you spin over the laser you get the spin juice back. There's also some rooms in which the roombas have less hp than in the :( room

Haven't really understood the mechanics of the game, like the blue bar and the purple bar (i think the purple one is health but im not sure) and the fact the player can delete bullets with their attack was an interesting choice, but the combat and room variety was fun!

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah unfortunately I had to do a last minute change that made everything less obvious. Purple is health and Blue is spin. Spin grants invulnerability!

And yeah, hitting bullets helps you recharge your spin bar.

The transition was sooo good lol. I did not expect that. The game is a bit hard but still do-able. Good Game!

Love the sudden transition into super serious into slightly less serious. Feels really polished and didn't have any glitches at all except for in one specific room after a jam and scratch post break (I think I went all right doors?) Those cats beat me tf up tho I can't lie I didn't stand a chance against em

Developer

Interesting, I'll look into the bug.

I'm really glad you enjoyed! I'm also very proud of that transition hahahah

This is really good for a first game! I was not expecting the vibe of the game at all from the intro screen, really enjoyed it haha. The rat power up section was also really funny. I did find the game hard! I think it would benefit a lot from some indicators for when an enemy is preparing an attack, because I often found myself getting caught out by an instant attack I couldn't react to. But I still really enjoyed weaving through all the bullets and taking the enemies out one by one :)

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I wanted to keep the real vibe a surprise, that's why I didn't include screenshots or much of anything, so I'm glad you appreciated it! I am also very proud of the 3 rat sections (I hope you found the 3rd, since that's my favorite one), they managed to make the person who was playtesting my game fully break out laughing even though he already fully knew what to expect.

The game is meant to be on the harder side (even if I did add a bit more healing and weaker enemies than originally intended), but I would agree that instant attacks can be more obnoxious than anything else. I guess in the moment I didn't think to make them flash a colour when they are about to attack, which would've been really helpful.

I'm glad you enjoyed, I am endeared to this project and I hope people like it enough for it to warrant polishing it out fully:)

Very happy to have been a part of this and to have completed my first game ever! I hope everyone can enjoy it!
