Reverse Suika game is a great idea and it's also very well polish. Also a cat is always a good idea.
Clever mix of pool with 2048! Very cute, and cat approved (I’ve got three watching as I type this)!
I'd love to eat a Floofy myself—it sounds so tasty, haha. Nice game mechanics that create a great combination of coziness, physics, and strategy.
Super cute and creative game, I can easily see myself getting sucked into it for a long time!
This was such a cute and pleasant experience! When I saw the makers of Loop Protocol were back at it, I just had to give this one a go, and it didn't disappoint. Such a unique take on the theme, and the art and sound design were just lovely. Best of luck!
It is an honor to be recognized in light of our previous works, and to know that we lived up to those expectations is incredibly gratifying to hear. Thank you for your praises, and I hope you enjoyed!
Nice job! The controls feel very satisfying with the indicators and how easy it is to control the charge/angle of each cut. And the presentation is lovely!
A very cute and simple game as a fellow cat enjoyer. It scratches a nice part of my brain cutting these balls into smaller and smaller pieces. Great work!
niko pfp spotted!
Thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed getting to the smaller and smaller balls!
Incredibly adorable, and very addicting gameplay loop! The sounds, art, and general game feel made for a very relaxing, fun time that I want to keep on playing!!
Fun game! Feels very cozy. Cheers to the developers!
Reversing 2048 into a billiards-like slicing puzzle is wonderfully original, and the floofs, cat-grandmother> framing, and piano music make it incredibly charming!
genuinely amazing. the gameplay was fun and creative and the ending was not too hard, the art was adorable, and as a pianist myself the music was wonderfully composed and performed. i especially love how the floofs all say 'thank you'! (btw my favourite floof was proably the 128)
Thank you so much! As the person who composed the music, it means a lot to hear praise from another pianist! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
Really cool concept, i like it it was really unique in this jam ! Something i noticed was that i could slice things while barely touching them, i believe that was made to balance the difficulty of the game, other than that nothing to signal, it was perfect, great jobb !!
This is a cool concept. I like how there are multiple strategies to get the requested floofs into the corners by cutting them directly or by using other floofs to launch them. The narrative is also pretty fun but I am a bit skeptical about how much these floofs enjoy being severed into a thousand pieces.
Overall, great job!
Really satisfying gameplay! The reverse-2048 concept combined with the almost golf or pool style control over how far you fire the floofs worked really well!
Some really nice touches I noticed (or at least think I noticed) was how generous the hitbox was for the bonus regions, and it felt like there was more friction in those zones so that if you fired something in there it was less likely to slide back out. It never felt unfair when something didn’t go the way I wanted it to.
There was one time where I intentionally shot one floof into the another of the same type and it just bounced off rather than re-merging. Not sure if I misunderstood that mechanic or possibly even misremembered exactly what happened. But other than that, I had a flawless experience!
Thank you so much for playing! You are probably one of the most observant player's we have, and you're right the hitbox is generous so that if any part of the ball glances the region, it will count as being in, and if a ball of the requested type is in the zone, we increase the friction to help the player out a little bit.
That instance where you intentionally shot one floof into another and it bounced was likely because of the immunity it has coming out of a cut -- you had the right intuition, but we added that safeguard to protect against a different interaction that might harm less skilled players, and as a consequence hurt your ability to do something really cool. Otherwise, I'm glad you enjoyed the concept and appreciated all the little things we did!
Great to hear that my intuitions were correct, and that I’m not crazy about the floofs not combining when I tried to make them do so. I think you are probably right to provide that immunity. It would definitely be more annoying to have that happen all the time by accident. Great work, and since I forgot to mention this in my first comment I also want to say that the framing narrative is adorable!
Really fun concept. Felt very polished. Loved the cat and the little "Yays" when you cut the floofs.
But, I definitely did start noticing my energy flagging after playing for a little bit. It felt like the initial 'shock and awe' of the concept had worn out and the actual work of playing the game wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be. But that might just be me.
Thank you for both the compliment and feedback and thanks for playing!
I appreciate the critical feedback--do you have any ideas of what you might expect that would keep it exciting for you? We're thinking about potentially improving or expanding on the concept as a follow-on to the jam, definitely feel that the latter half of the game loop needs improvement--so we would love any thoughts!
Sorry for the delayed response.
I've been thinking about this a lot, and I don't really have a good answer. I think part of what interested me in the idea was that I was almost expecting a puzzle game similar to 2048, but the physics of splitting was hard to control, so trying to bounce things or merge them back together always felt a bit tedious. I think that was the main drain for me.
So cute and relaxing! Totally love the music and CATS. Great work so cool!
Thank you so much! Sean composed the soundtrack and he rocked it! As a fellow cat lover myself, I can’t tell you how much joy I got out of knowing we had cats in game all along the way! <3
Might just be the best game I've played this jam, it's so satisfying and polished! The mechanics are very innovative, reminds me of billiards a bit lol, and it has just the right amount of difficulty. Great job!
Wahooo, thanks for the high praise! Billiards was definitely one of the inspos for our mechanics, among others. Glad you enjoyed!
such a creative idea & really cute execution.
found it really difficult though. didn't even get close in three tries.
Thanks so much and thanks for playing! And interesting, did you try targeting the corner locations as your primary objective or what was your primary strategy?
I mostly tried to use long cuts to get as many objects at possible, focusing on trying to get as many different sizes as I could so I could do any objective that appeared. The objectives where tricky though, I usually had too many pieces on the board blocking my way to the objective OR the number was too high. I went for the objectives whenever they felt achievable within 2 cuts. My closest run I had ~300 floofs left
Makes sense, thanks for sharing! If you feel like trying again, we treated the corner objectives like actually *the* main way to play the game, and felt in hindsight like our tutorial could have stressed that better--so you may have more luck trying to score on nearly every cut or get to scoring next. Those corner scores also give you a cut back, removing plenty of the pressure. Either way, thanks for playing!
thanks for the tip, i managed to win with 5 cuts left :)
i think the reason i de-prioritised the objectives was because they're often impossible. like when the objective is the same size as your biggest floof. as far as i know, there’s no way to move a floof without splitting it, so the only way to achieve the objective is to re-combine or get rid of everyone of that size so it gets rerolled.
Glad you were able to win!!
This makes a lot of sense, really appreciate the feedback - we're thinking about expanding / improving the game after the jam and we'll definitely consider how to improve this exact aspect. Much appreciated!
Gorgeous and so fun game, millions hearts for the cat grandmother
Thanks so much for playing and featuring us on your stream! It was so fun to watch you learn the mechanics. Plus, your Grandma Bambi voice was spectaculaire! <3
I swear to god I was absolutely sure I had already left you a comment, but guess not so I'll fix that :) It was a very enjoyable experience, reminds me of those early smartphone games in a good way btw, I would have absolutely loved have something like this in my phone back then. Super chill
Omg such wonderful words, thank ya kindly! We’re eyeing expanding or bringing the game to mobile after the jam, so stay tuned 👀
