I like the music, sfx, and colors. The tutorial  could use some work. Doubt I can play for very long though. I want to like the art but between the card motion and background motion and the font all 3 combined it kinda makes me feel drunk or something and hurts my head to look at for very long. I think the font maybe works better with the numbers than the letters. I like the card art and layout and systems though, can see potential. Oh and 1 more small thing but I think the sound that plays when clicking a card you can't select a card is just the no select sound instead of the no select sound and the clicky noise stacked together.

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear that the animations made you uncomfortable; I’ll probably include an option to turn them off in a post-jam version. The font will be modified as well, and a proper tutorial will be added. The clicking noise is only supposed to be triggered when you can select a card, so not having it when you can’t is intended.

Currently when I click a card that can't be played, I hear both the clicky sound and the nope sound mixed together. Giving the option to toggle the card effect would be nice, specially if you change the font. I think even just changing 1 of the 3 between font card effect and background motion might be enough for me since it feels like a combo of all 3 causing the drunken feeling.

Great game; the art is lovely—simple and minimalist—and the music creates a wonderful atmosphere.

It really reminds me of Balatro, so that's a great reference :)

Nice game :)

Extremely well done Balatro inspired game. Love the art style and the music was really a chill relaxing vibe. Great job!

You can definitely get past a few more rounds than that!

haha probably but I had other jam games to try

Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in Part 3 @ 2:06:00 <3. This was super addicting I would have played the whole stream if I had time!! Balatro vibez fsureee.

WHAT I didn’t know you were streaming since you didn’t post a link in the GMTK server today! You actually did pretty well for someone who didn’t fully read the How to Play (I’m guessing most people barely read it actually…), but you did miss stuff like the score predictors on the left and the sequential and color bonuses. It seemed like you kept trying to play long sequential queues at the end, which does give more points, but you shouldn’t waste your plays and discards trying to make it perfect. You were just one round away from a boss round by the way!

Loved finding good combos, tho Uno was just overly good (I like it tho). Forgot to write my score, but I think I died at like... level 30?

The art looks great, the music sounds nice, and I'm sure the system is well designed! However, I'm going to admit that there's just way too much going on in the itch.io page, and this game desperately needed a tutorial. It felt like I was reading a board game manual, and while I normally wouldn't have a problem doing that, I am sadly not at 100% brain capacity tonight. (This has been the 49th jam entry I've played, and each one takes a bit of a toll.)

Based on the other comments, I'm sure you've got a great game here,  and that I would probably enjoy it if I sat down for a good 15-20 minutes and tried to understand how it worked. Unfortunately, I'm a bit too tired to do that at the moment.    XD

Overall great game!

The premise is pretty simple, play cards in decreasing order and the more you can play the more is multiplied and what cards are on play can be used to modify and create interesting strategies.

I've gone through a build with free 1 card plays + the variety card where you get a high + with a variety of colors, and it really was a strong build. I kinda had to stop since I would be here for a long time! I mean, better onboarding may be nicer than text, but that feels more like a nitpick.

Other than the text being a bit hard to read, the music is nice, the sound effects, the general vibes, and the main gameplay loop.... The game is really solid. With a bit more content I could see this being great to go through.

Thank you for submitting to the game jam!

this game is visually impressive and i played it for a while i got to round 11. I picked it up quickly. Great soundtrack and sound design aswell! Well done for 4 days!

Oh wow! I love the art and effects of the game! Like that eye blinking? Or the cards rotating, its really nice, I was quite a bit confused how to play at first but I did get the hang of it, I think this is great! Congrats!

Interesting take on balatro-genre! Do the levels keep going or is there an end to them? I found a pseudo-infinite combo with “blast off” + “aezio” where I could keep selecting single cards for free and then save my */0 cards to ensure that I could play the queue for free as well - stopped playing after round 26, but this could probably go on for quite a while..

Overall really liked the concept and the execution! The game oozes with style and juice, so it feels quite satisfying to play! Would have loved to see more abilities of course, but I understand that its hard to add a lot in a jam timeframe. Other small additions that would be nice are a shop reroll, for the deck preview to actually show what cards are left over, and a slightly better tutorial (would be nice to have a tutorial that walks you through an example instead of just getting a wall of text)

Great work, really enjoyed playing this!

Developer

Wow, looks like Round 26 is the new highest round anyone in the comments has gotten! I feel like the Blast Off + Uno/Zwei/San combo may be a bit too overpowered…

Yep, the game is endless. I originally intended it to “end” on Round 15 before going into endless mode but that didn’t happen. And I definitely will work on a better tutorial as that’s a common issue people have with the game.

Very good game! Really enjoyed it! A nice twist on the balatro style! :)

Pretty cool take on a balatro style game that fits the count down theme. Really like your art style as well!

Lovely take on a balatro like game. The whole discard, draw and queue system surprised me at the start but it's a really interesting take on the genre, adds some interesting strategic choices
Game looks really good too, the cards and their animations are really pleasing :)

Really awesome game mechanically, love getting rewarded when I manage to get either all my cards the same color or as big of a sequence as possible. I kinda wish there was more visual feedback when scoring (like how balatro shows exactly how much each of your cards score), since I find it a bit difficult to tell what exactly was going on each time I scored. That said, the lovely art and chill vibes with the music make this game pretty hard to put down, great stuff.

felt like a balatro uno hybrid and its kinda addictive ngl, im in love with the art its so crisp. only extremely minor complain is that the how to play text was a lil unreadable, but maybe thats just me. awesome game

Submitted(+1)

i love balatro you recreated it very well cool game i like it very much good job Yousurname (@NalaFala38290)

Man I know you said you don't know about Balatro, but this actually is like a full copy of it, but the idea and unique style gives it an original vibe , feels soo good to play and has the potential to become a very successful game. Keep up the good work (consider trying my game if you can, I think you'll like it)

Very cool balatro-like! I wish there was a little more to spend money on once youve settled on your upgrades.

Developer

You can always sell upgrades to buy new upgrades in the shop. There’s also a legendary upgrade that allows you to turn cash into points, but I think I made the legendary rate too low.

Submitted(+1)

This is really fun!  I like the art and music and the gameplay is pretty intuitive.  Get those upgrade icons in there and it'll basically be done.
