How does your game fit the theme?
Rhythulet is a rhythm game where you are "counting" beats to attack and parry on time. Your health is also counting down, forcing you to stay in combat.

This game is really cool! I like the aesthetic and the music is catchy. At first I didn't understand what to do and I confess I'm not great at the game (tried like five times and couldn't get past the second person), however, was still quite fun.
I liked how instructions were given in-game though ("left-click to parry"), simple and easy to understand that. Although it probably should have been made clearer that health goes down on its own, and how to replenish that health (unless it's just supposed to be a time limit?).
A little confusing otherwise quite fun game!
Cool visual style and unusual post-processing! The game would be way more dynamic if the enemies were moving. However, I’m not sure why they still heal sometimes, even after a successful parry.
This game is so sick. The constant health loss gives such a good incentive to keep pressing on and not let up for a moment, the attacks feel incredibly satisfying to land, and the art is absolutely incredible. My only gripe is I wish there were checkpoints, as dying feels incredibly punishing, and I wish there was more, as this feels so incredibly sick that it's a bit addicting. Absolutely love it.
I'm not a fan of rhythm games, but I was getting into this. I was impressed by the art and the performance. Was sort of crazy to see this running so well in browser. A great effort!
Really fun and creative gameplay! It feels especially great when you're fighting the stronger enemies, get into the rhythm, and start trading blows back and forth.
The sound design is also great, with hits and parries being especially satisfying. I personally felt like the music got a bit too repetitive for the length of the game, but I know it can be difficult to create more variety within a jam's time constraints.
Great game, congrats!
this is so polished and professional, really blown away
This just hits so many sweetspots for me... The art, music and gameplay. So fun I would absolutley buy a version with more content of this (Levels, Enemies, Weapons, etc.). Hope you keep working on it!
this is super satisfying and fun! It took me a while to get the timing down but once I did it was extremely satisfying
The art is so good.
The health ticking down forces me to quickly find the next enemy to engage, and the game experience is just addictive.
There's always reviews saying that Sekiro is a rhythm game but what if a rhythm game is Sekiro? The answer is a crazy addictive rhythm action game with gorgeous artwork!
Enemies replenishing all their health when they did you seem to be a bit excessive considering that getting hit already takes a lot of time out of your life. And also that enemies regenerating one beat of health the moment you stop attacking them even tho you were parrying also feels a bit punishing. Even if successful parry doesn't damage the enemy I feel like the enemy shouldn't be rewarded for it with the regen.
Took me a bit to get used to the rhythm but once I did the gameplay is very satisfying with great game feel. I would totally love to see a post-jam version with more levels and enemies or even a commercial product of this. Totally going back in after my mouse hand isn't so sore anymore!
this game looks and sounds beautiful with good game mechanics that are simple yet feel rewarding enough to make fun, only complaint that its too short, would love to more enemies and levels.
A very cool idea packaged in a BEAUTIFUL art style. Fantastic job!!!
Really cool idea and vibe!! I appreciate how well-timed it felt and that the flow wasn't too hard to understand quickly!
Out of all the rhythm games I've played for jams, this one got me into the flow state the best. This you've got excellent game feel, the sound and visual effects for hitting and parrying are so satisfying. The blue and yellow enemies are really fun to fight, and your art style is really cool. I love the sketchy drawings on top of the stylized background. I'd play a lot more of this game!
I love this game so much. The design is simple but allows for a lot of variation, and if you wanna expand I'd love to buy this on steam. The artwork and music are also so good! It should have been much higher imo!
Piers & niosis, I can't believe you made this in such a short time span!
Not only are the visuals and sound incredibly unique and polished, the rhythm gameplay is also super addicting. I thought the worldbuilding and narrative framing of the game were super interesting as well, and the fact that this runs as well as it does on web is a feat of optimization.
In terms of feedback, I'd say that if this were a longer game I'd love to see some combat variety. Maybe there are combos or weapons you can unlock that have various benefits, or enemies who change the song on you, like speeding or slowing the tempo. I would also love to see your worldbuilding expanded on in small cutscenes or dialogue, perhaps in a hub world environment between levels.
For a game jam though, I think this game is perfect. Wonderful work!
Thank you so much!!!! and yeah I agree that there are so many cool directions the game could go. It kinda killed me to have to stop working on it! Maybe we will take it further at some point :)
Excited to see another rhythm game! Fun to play with a great look and sound! The lighting worked really well for me with the sketched art style. I got a bit frustrated at the knockback when fighting the yellow knight on top of the stairs, and wished there was a checkpoint to keep my progress. But the combat felt tight, both hitting and parrying so I kept at it!
Really really cool game, art style music and idea. The only thing I would say is it seems like "I click correctly on this beat" seems to make my sword swing on the following one? That lack of responsiveness feels a little distracting when I'm trying to focus on hitting the correct beat. But that's honestly quite minor considering the game as a whole
Thank you for playing!!!
Also, could it just be an audio latency thing? The attacks aren't "evaluated" until a short time after the beat actually lands, so you can afford to be pretty late with your inputs. but especially if you have wireless headphones that could be messing it up
Unfortunately this game was absolutely impossible for me. I really dig the style of it but I got hard stuck on the second tutorial enemy. I feel like there must have been a bug with me getting hurt just walking from the first enemy to the second right? It does have a very cool vibe to it and I wish I could experience it more, but I think it also is much much to hard for me even at the very beginning, bug or no bug.
Play-through, or rather attempt:
There's no bug. Your health "withers" when you are not in combat to keep the pace of the game up. I think you would've been okay if you got a hang of the parry! It's not really a game where you can afford to take your time.
Thanks for playing though!
Oh but when I walked slashing towards the second enemy it felt like I didn’t loose health or at least as much, even though I wasn’t in combat?
you are definitely still losing health in the video 😅
Amazing game, the music is perfect, the art is perfect and the combat is the best, and they all blend together so well 10/10. The only thing is I didn't really understand how the countdown is implemented, but other than that its perfect
