This is a very enjoyable game with really fluid controls! I just wish there was more! I played this on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/nebsterlive
I liked this game. It would be better if you had to hold the drill down button. Also. What shape is the player's hitbox? I could stand inside of a spike until I move deeper into the spike.
The player and spike are both square hitboxes, but the collision hitbox is smaller than the visual to prevent unfair deaths when the player barely grazes a spike. If we remade it, we'd probably expand the hitbox size but the spikes were a last-minute addition so we didn't have that much time to polish them. An earlier prototype required holding the button to drill, but it felt much less responsive than the new version so we changed it. The new version is also better for the sections where you have to spam through blocks.
Very cool! Getting used to the jumping/drilling mechanic too me way too long, but then it got very addicting. Great artstyle, loved the seamless level transition and restarts! Very well done!
Got baited by that one long bridge everytime, not nice :D
Incredible entry - very clean and readable gameplay.
Well done! I reached level 9 with a score of 1200+.
i ain't no real pro, but i really enjoyed this game! the snappy level cuts, the colour palette, the gameplay, the very cute drilly the drill, i loved all of it! this was a really well done game, 10/10 <3
One of my favorite games of this game jam. The movement is really fun and the game is so polished
I really liked the movement and mechanics of this game! Te art was really good tho. One nitpick tho would be: I would have rather had it so that levels were not randomized so that I could practice a specific level more because that's usually how I enjoy games like these. But other than that It was a really fun game! I really loved it!
I got TO level 12, but choked at the last second. This game is REALLY fun! I think the concept is really cool, taking away some control from the player by making them always jump is really cool, and the drill mechanic is really fun as well. The art and the audio is also super well polished. Short games like these re always great because they feel like a full, polished game. Nothing feels unfinished, it's just overall great. Good job you both. 5 Stars across the board
Thank you so much!!! :)
This game is super cool :D. Tried my best to reach the infamous.... LEVEL 12. But I... kinda suck ;-;
Highscore: Level 8 :P
Very fun to play and a nice fit to the theme
So fun! I see the potential in this game to reach top rankings in enjoyment category!
I'm glad you, liked it :) We worked very hard to get the movement just right :D
This is really on theme and SUPER fun I really liked it amazing job :D
Really fun, would have loved to have a static rotation of levels with a clear end goal to reach. Always had the feeling I didn't get to see all levels.
Good idea on mirroring the levels for more variation though!
The game looks and feels great to play. The pseudo-random generation of levels was also well done, it kept things fresh and didn’t feel too repetitive on retries. The link to the theme was a bit uninspired (effectively a speed run counter) but that’s okay. I enjoyed playing, so great job!
Love the art style & color palettes for this game!! Also really interesting take on platformer mechanics!
Really well put together, great style. Changing the level on loss is a great call to see more game, and avoid it feeling grindy.
If you're making post jam changes, some sort of shadow to indicate where the character is going to land would help a lot with precision.
REALLY fun game loop! I had a great time :3
Wonderful mechanics. I really like the little hop that is automatic, really changes up platforming vs a normal runny jummpy dashy celesty feel.
Well done! Especially for a first jam!
Noice, very entertaining game!
Though its music game XD
