Honestly, I feel like the game is missing a lot of polish to be truly enjoyable (nicer graphics, ability to skip/close dialog, ability to influence your luck by actually playing minigames)...

...But the idea is one of the best I've seen in this jam, and the story "justification" of it and the humour are great, congratulations :)

I think I used up all my bad luck getting hit by lightning... This is a super funny and charming game. The idea is super creative, the narrative is amazing, and *lightning sound* single-handedly gives this a 5 for audio. Great work with this game!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad someone realized that being unlucky is why you get struck by lightning! I wanted to make it more obvious or put that in the dialogue somehow but ran out of time. That idea was what made us fall in love with the concept. Thanks for playing!!

The start and find how to decreased luck is really funny ! The homeless center had me, haha !

Lightning sound !

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play! Making the story was my favorite part. I made the lightning sound at 8am the morning of the jam as I was finishing up the final cutscene, half for convenience, half cause I found it hilarious XD

Okay start sequence is the most hilarious thing I saw in years

Developer

Thanks!! We were brainstorming and landed on the idea of a gambling game where you try to lose all your money but we couldn’t think of a reason why you would need to until we thought of that and we were laughing our heads off about it. Thanks for taking the time to play!

Very charming game, It's reminding me of the humor from old Sierra games

Developer

thank you!! I’ve never played them but I’ll take your word for it haha

I really like the pacing and music — the atmosphere is great. And the whole idea of trying to lose money is hilarious haha.

Developer

Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time out to play! We had a great time making it.

Amazing game, amazing music, amazing everything.

Developer

Thank you!!! Malibu really cooked with the music. I appreciate you taking the time to play!

This game is incredibly funny

Developer

I'm so glad you liked it! By the end we realized that we had made more cutscene than gameplay so I'm glad that part hit the mark for you!

PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad you liked it! I designed the story and dialogue and I had a ton of fun. Especially with the whistle and thump sound effect that I made at 4am the morning of the jam lol.

The story was really funny and it's a fun twist to make winning bad. The story was my favorite part and I was jamming to that bass the whole time I was playing.

Developer

When playtesting I kept winning at the minimum luck and yelled "WHY DO I KEEP WINNING?!" and thats when I realized we hit the mark with that concept XD

Submitted(+1)

exactly. When I realized I was at minimum luck, I lost every time thinking that it wouldn't let me win at all. Then I won twice in a row and got pissed. LIGHTNING SOUND

I like the idea of reducing your luck before betting on the different casino-stations!

The cutscenes, albeit a tad slow, did get me interested in the game for sure and I did finish the game just so I could se how it would end :)

I would have loved to have some kind of mini/micro games for each gambling station to get a bit more things to do in the game.

Great premise, but would love to have more "active gameplay".

Good job nonetheless, the ending was great :)

Thank you!!! We fell in love with the idea of doing unlucky things to make you lose your money and ran with it. We had big dreams of making each game different with minigames and choosing bet sizes and such but unfortunately Goose (the main programmer and only one with a CS degree) has a full time job and couldn't put in as much time as we hoped.  I'm so glad you liked it! I had a ton of fun making it.

I really enjoy the narrative and art of the player character/NPCs. I think the dialogue box hung around a little long. An option to skip would be nice.

Developer

Thank you so much! This was our first game jam and it was a ton of fun. I wrote the cutscenes and my brother Malibu made the character sprites. I also wanted text boxes to change with player input but we were scrambling to fix the major issues and unfortunately that got swept under the rug. I'm glad you liked the narrative! That was my favorite part to make.

Love the concept, but I wish the dialog box got out of the way quicker (I want to gamble faster)

Developer

Yeah we wanted it to be faster too. Unfortunately we used the same dialogue script for both the casino game dialogue and the cutscenes so making it faster would mess up the cutscenes. With less than an hour left in the jam when we figured it out we decided there were more important things to fix lol.
