I love the creativity in this game! It's definitely one of my favorites! 💗💖💕

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the kind words!

So great! The perfect length to communicate the concept properly, and the dialog is super charming. Well done guys!

Developer

Thank you!! I had the most fun writing the wizard dialogue. I think a small amount of sleep dep makes for funnier writing ,':^)

Submitted

you had me at "Time Lich" but I'm glad I played the entire game to make sure it was as cool as it sounded! I did encounter a bug where, after completing the Holy Sword puzzle, using the well again warps you into a chamber you can't escape from, so I had to restart the loop and repeat it, but other than that this game was a blast, loads of fun to play and learn. Congrats to the whole team :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah it's funny how the most noticeable bug that slipped out only appeared at the end, which was the only thing not covered by our playtests. The lesson is playtest everything I guess lol! Thank you for playing all the way through and experiencing what we made!

Wow....... This game was amazing.  My favorite yet.  So cool. I love how in theory you have access to victory right from the start, but you just have to learn how.

So, so fun.  Amazing polish.  Great game.

Developer

So glad that you liked it so much!! I like that mechanic a lot too. Thank you for playing :)

Submitted

Wow! What a great use of knowledge-gated progression! very much reminds me of a great game called Minit!

Developer

We really have to play Minit now :P thank you for playing!!

Knowledge lock is the coolest game mechanic. Hats off to you guys for pulling it off!

The gameplay is super engaging and the text in this game is really funny. Kind of wish that the lich king puts up more of a fight though, that would be perfect.

Developer

Thank you for playing! We're also huge fans of that mechanic. And agree that a boss fight would have been cool. I liked another reviewer's suggestion too that if the boss fight leveraged all your learned skills, it would be a neat test of the player's knowledge up till that point.

I'm happy to see this idea made this well in this jam! It was on of my first idea but decided to go for something else instead.

Developer

It's a good idea! Ty for letting us have it :'). And thanks for playing!

Submitted

love it :D Each new ability was so exciting to uncover! gj Warren :D

Developer

Hello 👀 and tysm!! That was the goal :D

This is just amazing. I don't know if I was supposed to get a hint at it but somehow I managed to get to the holy sword by just jumping into a well hahaha. Also I got stuck there after already obtaining the sword the first time I played. But this is just so well done. Thanks for the cool experience!

Developer(+1)

You're such a god gamer you didn't NEED the hint (but yes most players will encounter the hint instructing them how to warp to the holy sword :P). I'm glad you had fun though!

Submitted

Wow!! Really cool game. It really gives excitement and an amazing feeling when it gives you new knowledge, especially with the new actions.

I also got stuck jumping back in the well after collecting the holy sword like someone else mentioned haha :D And on subsequent runs when I tried to get to the holy sword instantly I just got ported between the wizard and the start from the wells.

But really amazing quality and polish for both the presentation, the game mechanics and the overall feeling of the game. I really enjoyed it! This should have way more votes! Awesome job!

Developer

Yeah we didn't realize the holy sword -> fountain path got people stuck until now :P. Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed!

This was a very fun little game! I love the concept of everything being knowledge-gated, so you just have to use that knowledge in future loops. The little squash & stretch effect on everything is fun.

Teleporting into the holy sword garden is a glitch but like... frankly our hero should have seen that coming lmao, time stopped after the holy timestamp after all.

One thing I wish was that there was some reason to use all your abilities again, like maybe the lich king runs away when you have the holy sword and you have to dash across lava & break stones to catch him in the end.

Developer(+1)

Yes!! Squash and stretch looks good on everything (one weird trick game devs HATE)

A proper boss fight would definitely have been cool if we had more time. Thank you for the feedback!

I think this is the 20th game i played since voting started, and for now this game is the best one. Extremely complete at all categories. Amazing job!

I like that you took the concept of MINIT and tweaked it. It was very nice, although I must admit it was pretty challenging in my end. Some things I might recommend are just how you added a feedback of "You need a key." You can also add a E button to interact on top of interactables and perhaps also use sound effects to let me know I interacted. I admit it would've been way cooler if you could destroy barrels and crates then using E. However, I absolutely love the difference in level design, and I love the way you made it so easy to learn from previous mistakes and beat the game. Music was calming, I loved the narrative! Great work!

Developer

Yeah, definitely agreed on the SFX on interact. SFX were a super last minute addition tbh and I wish we had time to add more. It's a weirdly delicate balance for puzzle games though; if you play a sound cue every time a player does a thing, they might be encouraged to attempt it again even when they don't need to. So what we should probably add is a Zelda-style "woah you found a hidden secret" audio cue for for successful discoveries; that way players don't try interacting with every barrel/bookshelf. Breaking them would be fun though, thanks for the feedback :)

I'm so glad that you were able to win despite the initial challenge!

And yes as Nick wrote in another comment, none of us had even heard of MINIT before making this game LOL. We definitely need to check it out. What a funny parallel evolution that is... almost like time is looping back...

Submitted

This was great! The artwork is immaculate and the main mechanic is very well thought out, I loved the level design. Only real bummer is the fact that I may have found a bug where if you teleport after grabbing the holy sword you get stuck in the holy sword little courtyard and have to reset. Not a real deal breaker since the whole game can be finished in so little time but yeah.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!! Kenney's (and a few additional) tilesets are really carrying the art here haha. Though I personally did spend a lot of time with set dressing to try and bring the maps to life! On the teleport after grabbing the holy sword bug, unfortunately we only caught this after the submission deadline!! Though yeah, the reset isn't too bad!

Submitted

Reminds me Minit game almost the same idea but different execution. I like it a lot, fun to play and i love games that depend on player knowledge for progression. Great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Funny enough we were all aware of Minit but none of us have actually played lol. Another inspiration was Outer Wilds. But thank you and glad you had fun! :)

Submitted(+1)

This is a very interesting game and concept, I loved the "roguelike" aspect of going back with more knowledge to do things faster. Really well planned, great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! And glad you enjoyed, entering each run with slightly more knowledge (and gaining a little more during it) was something we really tried to balance well!

Submitted(+1)

Completed this, couldn't stop it was really fun. Very reminiscent of a few fully released games with this mechanic, I think for a jam period you did an amazing job here well done!

I actually accidentally got to the end once lol figured out the holy timestamp by accident :D

Developer(+1)

lol we were debating how often people would accidentally teleport at 0:01 before they found out the right time, congrats on the speed run :p. But yeah glad you enjoyed!! We put in a lot of work to get this across the finish line for the jam lol

Submitted

A well thought out game which uses time to let players figure out how to speedrun faster and faster for each run. Simple yet fun to play!

Developer(+1)

Speedrun simulator 2026 😎 thank you for playing!

This is amazing, one of the only game that I completed until the end so far. It was very fun. I am taking notes for the next GMTK game jam. I thought got stuck at first, when I acidentally entered the well again after getting the sword, but then I figured out the restart button. Good game,  well done.

Developer(+1)

Ty for the high honor :) and great to hear you finished. Puzzle games like these are tricky to calibrate difficulty for -- our earlier versions before playtesting were definitely too hard and it took some friends' feedback to get it to the spot it's in now. Glad you enjoyed!

Submitted

Super fun, Great use of the theme and its a super fun and nice game good job

Developer

Thank you!!
