Needs more juice to be sure. It's a little dry at the moment.

good game!

Developer

Thanks!

superbly polished, and a really cool core concept. Loved planning every move 1+ rounds ahead, and the modifiers stack up really fast to help you keep pace with the scores. Not sure if it was a bug, but I burned out when there were still 21 turns remaining in one of the Boss rounds? Possibly I missed some mechanic, but I suppose it's fitting I lost to a countdown I didn't spot in this jam. Overall you should be super proud of what you managed to get done in 4 days, it's really amazing. Congratulations on your submission :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for testing it! I am going to check about the bug you said and I will try your game tomorrow!

Good luck bug squashing, and if you have time to check out our game we'd appreciate it. Thank you!

The core concept of combining the countdown theme with Poker is brilliant. As a fan of Balatro, I knew I was going to enjoy playing it.

You added an impressive amount of features and power ups in the short amount of time given to us. The only issue is that I think it might be too much for a game jam. I think the amount of content in the game and how the tutorial was done could potentially scare off a lot of players who might not be as familiar with the genre. A more streamlined version would have helped more people get into it as well as giving you more time to focus on the little details and balancing. It would also mean you get to showcase the best of everything, since players are more likely to encounter the best stuff if there is less.

I had a lot of fun playing it, and it got me thinking about how I would have implemented the countdown theme with Balatro.

You did a great job, well done!

Developer

Thanks for trying it and I agree with you. I could have done better if I had focused more on the first steps, the tutorial could for sure been better. I'll check your game tomorrow!

This is a really great concept! And with a really large scope, i’m amazed how much different perks and variations the game offer. With a very clean look and UX on top of that (even though the tutorial is a bit confusing). I’m pretty bad at poker though, so I did very poorly on the first boss. I’m a bit confused on what strategy I could have use against it, since it prevented to protect card. But protecting card was the only way I had to use ashes (I don’t know if there comes other powers to the game), so I’m not sure what I could have done besides drafting cards until I randomly stumble upon an interesting hand? But again, I’m terrible at poker. :p It’s still an impressive entry, and a very solid game!

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment! I will for sure work on the tutorial after the jam, I could have done it so much better! I will try your game tomorrow!

You made this alone in a week?! Seriously impressive. The cards in your hand counting down is a fun take on the theme and twist on the Balatro-like genre. Took a little while to get the hang of, but it made for some fun strategies.

My only complaint is that the UI doesn't fit the cool style of the cards. Overall a cool and complex jam entry, nice work!

Developer

I agree with you! I wanted to work more on the art, but I ran out of time, it was totally my fault! Thanks for testing it and I'm glad you had fun! I am going to test yours tomorrow!

Wow, there's a lot going on here and the strategies were starting to come together. Matches the theme well. The music was good but got repetitive. Looks really good. You should continue with this game

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I got the music from a website and they only offered 30s songs :( But It is something I can make better for sure, thanks for the feedback! I am going to test your tomorrow!

With the jam having 10k games it's funny how with every search I can find something relevant. I searched poker and this looked nice and that it surely was!  The tutorials and the polish in general with the game is crazy. I wasn't hooked enough to play for 30 levels, but the game was cool.

Developer

I am so glad you liked it! Yeah, I think it need a lot more polish to be able to hook up the players, but Thanks for testing it a little regardless! I am going to check yours tomorrow!

Great game!!! The burning mechanic makes the gameplay really interesting and I'm impressedof how pulished it is for being made in such a short time. I enjoyed it so much

Developer

That's such a sweet comment, thank you! I am glad you liked it, I will make sure to test your tomorrow too!

A very enjoyable game. I give it a high rating.

I love card roguelikes, and this game reminded me of Balatro.

The graphics, interface, and sounds are also quite good.

Everything is in its place.

Developer

Thank you so much, it means a lot! I am going to try your game too later! :D

fits the theme well, and really good graphic

Developer

Thank you so much! I took too much time doing the cover art, didn't have enough time to make the heaters. I appreciate you <3

I’ve always liked poker, even though I’m not a particularly experienced player. I know most of the basic rules and combinations, so the concept immediately interested me.

I really liked the jam mechanic where the value of cards gradually decreases over time. The game also has some clear Balatro influences, but that is not a bad thing—the project still has its own identity and plenty of original ideas.

Unfortunately, since English is not my native language, it was difficult for me to fully understand all the cards, abilities, and their interactions. I enjoyed building poker combinations and scoring points, but following the long-term strategy became quite tiring because of the amount of text and mechanics I had to process.

Still, the visuals are appealing, there is a lot of content, and the game clearly has a great deal of depth. I lost at a boss and wasn’t able to continue, but I can see a lot of potential here. My personal experience was limited by the language barrier, but the game itself feels polished, ambitious, and well made.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for testing the game! If I keep working on it, I'll remember your comment and try to make it in different lenguages or simplify the text! I'll try your game later too!

A very interesting new take on a classic game! This definitely deserves more attention. How many floors are there in the game?

Developer(+1)

To finish the run, 30 floors. But they are procedural, so there is an endless mode (but the game needs more balancing, I never got to the end of it lol). Thanks for testing!

Submitted(+1)

I like the graphics in this one cause it fits the theme of the game very well , the gameplay idea is solid , Great Job

Developer

Thank you so much! I am going to try your game later too!

I don't think I do find a clear strategy until the third boss, but it is fun. I think the main reason is because I didn't understand when will the burning cards give me extra x on mults.

It's like a burning Balatro, where every heart and card is a popcorn (but the effects doesn't change.). I found that playing flush is easier, because I don't have to consider about the numbers. Meanwhile, playing straights and full houses can be tricky, and more often need protections on cards or time to think, which is kinda cool.

Nice game!

Btw, the boss fight song is a banger, like it.

Developer(+1)

Oh! Thanks for stopping by, I was going to say "I'll try your game later", but I already did, it was awesome! Yeah, it needs balancing for sure. My game gives less points than balatro proportionally for flushes, for exactly the same reason you said! You are very observative! Thanks for stopping by <3

Submitted(+1)

The tutorial was a little confusing(Im just dumb), but the more I played the easier I was able to catch on great game and a little addicting

Developer

You are not dumb at all! I hat to throw a text tutorial last second and I could for sure done a better job in explaining the game! Thank you for testing it <# I am going to try yours later!

Submitted(+1)

If my cards spontaneously combusted while playing actual poker I would probably be a much richer man. Nice work here though! Enjoyed the game.

Developer

lol We would be all magicians! Thanks for testing, I'll test yours later!

Very cool game with a kinda insane amount of content for something made in so little time! My only constructive criticism is that it's a bit hard to remember all of the rules, so having a guidebook to reference while playing might have been helpful. But it's hard to ask you to add more when there's already so much here lol. Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! There is a Faq button, but I guess I could have added something easier for the players to access... I'm glad you like it! <3

We independently invented the same card game in 96 hours hahahaha

Have fun in the jam!

Developer(+1)

lol Let me guess, balatro fan? Well, I will check yours later, but it is probaly better than mine :D Congratz to us to having a good idea and finishing the playable version!
