A GAME WITH AN INTRO VIDEO?!? HELL YEAH - the polish is the thing that makes a dev stand out. Smooth transitions, camera zoom, punchY sfx. Hell yeah. This is what game composition is all about dude

(+1)

Appreciate the complements! We GRINDED over getting the game as polished as possible. Major kudos to some of the other devs for their polish experience.

(+1)

THANKS DUDE!!! The team worked really hard to make it cohesive so we're very glad that it got across to the players :]]

Very good game, everything feels very complete.

The game gives off a kind of "quality" vibe. The mechanics are fantastic, and I'm having fun by just moving the character. It's also well polished. The theme has been adapted beautifully into a platformer game. Had a lot of fun playing, cool game.

(+1)

This makes me really happy! I spent a good while perfecting the player's controls and effects, so I'm super glad that you liked it.

This is a very good game, it feels professionally developed, the jumping feels good and the mechanic creates a very unique and interesting challenge

Submitted(+6)

I love the music and the looks, very polished! Ik im repeating what you already heard, but amazing job guys, nice idea and realisation!

(+1)

Thank you so much! I actually ended up recommending your game to some other people, and its now in my favorites collection!

Submitted(+1)

Woah that's crazy, thank you so much <3 :D

Such a good take on the theme leading to a really unique platformer. It was really cool juggling jumping with it also being a timer. Loved the art a music, the whole game felt very polished and there was a solid amount of content. Also, outside of the game, but great job with the game's webpage, it was really cute and well done. Great submission!

Thank you so much for the nice words! I'm glad you liked the animations on the itch page. Your game was also lovely and extremely pretty.

Very clever use of the theme!!

Amazing how polished this is, I'm honestly at a loss of words! Great job YGDA 🫡

(+1)

Thank you so much! We spent a lot of time polishing the game and are really glad that came across!

Submitted(+5)

Such a good use of the theme! The artwork and music are incredible and the gameplay is so fun too, I think that sometimes it's a bit difficult to see how much sand is left in each side but that's only a little nitpick, besides that it's amazing.

What an amazing game! The main mechanic is brilliant, and it opens up a lot of possibilities to play around with and add more mechanics. Every aspect of the game is so polished, the sound, the artwork, even the narrative. The aesthetic alone tells you exactly where you are. Congrats! You have a really solid game!

Submitted(+5)

Did I just play a whole game? Amazing platformer concept, the physic is so cool ! Very rich level design and such a fun and original use of the theme. It was a very cool experience, art is beautiful, music too. What a great work, congrats! (As a feedback, I think "spikes" in level 9 should not have been black, and rats are sometimes bugged,)

(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. We were working on fixing the rats, and ran out of time, as always happens in a jam. Once again, thank you for your support and were glad you liked playing the game!

THE perfect game wow, that's a crazy number of people to work together on one game in such a small amount of time, yall submitted a day early too that's crazy, huge kudos!!!

Submitted(+3)

the movement feels incredibly smooth and satisfying, great job! The game overall is really polished especially the art, fantastic work everyone!

(+1)

Thank you! We spent a lot of time on polish!

COOLESST GAME

Opening cutscene is cinema. I think you nailed the feel of the jump, it's very satisfying. I think the amount of time left in to live could've been telegraphed a bit better though, since the character is so small. Maybe a UI element where you can see the grains flip and drain?

Thank you for playing our game! We were considering adding in a UI element to show the amount of time left, but we ended up not adding it to keep the minimal UI look. Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah, as others have said, great idea. So many people in this jam just slapped a timer on an extremely generic game and called it a day, but this is clearly something you cooked after actually thoughtfully considering the prompt. Great job on a super fun platformer.

Awesome game, very creative. As elric mentioned, awesome art, really creative, perfect use of the game jam theme, and fun to boot. I liked most of the level design a lot, great pacing and difficulty progression, with the possible exception of the 2nd half of level 3, the low jump sequence was honestly a bit too much on the frame perfect input so I had to smash the spacebar with my thumb as fast as possible, which was just unfun.

As two of my teammates have said, one of the best games in the event, and my personal favorite of the 30 or so I've tried so far.

The only mechanical critique I can really levy is that respawn timer feels too long. Maybe someone on the team got a bit too fancy with the artistic expression there, and it breaks the flow up a little.

Many thanks you to and your team for taking the time to play our game and leave reviews! The team agrees that the difficulty ramp on some of the levels made it a little too precise at times, so we do understand what you mean. But we're all very pleased to see you guys hold our game in such high regard :]]

Submitted(+3)

Wasn't actually the overall difficulty of it per se, more of a type of difficulty of the one specific section of 4 back to back 1-2 frame low jumps in L3. I actually enjoyed level 4 a ton, and it was harder for sure.

Oops, yeah I know which section you're talking about. I believe the intended method for that section is to time all of your sand to one side before entering and just ride on through without jumping, but judging from this issue being brought up in multiple comments, we definitely should have communicated it better. Thank you so much for your feedback and thanks for playing our game!

The main mechanic is wildly clever--excellent use of the theme (not to mention it looks and sounds great). The movement being timed to the countdown aspect in this completely organic, intuitive way is such elegant game design. Easily one of the best games in the event!

(+4)

wow really well done!

Submitted(+4)

Top tier game, well done! The level design is great, especially from lvl 4 onwards, and you do a good job of introducing mechanics step by step. Really cool take on the theme, and well polished in every aspect. Probably the best game I've come across in the jam yet!

Feel free to give our game a rate too if you get the chance, it's also very polished :)

Thank you so much! We tried our best in our level design to introduce mechanics before challenging the player with them. We as a team feel that some mechanics in our game are still unfair and buggy, but it warms our hearts to know that our purposeful level design has been seen! I'm part of the programming team, but I'm sure that our art department is also very grateful for the praise on the polish. We, as a studio, took a lot of time in trying to make the little details and polish matter.

(I went to go rate your game and left a comment. It was such a beautiful game!)
