Truly amazing. I never saw a game quite with that kind of mechanics. The puzzles get progressively more challenging, and the final one was a good final puzzle. The ticking sound when it rewinds does get a bit annoying after a while, and rewinding can take quite a while for longer lasting flames. So it would have been nice if rewinding either sped up with time, or pressing R a second time made it rewind faster.
It was a lot of fun.
I really like the game; it is cool, and it feels like the level design is a tool to teach the player how the game works, something that is always appreciated.
Would like to play a more polished version of this if you ever continue development!
Dang, creative idea. It took me awhile to figure out how the fires correlated to time (tbh, i'm still not sure I totally understand it), but I think you presented it well enough. I will say I struggled a bit trying to figure out where to go, and that coupled with the mystery of the mechanic itself made the first several minutes somewhat of a trial-and-error mess for me. I think if you included some subtle directional elements in the background or the foreground, it might help direct players and minimize that feeling of being lost (unless that's exactly the feeling ur intending, or maybe you did and Im just blind). I also don't know if the ambient cave noise is doing the game justice, and I might've been more properly engaged with a more suitable music track, but perhaps that's just artistic preference. Overall, this game reminds me of Kingdom Two Crowns in how the primary mechanics of the game are something that the player has to learn through observation, and that's a great thing.
Great gameplay
amazing game, like minute hero and animal well combined
This is so well done and a very innovative platformer. Great job!
Incredibly clever! Once I realized how the lamps were working, the depth of the game nearly made my jaw drop! I would love to make my way through the whole game, but I will say that there were a few quality of life changes that might make it a bit smoother to play.
For one, I could see that the light from the lamp indicates the radius at which you get connected to it, but because the light doesn't effect the background layer, it can sometimes be hard to tell where that hitbox ends. This is especially problematic for an area I found where you have to jump over lower numbered lamps in order to keep your high number.
I would also love to see some indicator of whether a lamp is currently at its max number. There was one spot where i couldn't see how to progress until i just messed around with different lamps that at first felt extraneous, because i didn't realize another one had a higher number i could rewind to. And that felt less like solving a puzzle than a cheat.
But overall, fantastic work! This is a really cool concept that I could see you expanding into a mind-bending puzzle game on the level of Ooo or Leap Year!
Great puzzles! I loved figuring out the path through, even if I didnt beat it lol
Love a metroidbrainia, and lots of clever little layers to discover about this one! Having different "creation times" for torches and being able to rewind to different points in time was a mind blowing discovery once I finally figured it out. Great entry!
This is a really creative idea for sure, it took me a while to understand the game mechanics. Good job!
Really clever timing mechanic!
Love the little blue guy, the mechanic in this game is really cool/thoughtful!
being able to reset the timers past the point they were when you initially got to them felt really clever! I think if there was a bit more polish to the platforming controller it'd really elevate the experience. really cool central mechanic though!
Super cool idea! I think you should try to develop this further after the event :D
The checkpoints were a very creative take on the theme. Haven't seen anything similar in the jam yet.
I also adore the pixel art and sound design. The "ticking" was especially effective without ever getting annoying. Great job!
Very innovative and unique game! I liked the torches acting like timer/checkpoint mechanic - it was a creative approach to the theme, and made you less likely to rage quit. The bgm choice was perfect to give that moody cave vibe. Great execution!
I have noooooo idea what I’m doing in this game.
Seems like I should charge my count down and get back to the pit with the key in it, take the key and leave?
But I never figured out the mechanism, and after stumbling through some rooms through trial-and-error, I find myself on the same place as I started.
I couldn’t finish the game, but this game surely is creative. Hats off to the dev for pulling off such an intricate map design in just 96 hours. Really impressive. Kinda wish it was easier to understand!
Very creative idea. I seem to stuck on the very first key. Either I'm not fast enough to get the key and make the next touch or I'm stupid and missing something. It's a very good design tho. If anyone could give me a little hint I would def want to try again.
Very creative interpertation of the theme! Unfortunatelly I'm too dumb to make too much progress
Very good atmosphere for such minimal graphics and sound!
The idea is really nice ! I just don't have the brain power to play it all the way throught but I love the concept
