😎 first try

this is definitely a tricky platformer!! i think that the controls could use a little extra polish, I kept getting stuck on the corners of platforms when I didn't want to. those last few levels were definitely difficult, and I don't mind a difficult platformer (I adore Celeste for a reason) but there were a few times that the spike wheels felt kind of unfair here. If y'all keep working on this, multiple control schemes like WASD & space support would also be great, since z and x took me a while to get used to. Regardless, I think this is a great start to a cool platformer! I liked how the little character was dithered when they ran out of their dash, it was pretty cool, and I thought the silly art style was rather charming.  Nice work :)

I actually really enjoyed climbing walls in this game, theres something satisfying about the way you slide down.  I agree with the other that the level design could use some work but I liked the mechanics themselves quite a bit.

I appreciate the more frenetic take while in a dream state, definitely stands out!

Good game, I enjoyed it and like what you went for.

the art is actually pretty charming, especially with the visual affect of zooming into that thang

the… jazz… playing in the background is actually pretty acceptable. it’s made to be ear jarring but it’s not random and unpleasant to hear.

the player controller is actually surprisingly good, the jumps feel great the movement is smooth, i think the wall jumping was a bad idea, slowing down at the walls is the bad kind of unpleasent.

the only feedback i’d give is better level design, it’s not really hard, and the section of dashing down against the rotating spikes is unfair and literally highlights the bad walljumping, but there were a couple of creative ideas and I liked the big balls coming from under.

enjoyable (:

NO WAY YOU ACTUALLY BEAT IT. Thanks for playing this far into the game. It's my first time doing wall-grabbing and wall-jumping mechanics so I made them pretty poorly and It's completely a mistake on my side. Huge thanks for the detailed comment!

You captured something unspeakable with this game — the seething dither of the background makes me physically nauseous, and the music instantly drives me mad. That experience was not pleasant at all, but extremely intense and inspirational. Thank you for that!

Developer(+1)

It's NOT that deep lol. Thanks for the comment.

I also struggled a bit with the controls, but once I figured it out more it was fun to play.

Is it just me or is this game a fever dream

Developer

As the developer. It definitely is a fever dream

cool game, needs blood haha, I didn't even know you could wall jump until I read the comments, before that rather than the hardest game in the jam as you put it , it was the most frustrating, but went at it again and got kinda hooked. Alot of fun. Didn't love the control scheme but used to it now :)  (Usually gamepad for me). The art was "ugly" but you made it appealing and cute anyway somehow. Neat trick :)  I  didn't beat it yet but worth playing some more. How many levels? maybe I can beat 162!

Developer(+1)

The art being “ugly,” or as our team preferred to call it, “goofy,” was exactly the goal. I didn’t mention the ability to wall jump in the description because I wanted players to discover it themselves in the third level. I understand the game can be frustrating, though I blame that more on my poor level design than on the mechanics. I have to admit, the controls were a huge mistake on my part. The game has exactly 12 levels, with the final three being the most challenging of all. Thanks for the comment and feedback :)

Damn that took me 162 tries but I enjoyed it.

Developer

162?? man it takes me 30 MAX, im grateful that you can actually played till you won though, thanks

Bobby thinks he's Madeline. The platformer movement was almost perfect, there were too much unwanted wall-grabbing, may be should have the wall detector activate only when the player moved left or right. And I'm fine with this input map, but I think it won't do such harm to add WASD for movement and Space or J for jumping, some players do prefer left stick/left hand movement.

Developer

I really wanted to fix the wall-grabbing issue, but I had to submit early for a couple of reasons. Huge thanks for your feedback on the controls, I will make sure to implement this in my future games. Thanks for the comment!

I really like how squishy the controls feel, the animations and art are also simple and cute!

Developer

Yeah, our team wasn’t very skilled at drawing or creating animations, we decided to use effects like making the player feel like a paper and adding stretching and squashing to make up for the lack of animations. Thanks for the comment.

absurdist platformer, I love it, but I could not understand how to get past the horizontal spikes

Developer

Thanks for being one of the first to play the game! For the horizontal spikes and most hazards, you can dash through them and survive since dashing makes you invincible. I meant to include this in the game description, but after a long night, I had to get some sleep. Sorry it wasn’t clear when you were playing, and thanks again.

It was hard to play with the z, x, and arrow key controls but it was a fun game!

Developer

Yeah, these controls can be a bit confusing if it's your first time using them, but they're common in many popular games like Cuphead and Celeste. Just place your right hand on the arrow keys and your left hand on the Z and X keys, with your middle finger on Z and your index finger on X.

interesting, surprised at that but makes sense then. My left hand had a hard time
