Love the character and background sprites, the nods to pizza tower are great too. Music is catchy, really enjoyed it. Also love the palette swaps

Thank you so much! :D

I'll skip the art praise since everyone's covered it (deservedly).

The thing I kept bumping into: I'm on a skateboard, but I control like a platformer. If you ever take this further: make tricks feed speed instead of score.

Also, second-ever Godot project is wild (read it in a comment). The polish level here is peak.

As I do see other people mentioning here: The art is killer, The gameplay not so much.

Let me just prefice by repeating myself and very much meaning it: THE ART IS KILLER.

But the gameplay... The gameplay mainly lacked engagement. I'm not gonna sit here and offer you the solution I think is right to that problem since I do not know what your vision is, and really the only way a game will feel like a complete and unique game is by following someones vision otherwise you could incorporate literaly all the suggestions in these comments and still come out the other side with a more engaging yet frankestein-like uninspired mess of a game.

generally my advice is search for engaging game loops, especialy dumb easy fun ones if you're more of a begginer like me, every game I've made that I saw clearly people enjoying had a clear dumb fun concept to play around with, such as "blow stuff up", "kill a buncha lil guys" and so on.

This game was rather ambitious in it's concepts: "Big map exploration", "Warioware/pizza time style get back to the start concept", etc'. But it seems you cooked so hard on the graphics side you simply neglected gameplay and theme along the way.

Would love to see more stuff from you, just stuff that'll keep me engaged for longer and that'll have more care put into the gameplay side of things

How did you manage to make those backgrounds in just 10 days? Congratulations, they look amazing—the art is fantastic. The game is really original and fun too (I never thought someone would make a skateboarding game with this theme, XD). What a style, Chonks!

This is a really fun game! I loved the twist on the first level (and the foreshadowing with the shortcut) - it's really creative :D

Really awesome game! Very fun and I liked the end part! The text was very fun and the art was great!

What an awesome game for such a shot period of time !
To begin with the bad, the first level literally hurt my eyes. I couldn't focus on learning because of the choice of colors... Also the gameplay seemed a little repetitive or not really innovative for me. I go a little frustrated with the placement of the little coins/cheeses and a bit confused as to what it did.

For what I liked though, the character designs were so cool ! I love the rat, his the poses and the backgrounds ! The text on screen was hilarious. The art is generally top notch. I also liked the music and the sfx. I was honestly impressed at the level of polish y'all delivered. I wonder what you could do with more time !

Props on you guys !

Awesome work! The art is so so good but I do agree with the others that the color palette for the first level is quite hard on the eyes especially with the amount of detail the background had. I also felt that the gameplay wasn't that interesting but I did like that both levels were big and that there were different ways to explore in the levels. Despite that, this game is very polished and well made. You guys did an amazing job, especially with the time frame we had so kudos.

Like others have mentioned, the art is stellar; lots of style and visual flair!  I liked the different color palettes, too (the pink-on-black especially was gorgeous and fit the city theme well).  Also the big head in the runback sequence caught me a little off-guard even though you warned me :)

There's also something very dark about the big head's voice lines when you realize that the protagonist isn't actually a rat but the sleeping character from the title screen.  Made me uncomfortable, but in a good way; it's nice that there was some thought put into the broader story.

I liked that the levels were big and required some exploration; it also made me pay attention to the layout as I was working my way through because I knew that I was going to have to go back through eventually.  I enjoyed working my way through both levels.

The main thing I would have preferred is, given that I'm on a skateboard, I really wanted a sense of momentum to the movement; this is one of the rare cases where I actually wanted less control over the movement, mostly to make it match with being on a skateboard (which wouldn't be able to stop/turn on a dime like this).

All-in-all, this was a really solid jam entry, and I had fun with it.  Kudos to everyone involved :)

Pretty neat & fun game with playful and quite funny integrated tutorial. I think the movement is not just there yet and screen readability might benefit from being thought up again so it is less painful when you move around fast. I know it is a very hard balance to find but it would be very worth so the player feels more comfortable. GG on quality of general polish, art, and writing

What an incredibly stylish game. You did so much with the visuals. I agree that the first stage was a little busy, I kinda found myself losing track of where I was, but everything else is... ratical. This is the big cheese.

also hitoshi-senpai sounds like flowery deltarune i don't make the rules

You had me at rats and skateboarding! My only real feedback is similar to most of the others, the first level background was hard on the eyes and the sleep theme gets lost, but in general this game is just really fun!

I am lost for words ๐Ÿ˜ญ THIS is what I am competing with????! Yeah I am done for ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™ Amazing game man

Really cool game! The background being a petstore was so cool and the kid staring at you was terefying! I wish it played more on the theme "Sleep" as it wasnt super obvious that you were dreaming, but either way it was great gameplay and audio!! Well done!

This is a great experience given the time frame to make it. It definitely gave off the surreal vibe you were going for. The level design felt pretty good, only small complaint is that it took a bit for me to figure out where to go in level one, but that might've just been me being lost lol. Tricking, though it didn't do a ton, still managed to make me feel like a cool rat on a skateboard. Overall a fun experience, nice work :)

Loved the art and styalization , game has a lot of charm, not sure about how it connected to the theme as much but i really liked the entire experience and had fun running around

I liked the variety of colors on the art. The combinations were amazing. The sound is decent but can be improved, something more like punk related to skating. The game gameplay is simple and well implemented. Good job here.
