I love how you took the term "falling asleep" literally, so clever, and the song is a banger, great job. <3

Developer

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words! :)

Yeah, while brainstorming ideas I got stuck on the wordplay of "falling asleep" and just had to build a game around it :D

I'm really glad you liked the concept and that you enjoyed the soundtrack so much!

Thanks again for playing and leaving a comment!

Not an easy game but super fun once you get the hang of it. Amazing pixel art as well!

Developer

Hi!

Thank you so much for playing and the kind words! :)

It definitely takes a bit to get the hang of it, so I'm really glad it was fun once it clicked for you.

Really appreciate that you liked the pixel art as well! :D

Thanks again!

Imagine counting sheep but the sheep suddenly shoot you :O

Developer(+1)

Hi!

Haha, yeah, counting sheep is usually a bit more peaceful! :D

I definitely made them way too aggressive for this one. Next time I'll make sure they behave a bit better! ;)

Thanks for playing and taking the time to leave a comment! :)

Wish you all the best!

"Oh look a cute game about counting sheep!" I said...but this ended up being probably the most difficult game I've played so far this jam :P

You have to be so precise, and you have to count so many of the sheep!  I appreciate a good challenge, but I probably would recommend turning the difficulty down just a bit, either by making the hitboxes more forgiving, or having fewer of the sheeps that actively swerve away from you, or giving a little warning when the shooting sheep are about to fire.  That said, it's definitely doable if you learn the patterns and pick your sheep carefully.

While I might have turned the difficulty down just a touch, to be honest, it was the difficulty that kept me coming back.  I'm glad I stopped keeping track of my number of attempts, but it was a lot.  That said, the difficulty made it all the more satisfying when I finally saw this:

Art and music are both stellar.  The music sets the vibe perfectly, and the art, while simple and minimalistic, is some nice spritework.  The color palette was a really nice choice, too.  Everything feels really cohesive and intentional, and it all fits.

This was a great game; in the end, I had a blast with it despite yelling at my screen a little bit :P  Super addictive; I just had to keep coming back until I beat it!

If you hadn't said so on your itch.io page, I would NEVER have guessed that this was your first game.  Amazing job; you should be really proud of this!

Hi!

Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words - really! :)

I totally agree, the difficulty was pretty harsh. I'm so glad the loop kept you coming back and that you finally beat it though! :D

It means a lot that you liked the art and music, and hearing that you wouldn't have guessed it's my first game is a huge compliment.

I definitely learned a mountain about balancing for the next time! Thanks again for playing and taking the time to leave this amazing feedback! :)

Wish you all the best and good luck!

pretty good retro game with a cool addictive loop. Probably the most aggro sheeps you'll ever count

Developer(+1)

Agreed, they are pretty harsh. maybe too harsh :D

Appreciate you playing and enjoying the game a bit :)

Wish you luck and have a great weekend :)

Pretty good, the music is great (though it stops after a while if you stale at the walls for too long) the art is cute and cool and I like the colors. I enjoyed this and ABSOLUTELY love the idea it’s a great idea w pun. I actively dislike the sheep shooting, if they didnt the game still wouldnt have been too easy but it would have been much more fair and much more enjoyable. the sheep shoot randomly with no indicators so it’s very common to just fall on a sheep just to be 2 pixels too late and have them shoot you while you are literally touching you. great entry and goodjob you should be proud!

Developer

Hi!

Appreciate that you like the soundtrack. I swear I made a loop, I have no clue why there is a pause :D

Unerstood, I had no time fixing the sheep and in the end it was the decision to keep them in for difficulty or leave them out and make it too easy. I think I made the wrong decision, would choose otherwise next time :D

Thanks again for playing and enjoying the short little game :)

Wish you all the best!

Really slick!

Took me a little to work out how to actually land on the sheep, but once I did I had to keep playing until I fell asleep. Gameplay really reminds me of one of my favourite games, downwell which is a huge plus. The art was nice and clean and everything flowed well!

The only major change I'd ask for in this version is more of an indicator or warning of when a sheep is about to shoot. (haha what a sentence) Nothing too big as the game feels like it's going for challenge, but being shot just as you are coming in to land on a sheep was always a "shake fist moment"

Overall loved it - great work!

Hi!

Thank you for the very kind words - really! :)

Im so glad you liked it and had your fun with it! :)

Yeah, while brainstorming ideas I got stuck on the wordplay of fallign asleep. So I had this idea of a falling game. While researching I also came across Downwell and took some inspiration of it. Never played it though, I think now might be a good time :)

Yeah the sheep was frustrating - but I realised it soo late to fix it. Will keep this balancing step in midn for future games. I had not planned for that at all :D

Thanks again for playing and honest feedback! :)

Wish you all the best and good luck!

Nice little game!

The controls were a bit confusing at first, but I got the hang of them pretty quickly. I also think the regular and shooting sheep could be more distinct, since I kept confusing them sometimes.

It was fun to play anyways!

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks!

Yeah a tutorial would have been helpful :D

The different sheep were to make more intereseting, but time ran out before i could really make them work good in terms of balancing and visuals. I will keep this in mind for the future!

Glad you had a bit of fun!

Thanks for playing and the feedback! :)

Good luck and have fun! :)

I liked the concept but I don't think the diving was necessary. I definitely needed to try a few times before I got the hang of things. I feel like the game could use a gentle tutorial at first, then throw the player to the sheep. Overall, though, good work! The game definitely fit the theme and was fun after a bit.

Developer

Hi, thanks for playing and the feedback!

Honestly, tutorial would have been the best solution. The first idea was also level based, but time ran out.

Glad you had a bit of fun after a while. I hopfe my next games will improve a bit. Will keep your ideas in mind :)

All the best!

Love the concept! I found collecting sheep a bit difficult but the gameplay was very fun.

Developer

Hi, thank you for playing the game!

Yeah agreed. balancing wise there is a mountain of improvements that should have been made. I will do so in the next jam.

Again, thanks for playing and leaving your feedback. :)

Good luck!

This game is fun. I don’t think you needed the diving. It would have been fine without it. Fun game anyway. I like the music and sound effects. Really good game.

Developer

Understood. I really liked the diving in Shovel Knight a few years ago, so I thought that would bring in more variaty than just falling. But noted!

Thanks for playing and the feedback! :)

All the best!

The pace of the game was faster than I expected; it was a bit confusing at first, but I found it quite engaging later on. I like the game's colors. Anyway, good job :)))

Developer

Thank you very much. You are right I think, it may have needed a bit more tweaks to the overall speed of the game :)

Best of luck and all the best! :)

Submitted(+1)

Really fast paced and fun! I did feel like the sheep's hitbox was too small, though. Often, diving on top of them from slightly the wrong angle didn't give me any points.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for really playing and giving feedback on it!

Valid point, I think I got too used to it during the little play testing I had, that I didn`t mind it anymore.

Noted!

Thanks again and good luck! :)

I loved it, especially the idea of counting sheep. The sound effect and hitting the sheep was also very satisfying, and it had nice music! Great work

Developer

Appreciate you playing it, thank you for the kind words! :)

Wish you all the best!

This was really fun! I loved the gameplay especially, it was great getting to use the dash to avoid obstacles. I had a little trouble keeping track of the sheep projectiles but it wasn't much of an issue overall - really nice work :)

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it a bit.

Yeah I had no external play testers. I felt they were a bit hard but I played it so much I though: Naah cant be that bad :D

Wish you all the best! :)

Submitted(+1)

I loved the music and the concept of this game!

However, I think it would have been better if the sheep hadn't shot at all, or at least had shown signs of doing so. Anyway, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing!

I also felt like it was a bit unfair, but I forgot to fix it.

Thank you for the feedback! :)

Our first game ever made. Had a lot of fun and struggles along the way. Won`t win any awards but we will be grateful for any feedback. Still hope you have a bit of fun :)
