Did your team create most/all of the graphics yourselves?
Yes. I created all of the graphics myself, including the character, environments, platforms, visual effects, UI, and other artwork used in the game.

Did your team create most of/all the audio yourselves?
There is currently no audio in the submitted version. I plan to add sound effects and music later using CC0-licensed audio assets.

How did you incorporate the theme "UNSTABLE"?
The game is built around the idea of instability. You play as a monk standing on an unstable sphere, trying to keep his balance while jumping across platforms and obstacles. The unstable movement turns every jump into a challenge.

Hey, just gave it a try before the jam ended, I think it was a solid entry! I didn't get to finish, but I liked the jumping mechanic and the premise was solid. I haven't seen it all so maybe I'm just suggesting things that are in the game, but I think it would be super fun to have obstacles that interact with your jumping somehow (like jump pads/springs) or maybe sections where you have to balance on platforms to make it even more unstable lol. But yeah, I think this was a solid platformer, the art was simple but good. Nice job!

Hey! I played through both levels, and I really liked them! I've never played a game with these mechanics before, so it took a while for me to understand the best angles and how long to hold to bounce. But once you understand the movement, it becomes really satisfying to pull off.

I think the one thing I kept thinking about that I wanted to see from this project was a visual indicator of how far you will jump. Perhaps the orb you sit on squashing down further and further? Or particles that shoot out of the orb?  Otherwise, I think the feedback was very nice. I like how the player character slightly lunges off of the ball when they bounce up. And the particle trail behind the orb gives the bounce physicality.

Adding audio to this project will help tie this experience together, so I'm glad you plan on doing so!

Overall a very fun entry. I could see this being part of some rage game; having the theme of mentally and physically stabilizing yourself with the potential to fall down gives me massive "Getting Over It" vibes. Great stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! I really like your ideas for showing the jump strength through the orb itself. I actually experimented with a trajectory preview at one point, but I ran into some issues and ended up leaving it out. The visual feedback is definitely something I’d like to improve in the future.

And yes, the game has audio now!  I find it funny that it reminded you of Getting Over It. The mechanics do have quite a lot of similarities. I’m also glad you enjoyed the movement once you got the hang of it. Thanks for playing both levels and for the kind words!

Fun gameplay mechanic and it's quite a good interpretation of the theme as well! I agree with one of the previous comments that a bar or visual representation for how much your jump is "charged" would be very helpful. Nice work and you did a great job with the graphics!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanic, the theme interpretation, and the visuals!  The jump charge indicator has definitely been one of the most common suggestions, so I'll keep it in mind if I continue working on the game. Thanks for playing and for the feedback! :D

The concept and gameplay is so nice, and it's very polished!

It's hard for me but I really enjoy it :D, Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if it was a bit difficult . I really appreciate you taking the time to play it and leave a comment. Thanks for the kind words! :D

Loved the idea, it's really original and it fits the theme perfectly! I also missed the bar showing me how charged my jump is. Other than that everything was great and I really had fun. Great job! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the idea and how it fits the theme. A few people have mentioned the jump charge bar, so that's definitely something I'll consider if I keep working on the game. Thanks for playing and for the kind words! :D

2 suggestions:  1) A bar to show how much you've charged your jump  2) Visible checkpoints

But overall it was fun and challenging.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the suggestions! I actually considered both of those features during development. A jump charge bar and visible checkpoints would definitely make the game more readable and less frustrating. I'm glad you still found it fun and challenging. Thanks for the feedback! :D

I finished the game it was very difficult, I finished all the 2 levels and I dont have any inner peace, instead I got angry lol. Beside that gameplay and sound was awsome, it's really a great game

Developer(+1)

Hahaha, I’m sorry I took away your inner peace instead of giving you some! haha I’m really glad you enjoyed the gameplay and sound despite the difficulty. Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words! :D

This is quite an original concept I think, well done! Nice atmosphere with your art and soundscape. The core mechanic feels fun and fits the jam theme very well. A small suggestion for a post-jam update, if you plan to work further on it, could be to add an indicator for the current jump strength / "charging amount".

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the concept, atmosphere, and the core mechanic! I actually tried adding a jump strength indicator, but I ran into some issues with it. I might give it another try in a future update. Thanks for the feedback and for playing! :D

Great polish! This is definitely one of the bests takes on the theme I've seen so far. The mechanic has lots of potential. Excellent submission!

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked the interpretation of the theme and the core mechanic. It was a lot of fun to make, and I’m happy to hear you think it has potential. Thanks for playing and for the kind words! :D

After an embarrassing long time I finally beat the tutorial XD I found the audio absolutely magical. It has such a great soundtrack starts calm and then suddenly the bass drops and i was like oh shit go go go (though i didn't have to). I loved that, the audio added to the instability and pushed the theme further that you have to remain calm. I don't have any feedback on design, I think this is a solid game that has great potential to be like QWOP or Getting Over It. Great job!

Developer

Hahaha, I’m glad you finally beat the tutorial XD! I’m really happy you enjoyed the soundtrack. I really wanted the music to reinforce the feeling of instability while keeping the player calm. Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words! :D
