How does the game fit the theme?
You and the CPU can bluff their way through moving any piece to anywhere on the board, you just need to make sure you don't get caught, and don't trust any of them

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Repeating Pattern Textures are From Kenney (https://kenney.nl/assets/pattern-pack)
Chess Icons are from RhosGFX (https://rhosgfx.itch.io/vector-chess-pieces)
The Hand art was made by me, but during a previous game jam

This was a really interesting concept to realize the twist of. I think it's definitely missing some polish (button feels like you have to wait a while longer than you should to press it, no sound effects, no piece counter etc etc) but I think it was pretty cute as an idea and visually is executed pretty well! Could use a little more fine tuning in when the computer does something stupid, because it was pretty easy to notice it just always does it, and that takes away from a good bit of nuance, but again this is a sick idea for a game overall and I still enjoyed my time!

Just a really cool idea for a game! U might wanna add sound effects and music (i didnt hear any). I think that an overview of the caught pieces would be helpful to catch the bot cheating. Also if possible u could make it multiplayer.

Otherwise its a really polished game i will come back to for sure!

No checkmate, you say? Very excellent execution of the theme - seems unique too, so great idea! Does the CPU follow any logic as to when to bluff vs not? It seems to detect obvious bluffs, but not sure if you made it omniscient?

I think everything was top notch! I didn't hear any sound fx or music, so unless that was just my browser, I think that would be the main feedback I have to make the pieces feel like they are making contact with the board, and the button to have a really loud noise.

I've added this one to my favs and will be playing again. Very fun "bluff chess" idea

Such an interesting concept to bluff your moves. I can see these playing with randoms online having a blast.

I'm a big chess fan so this was a very comfy experience to me. The visuals and polish is really great. Abit more polish and feedback would do great. Great job overall.

I personally would like to see this what this game would be like if you had to play for checkmate, I love chess though. You made a perfect experience for a GameJam. Good Job!!

Good fit for the theme. Very enjoyed while playing.

Really fun game, I wish their pieces were revealed to you after you correctly call them out and after the game

Developer

the pieces absolutely should be revealed to you when you call them a liar, does that not happen every time?

Revealing them all at the end of the game is such a good idea and so simple, can’t believe I didn’t think of that!

Submitted

Oh maybe they were, I was probably misremembering. Definitely there was a revealed pawn (which they later moved so I knew they were lying lol)

Developer

I can’t play to check but maybe it only reveals their piece if you are correct to call them a liar and not if you are wrong or something. My intention is for it to always be revealed right or wrong!
