How does the game fit the theme?
Trust No One, and the one you end up not trusting is yourself.
Dying is the core verb. Press F and you die on purpose; the run you just played comes back as a clone that repeats it exactly — a platform to stand on, a weight on a plate, a hand on a button. The first chapter teaches you to depend on it. You start planning around your own corpses.
Then the copies stop being faithful. There are different phases of clones that are gradually deviate. One replays late, one rushes ahead and presses too early, one retraces its steps and walks off the plate you needed, one is not solid at all, one reaches for a lever you never touched, and one of them kills you on contact.
Nothing else in the room ever lies to you. Only the version of you that came before.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Tileset, input prompt icons, and the Kenney Mini Square font from Kenney.nl
Sound effects — from the free Casual Game Sounds pack.
Everything else made by hand.
How many people worked on the game?1
Great platformer. The path-recording and clones are really well executed :D
Challenging but not too hard!
Thank you so much for giving 1 extra clones in some levels. This was an enjoyable experience figuring out how to clear all these level with messy clones from my own random movements.
The audio and visual fits together and yeah this is a solid game.
Noooo I got cloned :c
What a great entry! It's certainly very polished. It's quite impressive you managed to do all of this in just a week ^^
Great game. I think the mechanic of creating your own clone is something some games tackle, but you executed it really well. Both visually and in terms of how the limit on clones per level works.
Speaking of visuals, I found the game extremely polished, especially in the small details. Like the level restart feature, for instance. Great job, congratulations.
Amazing game, I really enjoyed the concept of having to work together with myself. I was really surprised how much I felt like I did have to trust myself, and sometimes I couldn't. I would have liked the character controller to feel a bit..snappier? but that didnt take away from my enjoyment at all. Amazing work
This game was really polished and nice to play. A very intersting take on the theme, I kept thinking that there was something wrong with the clones cuz they kept delaying their movements and I kept dying because of them. This game really has the potential to be big, the puzzles were fun to do and the art style was very cute and comfortable (which is why i didn't expect the clones betraying me TvT I forgot the theme while I was playing and got backstabbed)
the gameplay is pretty nicely polished!! one of the better puzzle games i played this jam!
whoa! I really loved the visuals, and the idea is clean too. The only thing that's missing is a clear interpretation of the theme.
Liked the game and the mechanics, it is great, this belongs to steam or just a good game to beat that deserves 2 dollars or smth like that (after some gameplay optimizations) but didn’t quite get the relationship of it with the trust no one theme
Thanks for comment!!
Game is about your clones doing the same thing with you to help you pass the levels. But after Chapter 1 (mind the color of clones and music beat change) clones won't be doing the exactly the same thing with you and sometimes try to kill you. So you shouldn't trust them, or yourself?
The mechanic is very creative and fun! The puzzles were engaging and I enjoyed working them out. This is a fun concept that I feel can be taken places if you want to continue developing it.
Really clever take on the theme! I loved how the clone mechanic starts off feeling reliable and then slowly turns against you—it makes the whole “Trust No One” idea work really well.
The game also feels surprisingly polished for a solo jam entry, and the art and music fit the concept nicely. Some of the later sections can get a little frustrating when a clone messes up your setup, but overall this is a really creative and well-made puzzle game. Great job!
This is a VERY well done take on the prompt with a ton of nice polish, and a boatload of content for just a week of one person, it's pretty hard to believe this is just a jam game! I'm really curious how you set up the way that they disobey you while still at the end of the day generally doing your actions, because on top of being cool for a narrative and cool for gameplay it just scores soooo many aura points oh my god. Visually this game is also nothing to scoff at, although maybe something in terms of an outline shader or something when you're near something that can be activated would've been nice rather than just color? At the end of the day though there's nothing but minor nitpicks I could really give this game, it's really really good, although a way to retry without resetting all the guys could've been nice since spikes aren't always readily available. WOW though, this was so peak
Wow, thanks for the comment! I spent most of my time on the mechanics, and since I rushed the map design a bit (and every other thing), I didn't even get to use all of them. Some of the "acts of disobedience" are scripts that detect your location and activate if the disobedience is allowed in position of the clone. For others, I fine-tuned their frames, inputs, and update orders to make the clones behave differently. This system allows me to create new levels featuring any kind of disobedience I want, using only the Unity Inspector.
I’ve also received a lot of feedback regarding the retry button affecting only the last clone; however, I likely intended for the game to be a bit more difficult and frustrating upon failure. Most players likely felt this as a result of the lack of game design.
Ooh interesting! I do think a way to retry with selectively removing clones would've definitely felt out of tone for the game, I personally more meant something along the lines of a simple retry that doesn't reset clones, in case you get stuck in a pit or something and are unable to hit spikes. Super sick that you were able to have level design be that quick, always a nice feeling when the time you put into structure pays off with really quick iteration like that
