I have mixed feelings on this one. I do like a challenging platformer and some rage-game elements, but I feel this became difficult for the wrong reasons. Im not sure if the checkpoint was meant to be fake, or just didnt work, but it is extremely disheartening to get very far up and then clip inside a moving block and have to press r, only to see it takes you all the way back to the start. I also felt like the character controls were extremely unpredictable. Sliding off corners of blocks, air and ground acceleration feeling very different, the low jump height, and fast gravity all lent to a feeling of struggling because my character was janky, not because I could not get the timing or sequence figured out.
That being said the animation and artwork was really great. And suddenly turning background blocks into real walkable surfaces was so unexpected and cool.

How does the game fit the theme?
You start the game without any instruction on how to play. During playthrough the player will encounter many (sometimes inconveniently) placed hints. However, all those hints straight up lie or mislead you. Some even wanna trick you into restarting the game on accident. Who can you trust, if not even the tutorial is trying to help you?
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Character controller was originally based on a free asset, but almost fully rewritten and expanded upon.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback.
Yes the checkpoints were fake on purpose. Checkpoints were somewhat provided through level design though.
That being said, we never intended players to have to rely on a Reset, except for the one pitfall near the very bottom.
I'm sorry you experienced the clipping issue that forced you to reset. That's on me and I totally understand the frustration. It didn't occur to us in testing, but that's no excuse.
Thanks for taking the time to play and to give such valuable feedback. ♥️♥️
Fun game. works well with the theme but is not the most original concept. Though you don't need to be original for a game jam. As long as you had fun and made a game, you did good. Not trying to say you're game is bad or anything. I've just played a bunch of trap games. Though the additional text is nice. Works well with the theme. Anyways, I had fun with the game and loved the art style.
It's extremely fun; the artwork is really good. The troll element is really fun. It's a bit too hard for me lol!
This is amazingly, painfully, foddian. I fell for pretty much everything! Great work to the artist as well - very impressive for a jam.
Well the theme fits well with this game, and the audio is okay, but the gameplay? It should be reworked...
Thanks for the feedback! Would you mind elaborating a bit on what you mean by the gameplay needing to be reworked? So that we can avoid these mistakes for our next jam. We also had many more ideas, but for now this all we managed to do in 4 days with 2 people.
Either way, thanks for taking the time to play, rate and comment ❤️
