How does the game fit the theme?
LIEJACK turns “Trust No One” into a blackjack investigation game. Seven strange dealers may secretly alter the rules, card values, payouts, or outcomes of each table. Players must question every result, identify the anomaly, and submit a report before running out of chips or making three mistakes. In this casino, you cannot even trust the rules.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Some sound effects were sourced from Pixabay and free asset packs.

Turning blackjack into a game where you can't trust anyone is a reallly good idea !

I like the graphics and the SFX .

I love Blackjack, so I was initially drawn to this. The "characters" eyes with their own personalities, sfx and animations was a cool decision. The calm music was a great choice. However, I feel I wasn't able to play long enough  to sus out the altered rule. For instance, one game, I lost all 3 rounds, and the dealer won legitimately, so it seemed like none of the rules were altered; e.g. because I didn't win, I wasn't able to test the payout to see if that rule was altered. I'm sure it's a time issue; if you decide to develop it further, it could be a great game. It's very polished in other aspects!

Great game! Finished it in 6 min but I would play more with more variety :)

hey! I played a few runs. My one feedback with it is that it's really difficult to figure out the rule limited to 3 rounds of blackjack. I'd rather have unlimited plays constrained by how much money I have. So the tension becomes how long do I want to spend "exploring vs exploiting", that is, betting vs submitting a report. With only 3 rounds, there might not be enough information to make a good guess. I had a dealer win after hitting 22, but which rule (4 or 6?) was broken? It seemed like both did.

Besides that, I really like the different eyes staring back at me and their interactivity. Adds a lot to the atmosphere.

Yeah, I can explain how those two rules are supposed to differ.

The altered win condition (Rule 6) can show itself in two ways: either the player who busts actually wins, or, when neither side reaches 21, the player with the lower total wins instead of the higher one.

The altered target score (Rule 4) usually changes the number you're trying to reach from 21 to something either lower or higher. For example, if your hand reaches 23 and you don't bust, that's a sign that the cheating is related to the target score (Rule 4).

Since I made the game by myself, I was extremely limited on time — as you can probably tell, I barely managed to submit it before the deadline. When designing the altered rules, I mainly focused on making sure that each one had some way to be distinguished from the others. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to properly balance how easy or difficult each rule is to identify. I also didn't want one altered rule to be so obvious and isolated that it became much easier to identify than all the others.

That said, I definitely agree that some of the altered rules ended up being too similar in how they present themselves, or are easy to confuse because of how the rules interact. That makes some of them harder to distinguish than I intended, and I think that's one of the weaknesses of the game.

The chip system was actually also intended as a light resource-management mechanic: it limits how much you can investigate while also helping recreate the feeling of gambling at a blackjack table.

There's also a little trick you can use when you're running low on chips: if you find a table where you've already figured out the altered rule, you can try to exploit that rule to make money. For example, if you've confirmed that busting makes you win, you can confidently go all-in, keep hitting, and try to make a ridiculous amount of money! :D

I like the little details like the eyes and all... overall, a SOLID game

Nice game!

Really cool game!! It even supports Traditional Chinese!

Turning Blackjack into an investigation game is such a clever idea, and it fits the theme really well too! Also, the way the eyes in the artwork follow your mouse around is honestly so creepy XD

But I think I only managed to guess correctly twice...? It was really hard to figure out exactly where I was going wrong!

No cake for me TT

I am not good with cards :(
so i kinda suck at this game but aside that I like artstyle very much reminds of that roulette game sort of, the game itself is smooth and working properly great work mate !

I had to play this cuz i used to deal BJ lol. I think the art direction is fantastic, the gameplay vibe and experience is top notch. this is such a solid entry, thanks for sharing :) I love how the eyes follow your mouse!!!!! No cake for me :(

The animations and atmosphere are amazing! I especially love the eyes on each enemy — they have so much character and really add to the overall vibe.

This game is MARVELOUS

The atmosphere is incredibly put together, with really heavy Inscryption vibes. I love the different eyes and sounds for the different dealers, it makes every level feel unique.

The game is incredibly polished, has a menu, a rules explanation, everything is accounted for and that's great.

The actual gameplay is also really fun and engaging, sometimes I forgot i wasn't playing regular blackjack and the realization that something was wrong really struck me, that was really cool

This is an incredible entry in this jam, and could even be expanded into something bigger if you wanted, congratulations!

This is an amazing twist on black jack! And THANK YOU for explaining the rules! I've played a lot of these kinds of games in past game jams where they assumed everyone already knew the rules of the game, which was kind of annoying. It was really hard for me to tell who was cheating (possibly due to my lack of experience in these types of games). But I really liked all the different eyes and the sound effects work really well. Good job!

The game is well polished! The mechanic is so cool, giving a twist to a casual game. It is so smart how you presented the other player with the eyes. Great job!

Really like the visuals, especially all the visual effects of the opponents. The rules are easy to understand and get into. Liked the twist on blackjack mechanics and turned it into something that fits the theme. Nice job on the game!

Cool and atmospheric game, very nice!

Fun game. loved the atmosphere. Simple yet effective. Nothing to say in terms of feedback.

The Inscryption-style vibe, eerie atmosphere, and polished card presentation are fantastic—having the eyes track the mouse cursor and dealers actively lying about rules are brilliant touches! Combining classic Blackjack with sleuthing makes for an exceptionally strong core loop.

A few areas to refine for maximum clarity:

- Investigation Feedback: Make the cheating clues a bit more explicit so accusing the dealer feels less like a 50/50 coin flip and more like a deduction.

- Dialogue Logic: Streamline the tutorial prompts (e.g., the first prompt asks if you want an explanation, but the follow-up asks if you already know the rules, which can trip up players clicking quickly).

Overall, super impressive polish and game feel! Whenever you get a chance, we'd love to get your thoughts on our jam project as well: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523
