How does the game fit the theme?
You cannot trust the experts who made your weapons; every 30 seconds, a different person becomes unreliable and their corresponding weapons begin to fail in different ways

Hahaha, Loved it! I love the survivor genre and this one didn't disappoint!
I pulled my hair here when the controls were reversed.. WHO HIRED THESE GUYS TO MAKE THE WEAPONS??!! 🤣🤣🤣
Had tons of fun! Great job on it! 😊😊✨
Thank you so much!
Wow! It's absolutely crazy! In such a short time, a basic form of a survivor was created, Perhaps the theme could be more closely integrated with one of the three selected architectural skills? But the design that integrates the theme within 30 seconds is extremely good!!I'd like to hear your opinion about our game also. Thank you~
Thanks! I do agree that the connection to the theme is a little looser than most other games, but it's mostly because I really didn't want to make a game about lying. Instead I used the definition of trust that is "to rely on," and so the player is supposed to not be able to rely on any one upgrade (or type of upgrade)
Subverting the Survivors-like genre by stacking chaotic "Trust No..." modifiers every 30 seconds—like friendly drones betraying you, controls reversing, or abilities freezing—is an absolute stroke of game design genius! Turning your own upgrades into unpredictable hazards fits the "Don't Trust" jam theme in such a chaotic, addicting way, making every run feel fresh and high-stakes.
A few hitbox, drone tethering, and balancing polish ideas for post-jam updates:
- Slash Hitbox & Enemy Knockback: Tweak the slash attack vector and collision response so enemies get pushed outward rather than upward/toward the player, preventing accidental damage from enemy overlap.
- Drone Range & Tethering: Add a maximum leash distance or recall button for drones so helper units don't get trapped fighting distant stragglers far off-screen.
- Debuff Visual Cues & Cursor Visibility: Keep the hardware mouse cursor explicitly forced visible on the UI/title screen, and add subtle screen-edge color tints or HUD banners when debuffs like "Reversed Controls" trigger so the shift feels intentional rather than like input lag.
Incredibly clever mechanics, catchy title track, and a phenomenal spin on the Survivors formula for a solo jam project! If you get a free minute, I'd really appreciate your detailed feedback and rating on my solo jam entry as well: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523
Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't thought about drone tethering, but it's actually a very good idea. As for the cursor, I intentionally hid it in an attempt to make the player use the keys for navigation because different menus used different UI systems, some of which are incompatible with mouse (I have no idea what I was thinking when I was coding T_T). You're not the first person to comment on it, so it's definitely a lesson learned T_T
ok bro the important thing is to learn ajsajs
nice survivors style game with a clever twist. the random effects keep you guessing and the theme lands really well once the game starts messing with your abilities. the attack hitbox pushing enemies toward you is a bit rough and makes some moments feel unfair, but the core loop is fun and the modifiers stack in a way that keeps things chaotic. the music is catchy and the whole thing feels polished for a solo jam. great work. (pls play my game)
Thank you! I tried to balance the slash hitbox, but I couldn't find a solution that was satisfying, consistent, and achievable with the time that I had, so it does have that quirk T_T
Very fun game! Had a slight issue where the hitbox of the attack could push an enemy up and towards you at the top of your attack hitbox. Otherwise, fun spin on Vampire Survivor!
Thank you! My theory is that the bug is due to the Physicist modifier, but I'll look into it
This is a really amazing game so much fun! Great job!
Thanks!
Man, this game is so cool haha. It took me a second to understand that the black slash was me attacking, and I am so bad at timing it, but I love how it works, randomizing the problems is such a great idea. It's crazy that you made this on your own, congrats!
Thank you!
I love the "Trust no.." aspect of the game, it makes it that much more enjoyable! :D Super fun game!
I did get a bug though, one time when I had a second orb that was orbiting around me, it just stayed in one place, not following me. It was very odd, but it fixed itself!
Thank you so much! I think that the orb freezed because you probably had "Trust No Engineer" which freezes abilities (I could be mistaken, though)
Ooooh, yeah maybe!! In that case, thats pretty cool. The fact that it did come back later means its def prolly that!
bro you a genius. Title music is so catchy there is a tune hidden in there that reminds me of a song but couldn't figure out what song it was. Freaking genius with making the attacks automatic and reversing the controls. All around beautifully mechanically designed game . Mechanically this is amazing. This can definetly grow
Thank you so much!
Enjoyable survivors like! My one thought was that psychiatrist easily the worst of the randomizers as it just makes the movement unintuitive and, at least for me, was less fun and interesting than some of the other modes. Otherwise great game! One of my favs to play of the jam so far :)
Thanks! I think that psychiatrist is a lot more subjective than most of the other mechanics - when I had some friends playtest, one thought it was terrible and one thought it was great XD
Nice game! Fun twist on a survivors-like game. The modifiers really keep you on your toes. Once two start happening at once it gets rough, then three makes it even harder. I think some way of healing might be nice, as well as a faster walk speed or way to upgrade speed. But it's really good! I kind of just want to keep playing lol.
Thank you! I realized when play-testing that there needed to be some way to heal, but I was scared to make the game too easy, so I added a heal to the sniper (which was underpowered before then). It is slow, but substantial, because I still wanted the player on their toes all the time XD. I tried to balance the whole thing to be challenging, but not offputtingly hard, but I think I made it just a bit too difficult T_T
The twist to the vampire survivors formula here is rly clever! And I was surprised to see multiple effects at the same time. The best part was seing Trust no one at the end and I litteraly new that I needed to run away asap
Great job on that game :)
Thank you! I went back and forth on whether or not to include Trust No One at the end, so I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
This is a Really innovative and interesting idea. The execution was done well too. Nice work!
Thanks!
Cool game, but too hard for me! Love the vibe and additcing game loop. Tho i couldnt see my cursor, so it was super hart to click play haha :D
Thanks! I struggled a bit with balance, but ended up going for a more chaotic (and therefore harder) vibe, so I'm sorry about that T_T
peak! loved the gameplay and random events, got ruined by reversed controls xdd
Thanks! The reversed controls are hellish XD
Awesome gameplay and abilities, but kinda feel that the Astronomer debuff is a bit too op imo, besides that, awesome work!
Thanks! I do agree that astronomer can be a way too strong, but it also depends on what abilities you have. If you get all three drones and Mechanic (drones become hostile), then you're cooked just as much as having a ton of cosmic abilities and Astronomer. It was intended to make the player feel like they couldn't rely on (or, trust *wink wink*) just one type of ability and they had to branch out, although I don't know how well that came across 😅
Such an interesting take on the theme, and those effects... oh wow haha 😄 Everything was great!
Thank you!
I really liked the fact that game gets harder not only by increased amount of enemies but the debuffs get stacked. At first I thought damn the reversed controls is annoying and then I get it with hostile drones and enemies healing at the same time :DD
This is an interesting take on the survivors like game. Nice job!
Thank you!
Really good game. The adversary effect every 30s fits perfectly with the theme.
The drones would have a better feel if you got to see them more, as my attack and suppression drones just got stuck on some enemies miles away from me, and every so often I would walk past them, slowing 5 green enemies while everyone else is purple ;p
The annoying thing was enemies getting knockback against each other, causing them to be pushed into me, but intended or not, it made me not trust my weapons' knockback at all, as they were the thing that killed me the most.
Overall, very solid entry for a jam :3
Thanks! I definitely didn't spend enough time fine-tuning some of the targeting mechanics (the drones, the tractor beam, etc), and by the time I realized, it was already too late T_T. Glad you enjoyed it though!
I wasnt to sure on how I felt about how it fit into theme...
UNTIL I GOT THE EFFECT WHERE MY DRONES TURNED ON ME
was not expecting this super fun game to say you did this all by yourself you should be very proud
Thank you!
