Art was incredible! I initially wanted to point out the mixels, though I saw in another comment it was intentional, and I can respect that. Music was also really nicely done, and I see how the game fits the theme! Gameplay felt nice and smooth; I like the little detail of the reluctant message popping up every now and then! I didn't quite grasp the story though, I think some extra lore at the beginning would be nice! After messing around for 15 minutes or so looking for the secret ending I got it by accident XD

Very much enjoyed playing this one, keep it up :D

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! There isn't any lore at the beginning because you are supposed to examine things around you, so you know. Like, who was the girl in the secret ending, or why is he exploding the neighborhood! Thanks for rating! We hope to make a second game, so I hope you can look forward to that!

Submitted(+2)

The art is genuine fire and the ending having an animation? Peak. Though I kinda wish the cutscene art was used in the overworld gameplay. Really good take on the theme too, haven't seen anything similar yet, nice game overall.

Developer

Thanks! We get that request a lot, but the pixel art is supposed to contrast the hand-drawn world. Btw, have you gotten the secret ending?

Developer

Thank you so much! I am glad you like the art!

Submitted(+2)

Such a nice art style, and good music too, it's nice to see how people use this engine so differently to reach amazing results. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I just started learning how to make music actually :D

Submitted(+1)

You've got amazing potential then, I'd recommend experimenting with scales and continue creating melodies until it sounds even better!

Developer

Omg thank you so much! Will do!!!!

Developer

yeah godot is pretty rad

The art is really nice and the concept is cool. I've played a little over 50 jam entries now, and I haven't seen anything like it.  The character portraits were nice, but the background had a lot of mixels, so things don't look like that fit together. The ending was surprising but I wish there was a bit more dialogue to maybe set up the backstory and the characters more. Each character only really had one line of dialogue, and I think adding some more would really help elevate it! I got the ending where I press the detonator but couldn't figure out how to get the other ending. I tried walking away from the lake and got some dialogue from the player saying things like "This isn't right"  but couldn't figure it out beyond that.  Again, this is a pretty unique concept and it would be cool to see it fleshed out and made longer. Good job!

Developer(+1)

The mixels were intentional to try and convey the MCs distorted view of his surrounding. Its intentionally miss-matched but I understand where you're coming from! I appreciate your feedback and im glad you enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

I am glad you enjoyed our game! We want to expand upon everything later, but i am glad you liked everything we have so far too!

Submitted(+2)

Good game! I mean it's not how I deal with people in everyday life - but still :D it was fun! Loved the art style. Congratulations :)

Developer

Thank you 🙏

Developer

Thank you so much!! XD

Submitted(+2)

I like the experience. At first the game lead me to believe that the main character was simple insecure and didn't want to deal with people... how wrong I was.

I haven't found the secret ending yet. I try a couple of things without much luck.

My only complain is the "mismatch" of the control scheme: sometimes you accept with "E", others with Enter, others with the a mouse click. I think the inputs could be unified.

Developer

That is a valid complaint, thank you for the feedback and im glad you liked it 🙏

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, and thank you for that feedback, I honestly didn't notice it during playtesting so thats a good catch!

That's the first game that made me blow up a grandma:(

I enjoyed the eerie atmosphere, although I have mixed feelings about the changing font since it definitely adds to that atmosphere but also can be quite hard to read at times. Harsh collision with the house number signs was also a minor inconvenience.

I certainly wasn't expecting the ending! Visuals and writing are definitely the strong side of the game.

Overall it was quite fun to play even if a bit short!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the font effect has been super mixed. I'm the one who made it so im biased. But i can see how someone could dislike it. If you wanna save the grandma try looking for the second ending!

Submitted

I think this is a cool concept and I believe I have seen it in some other games - maybe a different combination of fonts would do the trick?

Developer(+1)

I am so glad you liked the game!! :D

Submitted(+1)

Wow, not at all what I was expecting! Quite engaging and great visual direction!

A few things I would like to point out, some of which has already been mentioned:

- The mailbox collision threw me off, since the player's feet aren't anywhere near that of the mailbox.

- I think both the pixel art and the hand drawn stuff looked great on their own but I didn't love them together

- The changing font. It's cool on paper and it does make you think that something isn't right, but it can be a bit much. Instead of removing it though, I'd suggest an accessibility option where the player can disable it.

Can't wait to see what you guys make next!

Developer

Mailbox collision? You rating the right game?

Submitted

Sorry, on closer look, those are signposts, not mailboxes

Thank you for your feedback! Accessability options is a great idea, I might annoy my brother to add that in >:)

Submitted(+1)

The art was really good, you guys did a fantastic job with this. The story kept me hooked and in wonder what was going on and what was about to happen. If I had to say something critical, I felt like some of the assets didn't mesh together like the pixel art and the hand drawn art. It wasn't too distracting and didn't ruin the immersion by much, but it leaves me wondering what the game would've looked like if the game committed to hand drawn. other than that, awesome work all of you!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Oh, lol. Thanks! also, the pixel art is to contrast the hand-drawn art, so you can theorize some things about the player. Btw, did you get both endings?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your input and I am glad you liked the game!

Submitted(+1)

Damn that scalated quikly...

I didnt expected that at all, interesting game and interesting gameplay.

I dont like the changing font texts tho, pretty difficult to read and it gives me a weird sensation (idk how to explain it, I am not epyleptic but it feels like the things marked as epylepsy warning feel), maybe making them change slower or choosing fonts more similar between them would make a better effect.

In overal, great game, congratulations for making it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! And yeah, but apparently theyll be diffucult to change so thatll be something a future game out fix :)

Developer

Yeah, everyone has been talking about the changing fonts. me and phantomfym like them, but people haven't been liking them too much  lol. Its funny to see everyone go against them, but we will probably change them in a future second game?

Submitted(+2)

Nice art! The little story going on here kept me playing. The new job is pretty booming, isn’t it? It’d be nice to add a web build too; unfortunately, games without one tend to get fewer attention. Anyway, nice work on the game!

Developer

Thanks! We have 19 ratings so far, so we just need 1 more to be elegible!

Developer

Thank you so much! I am so glad you liked it! :)

The game starting with a Sartre quote is my empire, so you had my interest right from the start. Visuals are great, characters walking animations are good enough. Truly gives the vibes of existentialism with the colors. My only minor issue was sound effects are a bit loud and too much when we are talking people at their door. Also making the speech bubbles straight instead of diagonal would look better. That ending reminds me of Heathers movie. This game literally has every element I love. :D Good job!

Developer

thanks! have you found the secret ending?

Submitted

No, i guess :D I went to the lake side after delivering all of the packages. There is a screet ending? :O

Developer(+1)

Yes, if you have only gotten the true explosion ending, you should keep looking (;

Developer

To be compared to Heathers is my FAVORITE thing ever 🥹🥹🥹

Developer

oh man Heather's is such a call back for me

Submitted(+2)

Oooooh wow, what a hidden gem! Great art, audio, atmosphere, the gameplay is simple BUT polished enough to feel good to play, and the art and vibe just puts it all together into a beautiful "small story" that incorporates the theme, chef's kiss for the art department on this one! Great Job!!!! Hope you get more reviews, I know what is like to be a downloadable game and is hard, but you deserve much more!

Developer

thank you so much 🙏

Developer

Hand drawn artist and sound designer here, Thank you so much!! This means the world to hear! This was our first game made together as brothers and it was such a joy to make :)

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

Love the game and animation very well done. Love the style and and vibe. <3

Developer

Thanks! I created most of the pixel art, and maimai will come soon... Also she made the animation and the player and the house scenes

Developer

Thank you so much!!! I literally have only made 2-3 simple gif animations before so it was a challenge XD

Submitted(+2)

I knew it ! I knew it !

Nice little entry. I've managed to get both ending, always a pleasure to see hand animated cutscenes, especially on such a short timeframe.

It's a shame that the game is having a hard time getting ratings, but that's the curse of downloadable entries. Best of luck to you all, hope you at least get to 20 before the end.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I drew most of the pixel art, and mai_mai drew the hand-drawn stuff!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so glad you were able to see both endings, Im really proud of how the second ending turned out so :) It is nice to know my animation efforts aren't going to waste qwq

I think we will manage 20 reviews by the end, we have 13-14 right now and we have been getting at least one rating every day :)

Submitted(+1)

Haha I didn't catch any hints till i got to the end, when he ran away I just thought he had social anxiety or something. Could not figure out how to get ending 2 though.

Developer

ending 2  can get cryptic, I would recommend looking, and clicking around.

Developer

Naw, you just gotta think as if you were the protagonist 🙂‍↕️

Developer

Thats really funny, the ending mustve been so crazy XD

Submitted(+2)

Got both endings!  Pretty dark stuff, really liked the vibe and art especially.  Not a whole lot there gameplay-wise but I thought it was well-executed in terms of all the "second thoughts" and the presentation of the whole thing.  From a story perspective I would have liked to see a little more of the main character's motivations.  In any case, nicely done!

Developer

Thank you so much, and very true. We thought making the main character more mysterious could be beneficial for the current vibe. But I definitely want to expand on his motivation and the second ending in particular in a possible second game. But its a group project so it also depends on what my brothers think as well. Ill definitely check out your entry later today!

Developer

We kinda already have his motivations in our heads, so it will def get revealed in whatever second game we crank out! I am so glad you liked the art and endings! :D

Submitted(+2)

Really enjoyable game! I liked the atmosphere, the visual style, and how cohesive the whole experience felt. Really solid work for a jam game — well done!

Developer

Thank you so much! Ill be sure to check out your entry later today!

Developer

Thank you so much! That means so much! :D

Submitted(+2)

Damn, that’s a joker move to pull. Funny that the guy who realized it was a bomb just said “OH LAWD” and then never did anything about it. Liked it, congratz on the work!

Developer(+1)

They actually do get something done in the secret ending hint hint 😎

Developer(+1)

They def couldve done something immediately XDD also thank you so much!!!

Submitted(+2)

the game is super nice and the art work is also cool .i like that dramatic ending :))

Developer

thanks dude 🙏

Developer

I am so glad you liked it, thank you!!
