How does the game fit the theme?
Off the Record requires a player to choose between balancing work, meeting basic needs, and navigating a world full of anomalies. There are multiple endings depending on the protagonist's experiences, work ethic, and ability to meet their own needs. The protagonist's trustworthiness is shown in these endings, while the protagonist battles the question of, "Who or what can I trust?"

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We made it all.

I actually love the concept. Although maybe its my laptop but it keeps glitching out and camera flicks at another direction. I'd like to playy more but I guess that glitch is kind of killing the mood

I can definitely feel the mundane nature of working in this game, I was only able to get one ending, so I didn't feel the connection to the theme too much. I like the design for the hover effect, that is pretty unique. The sound effects and anomalies really helped build suspense!

Such a cool game — I love the loop!

Really cool game!! I'm not entirely sure what the actual goal is, but I could definitely feel that sense of wanting to escape XD

The strange things gradually appearing in such an ordinary daily routine made everything feel more and more unsettling.

Although I have to admit... I actually really enjoyed the typing part XD

a very enjoyable game. I played for as long as I could. the audio and assets were great.

sometimes the camera would freak out when I looked a certain way but that could just be something on my side.

anyways, It was a Great game. Good job!

A great game! I played it until I could leave lmao. It was spooky, and kinda funny. I love that there was a floating mug and it just sat there after you found it. like wow, another haunting. another floating mug with a note in in it.
I will say that sometimes when it was evening and I'd click on the bed to sleep, it'd lag a bit. The sounds were all great!
But other than that, it was a fun time! Well done!

Off the Record was enjoyable! The game was simple yet the environment was very clean and well constructed. There's loads of tension and depth in this short little game! Highly recommend. The typing minigame was a lot of fun, even for someone who doesn't usually like typing.

I got the "What the fuck" ending, not sure if there was more than one. The tension was really good and I got spooked by a lot of different noises and sounds. The broom-sweep sound that plays when the lunchtime jingle starts always scared me as I thought someone was behind me. Also the moaning and groaning ambience around day 3/4 was quite creepy.

I will say though, the ambience built up a lot but didn't have much of a payoff. At one point I expected someone to burst out of the closet or the front door, but it never happened. Maybe my Paranoia never got high enough? Regardless I never got jumpscared, which GAHH I'd spam those everywhere if it were me!

There are some small bugs/tweaks I'd like the team to be aware of:

  • On small objects like the toothbrush, the interaction collider is just too small.
  • The game has very low sensitivity and also cannot be fullscreened.
  • Small, short, or slow mouse movement is simply ignored. This makes it really hard to micro adjust your aim on aforementioned small hitboxes of interactables.
  • At some point, the mission HUD broke and wouldn't cross out items.
  • There appears to be an invisible collider on the fridge blocking me. Maybe it's a collider for the fridge door opening? If so I wasn't able to find out how to open the fridge door/unlock the freezer. There's probably some lore there.

All in all great game. 10/10 can drink from toilet. Good luck on ratings! :)

I am become refrigerator, eater of paranoia (clipped through the fridge using the trash :P)

The texture of text texturing the textures was text level :P Very intriguing like the player can't trust their own senses and is consumed by work. I feel like there was a missed opportunity to deliver some of the narrative of this story by having the player respond to their boss and having the player type to type out the response. Especially typing words that clue us into the headspace of the player as well as give us motivation to work (that is, what are the stakes for us, the character we are player, and not just what are the stakes for our boss)

It does a good job of making this deadline seem impossible to meet but also it felt like work 😅 I wonder if the time sped up or was non-linear (due to paranoia-fueled distortions?) if the tension could be achieved without having to have typed soooo much? Anyways, this is a unique premise and promising concept!

Nice environment you created and the shader work on the interactive items was cool! The text on the laptop seemed quite big and didn't wrap, so not sure if that was intentional or happened with my web build only. The sound fx were nice but the volume was really low - at first I thought there was no sound but I discovered it after turning my volume all the way up. Other than that, nice game loop!

very nice game I was not sure whether I clean the tooth - couldnt pickup toothbrush - good job

An interesting approach to the topic and a way to build tension, the fact that the player is writing these words makes the us feel the paranoia even more strongly, and the great sound design also builds the atmosphere very well. Good job! ♥

I like the gameplay loop a lot, especially the writing and stuff like that! Was a bit confused on what affected the paranoia bar, but it's still pretty fun :)

This is really fun for me. I love doing tasks!

I really enjoyed this one! it was really fun, I kinda didn't get off the computer for a while though and didn't realise the next day had started

I started to get paranoid that the words I was typing had a special meaning when I saw closet and some others. like the game loop and the paranoia meter. All the models and sound effects were super cool.

I locked in right from the start and NAILED that work!

Really great idea here, and I LOVE the shader on the models to show what's interactable - I did have some difficulty understanding what "paranoia" affected, however.

I hope yall had a blast during the jam! :)
